If his sister told him his name's aegon Targaryen it means they were married. If they weren't married he's a bastard named aegon sand.

If anyone legitimately had the episode it would've been leaked already

I get the feeling he knew, and his sister told him "he's aegon targaryen" and not "he's aegon waters"

I assume in the "Promise me, Ned" conversation, she told him.
Actually, they show it in the show. She tells him his real name is Aegon Targaryen.

What purpose does he serve? He's just a nerd with a flaming sword. He's meant to fight and die.

There's no point watching this show again really, grrm (he confirmed his ending will be more or less the same) miserably failed because even though one of them or the both of them will die, Jon and Daenerys are the heroes of the story fire and ice azor ahai blablabla If grrm had only wanted to make his work more consequent, Cersei and Littlefinger would win at the end (or something like this) but this is doomed. Gonna watch the show nonetheless hope the battle will be pleasing at least

To be fair to that queer boy, the singing scene was much worse.

Brienne's entire character, is the fact that she embodies the honor of a true knight, despite never being acknowledged for it. So when her arc comes to the end, why wouldn't they say "fuck tradition" and knight her? It's such a pointless thing to cry about, untless you're baiting for an identity politics discussion. It seems more interesting because the world is based on the view of Westerosi maesters. So the further these places are away the more inaccurate the infromation gets. If the show was set in the East you would think Westeros would be more exciting.
>Creatures which are able to raise the dead
>A giant ice wall that stands for 8000 years
>Children of the Forest
>People mindcontrolling enemies
Those are some examples that exist as a 100% fact in the West. Now think about stories like Robb feasting on his enemies that spread through Westeros. Now imagine how such a story would be exaggerated over and over until it reached masters in Essos.
This part of the world is more fascinating because we don't know anything about it. Yet I would still have liked Asshai and the Shadowlands to get some screentime.

If she doesn't care about tradition then why does she care about being a knight at all?

I just recognize the show for what it is : cheap and low quality fanfic that completely changed its tone and its main theme from the books and the first seasons. No need to cry about it, redditor.

like honestly, arya is such a badaaaaaaassssss yaaaaaaaas

>If she doesn't care about tradition
she literally says in the scene "it's tradition"

My heart's racing thinking about tomorrow bros. Everyone I like is going to die.

>going by the books for the chronology

Having a title, is a symbol of recognition and respect, which everyone wants.

Be glad they won't be able to butcher their characters anymore

And then she says "I never wanted to be a knight anyway", and proceeds to accept being knighted.
The scene is basically fanfic.net in quality. Especially the room clapping for her while she happily smiles for the camera.
She said she didn't and apparently never really tried to be knighted at any point prior to that moment, since it's as easy as convincing another knight to do a little ritual.

JORAH GETS KEKED FOR 8 SEASONS THEN DIES!

WHAT A FUCKING BETA AHAHAHA

Attached: n2KZU4q - Copy.png (960x540, 141K)

I'm excited too, I just hope the dialogue and characters are written better this episode LOL

The first 5 seasons are pretty much 1:1 with the book events. Even with the fanfic in seasons 6-8 there's hardly room to justify a 5+ year difference between the books/show.

i like jews. d&d rock!!

So wait. How did they reforge Ice, Ned's Greatsword into two smaller swords? I thought all knowledge of how to forge Valyrian steel has been a lost art since the Doom.

Attached: ice.png (720x404, 640K)

(((feelings)))

>She said she didn't and apparently never really tried to be knighted at any point prior to that moment
She wanted to be a knight since childhood. But was told that she couldn't be one. So she tried to be the next best thing, a part of Renly's Kingsguard. She'd still take an old, she'd still be recognized as a protector, just not a knight in name. After Renly dies, she becomes a protector of Catelynn and her daughters. Again, she takes and oath, and again, she becomes a protect. Only, not a knight in name.

>since it's as easy as convincing another knight to do a little ritual.
No other knight would do such a thing, since she's a woman. Because they all regard tradition.

Attached: 77b5575.jpg (674x640, 58K)

I genuinely can't tell if you fucking retards actually like how the show is now.
Then again, we have constant capeshit threads on this board so I shouldn't be too surprised.

I think you can melt down Valyrian steel and reforge it, but you can’t actually make new Valyrian steel.

They can't forge but they can reforge old ones. Or so i remember

>No other knight would do such a thing, since she's a woman. Because they all regard tradition.
How many knights has she tried? I seem to remember not raping women to death is also tradition, and yet you have "knights" like The Mountain roaming around.

nice meme sweety

Attached: westeros IS Essos copy.jpg (3264x2448, 1.44M)

IIRC Ned attempted to take the Mountain's titles because he was looting the Riverlands.

This is correct.
Its why only super duper rich people have it.

well I mean we're in uncharted territory since GRRM hasn't written the books so i can agree that the show has taken a downturn a bit in writing since I guess no one knows how to genuinley write good characters without something to follow but I mean it's not completely terrible and there's nothing wrong with liking a show lol

And? Are you implying that he's the only knight that doesn't follow tradition?

BASED AND FACED

Attached: clarke faces.jpg (3770x1450, 532K)

No by that I mean that such actions have consequences and knights can lose their status due to it.

cutie pie

> but I mean it's not completely terrible
We disagree. Watch an episode from season 1 and then watch an episode from this season right after one another to see the giant contrast.
Literally almost every scene now is either pointless padding, or shit that fangirls want.
The writing used to be so good that you'd love the slow scenes where tons of talking was involved because they actually served some purpose to the plot.

What does it has to do with liking this shit show?
she obviously says she didn't wanted to be a knight because she is ashamed to admit that that's what she ever wanted.

>Only the greatest weaponsmiths can reforge swords from existing Valyrian steel
Okay, I thought any and all forging of Valyrian steel was impossible because the magic in the metals is lost when you melt it down so it would need knowledge of how to make Valyrian steel to preserve the properties of it when reforging. I see.

Yes, since the apocalypse started anyway.
Jamie couldnt get away with that shit back in the normal KL. But since theyre all going to die, wtf.
Brienne is one of the only ones still representing the Faith of the Seven.
The Gods blessed her lotalty.

>How many knights has she tried?
Well first of all, she succumbed to the idea that she would never be a night when she was still a child. At that developmental period, people tend to take ideas to heart. She probably didn't think she has the right to ask for such an honor. And, as I understand it, No one has such a right. Every other knight is granted their title. They don't go around asking people, "can you knight me? No? OK, you over there, can you knight me?" That's not how it works. You have to prove yourself first, and then someone might recognize you, and make you a knight.

Brienne's honor, wouldn't allow herself to become the knight who begged.

well that's what I'm saying, yeah it was pretty enjoyable like any scene with Aemon was s awesome because I loved him but this past episode had it's highlights and I'm not disagreeing with you when I say the shows writing is shit the past few seasons

Ser Bronn would rekt Ser Brienne, easy.

You are disagreeing with me when it comes to this episode having any highlights. I think it was 100% shit and cringe.
Literally the only relevant scenes were when Jon revealed his ancestry and the closing one with the Night King. If you skipped the first 98% of the episode you wouldn't have missed anything.

im rewatching season one for the frst time now. its so fuckin good lads. why did it all go so downhill? literally what happened to the writers?

Bronn is easily S tier in the power ranking

Would you stupid ugly faggots stfu already? The scene was shit and so is your taste. Stop trying to excuse this pathetic pandering to the lowest common denominator.

whats stannis?

Because you have your nostalgia goggles on.
Every series' season one is shit, people are just too afraid of change/progress to accept it

They simply gave up.

Season 1 is almost identical to the books, that's why it has the best dialogue and is overall the comfiest season.

that's why I said ~some~ I've been watching since the show came out so it's not like I'm going in completely retarded. I agree with you saying the show's writing has been shit indeed but I'm INTERESTED to see how they attempt to fix the damage they've done

this guy likes Westworld season 2

lol virgin

>Backed into a corner
>Doubles down on indignation.
Typical.

It's the exact opposite faggot , season one is usually the best , especially with long running series that have over 5 seasons.

why is you here then??? Go look at a thread you can enjoy instead of getting yourself worked up lmao

Stay mad incel.

i dont. i hardly remember the first season and i wasnt nearly as smart as i am now when i watched it. not to say im smart now but im not 16 anymore. i never felt any connection to the show and still dont. its just good television man really.

Obviously Grey Worm. They wouldn’t have had that stupid moment talking about going back to Essos otherwise

Episode 1 was shut, but I really liked 2, it needed to happen to finally finish setting up everything.

Only impatient manlets and incels complain about episode 2 because they can't stand world building or womyn.

Though I must say I hated all greyworm scenes, we get it , racism is a thing, you can stop showing shots of northerners being disgusted by foreigners

My argument was that the scene is shit and poorly written, not that it was somehow impossible to happen in the lore.
Plebbitor trannies.

theyre jews. when youre a jewish show writer without the help of the original books and you have the opportunity to make the easy shekels by writing shitty fanfic without any effort, what do you do? you make the easy shekels

Season 1 was better.
The series has had a sharp decline ever since season 3.
There's good moments in season 4, 5 , 6, 7, but it isn't pure kino like seasons 1-3 were.
It also ain't nostalgia, I did a rewatch with a friend of mine who never watched and he was complaining about season 7 dialogue, etc.

Cause it's trashy pandering. Same with the constant scenes of little girls saying how they're all warriors, or that prepubescent Mormont girl wearing her plate armor and acting tough.

Attached: DTChf2kXcAAaalG.jpg (1200x800, 133K)

:D rad

I can tell you I'm not trolling. Most of the shitposting I've seen here about people not liking the episode was because they either thought it was too boring (again, they can't spot setups for life) or they were complaining about the Brienne Knight scene.

I thought the source was fine and was the culmination of Brienne as a character, a character that has been developing for 8 season and finally achieved the natural conclusion. People who hate it literally do because Brienne is a woman and because of the "fuck tradition" sentence. You know what people who hate everything woman related regardless of context?

That's right.

Incels.

Oh wait, he was gracious enough to leave his signature on it. That's good.

you're just so fucking cute

They put up Wildings as being these noble savages but they literally raid and kill hundreds of village folk

If they actually have Arya steal Jaime's face to kill Cersei it would be the worst way to end those arcs. So I fully expect it to happen in the show. Smh.

Attached: 1555403774243.jpg (1124x620, 298K)

It's crazy that people think the Night King is more likely to die than Bran. Bran is guaranteed dead next episode. That's going to be, in part, how they escalate the drama. When their know-it-all character dies, and the Knight King is still loose, what do they do?

This is also why they spend half of last episode reminding the audience about how smart Tyrion is, and why Tyrion talked to Bran. Because it will be Tyrion to realizes how to stop the Night King for good.

I was on your side when it was juztabout the show.
But you are a faggot and i hope you die in a slow and painful way starting asap.

Varys should know something as well. At least that Lyana was pregnant.

How can it be pandering, if it makes sense for the character?

Here is some superior based Jaime art for you.

This could have been the coolest action scene of the series if they had the balls to let Jaime successfully kill Dany or a dragon.

You think the only pandering that exists is completely illogical?

I think Bran isn't going to die, but be kidnapped for some other purpose. Otherwise, why wouldn't the Night King just let his hoard of >100k storm winterfell and kill everyone in their? Why does the Night King himself have to go into the Godswood to do this if he didn't want something more specific done? Then again, this is Dabid's show.

i like that

So which one of the leaks were accurate so far, if any?
Did they predict all the episodes?

I don't. However, if your arguing that it's logically sound pandering, then I would like to understand in what way it was pandering. Describe the particulars to me. Clearly, I don't see things the way you do. So I need them spelled out.

>then they're so insecure about Maise's looks that they write flattering dialogue for Lady Crane to spout about her eyes and eyebrows

Only way he could know is if Ned told him or if he learned of it after becoming clamhands.
Which is reasonable. Benjen joined the NW right after Ned got back from the war.

>Why does the Night King himself have to go into the Godswood to do this if he didn't want something more specific done?
Because it's a personal vendetta.

Podrick and Sansa is the most proper course of action. Prove me wrong. You can't

>tons of the main cast characters come together in the same room to talk about meaningless shit like it's a fucking rom com
>heavy liberal propaganda from a literal savage nonetheless about tradition and sexism bad
>brienne gets knighted on the spot through no effort of her own simply because the conversation brought up the subject
It's just shit.

Finger in bum No benis :DDDDDD

Podrick got thiccccccccccc

Jon did it on orders of a superior based dumbtard
Disobeying an order and being a conniving little shit hiding during the worst fight the nights watch has seen while his brothers died around him. The grounds for his death were clear. Jon also could not allow an order to be disobeyed in front of him without appearing weak, which other brothers were already perceiving of Jon. He was pretty worthless and he had multiple opportunities to concede to the command. Thorne seemed to approve of jons decision as well even tho they were friends. My question to you is do you think mormont would have handled things differently? What about Ned Stark? There are plenty of reasons to take issue with the terrible writing of dindle but I dont think your complaint is justified here.

TARGARYEN FUCKING SHITS

The Night King and his wights are underdogs against humans.

The last attack, he btfo humans and killed them by battle and mass famine. Most people fled to the south.
Then humans hook back up witj lesbo elves and get dragonglass and drive them back up north and build a wall.
So from history we see they cant fuck with humans+dragonglass.
So ice Kang would need a different strategy this time, but more likely hes just a 1D bad guy.

Frikidoctor's leaks were mostly accurate. He has nothing on the next episode.

Does Beric have the most based voice in GoT? I feel like his only competition is Jorah or Roose.

I always thought it was retarded how she always smirked like that but doesn't she have some condition that makes her do that?

In the books they finished fucking in that scene

>hero who actually turns out to be a villain but then can't go through with the villainous thing and sacrifices themself, like I do in my stuff.
From the mouth of GRRM himself. To whom does this apply in GoT?

EGG

Tywins pretty good too

Cat was hotter and Lysa was a crazy slut, so Cat gets the Northern Chad while Lysa gets the old guy

>tons of the main cast characters come together in the same room to talk about meaningless shit like it's a fucking rom com
ok. This much is a tad contrived. I'll give you that. However, this entire episode relies on character interactions. as they're doing nothing more than preparing for the fight to come. If you don't put a bunch of characters in a room, then what would you do with them? And if they're all in the room together, then why wouldn't they talk about meaningless shit? Should they all just be exposition machines, that only talk about the impending threat? They're human after all, and humans talk about many different subjects. They have diversions and asides that often go nowhere.

>heavy liberal propaganda from a literal savage nonetheless about tradition and sexism bad
This is how the freefolk are. The entire point about there being a king beyond the wall, combining tribes, is for the fact that none of these tribes cared enough about tradition to organize a real society. They all kind of did what they wanted. That's why many of their women fought. Because they weren't confined to be traditionally feminine. One of Tormund's travel partners was Ygritte. Why would he honor a tradition that tells a woman she can't fight?

>brienne gets knighted on the spot through no effort of her own simply because the conversation brought up the subject
Brienne has already performed acts of valor, worthy of knighthood. And Jaime knows more than anyone that she's worthy.

I was so sad when he died

I can see the resemblance with the goblina Dabid casted

no, bitch
hahahaha

Lysa was hotter than Cat before she got Littlefingered.
He made her crazy.

Targaryens worst House. Boring creators pet super special bullshit family. Only interesting Targaryens are from long before the series began and there were only a few.

>Coolest Great House ranking (books)
1. Baratheon
2. Lannister
3. Tyrell
4. Martell
5. Stark
6. Tully
7. Greyjoy
8. Arryn
9. Targaryen shits

Of course. Tywin was great.

AZOR CIA

>Lysa was hotter than Cat
t. Lysa

The only Targaryens I actually like are from the Dunk and Egg era, and it just so happens that’s the time period in which they had no dragons

>However, this entire episode relies on character interactions
So have the characters interact in a meaningful way and write their dialogue in a bearable way. I'm not telling you to keep them all separated and mute.
>none of these tribes cared enough about tradition to organize a real society
And yet they have religions and ancestor worship. And do you remember the previous dialogue when Jon tells Tormund about how "what about those that can't fight" and refers to the women and children before going to Hardhome with him? Tormund never said "nu-huh Jon that's sexist and highly problematic, women are QUEEENS SLAAAAYYY", you dumb faggot.
>Brienne has already performed acts of valor, worthy of knighthood. And Jaime knows more than anyone that she's worthy.
It's still just a retarded scene and nothing more. But her beating the Hound was even more retarded, to be fair.

Fucking moron, why is this still a criticism? why do people always want handholding? the maps are not acurrate and are not intended to be

garbage

Telltale got shut down

i dont understand. Walking simulators are the next big thing. It's a playable movie!

>So have the characters interact in a meaningful way
Brienne getting knighted was meaningful. For the reasons explained earlier.

>And yet they have religions and ancestor worship.
OK, they have some traditions. But barely. Much of Jon's story north of the wall, is learning how little tradition the freefolk regard. They don't kneel. They're free to come and go as they please. Their leaders are only their leaders, because they respect them, not because of blood lineage.

>And do you remember the previous dialogue when Jon tells Tormund about how "what about those that can't fight" and refers to the women and children before going to Hardhome with him?
No, he didn't refer to women and children. Because women do fight among the freefolk. They have so many female fighters, that there's a name for it. "Spearwife".

In fact, in the books, when Jon allows the freefolk south of the wall, he takes male hostages. Young boys of various tribe leaders. In order to ensure their cooperation. During this process, he's concerned that the freefolk would try to pass of girls as young boys. Which they could easily do, since many young girls among the freefolk learn how to fight.

Worst of all, those two were the only good playable characters

>Ironniggers
>that high

Their gimmick got old once people realized that the "choices" don't matter in the slightest except for one or two and any character that can be killed never plays a significant role in the sequels

They fucked up both the 'playable' and the 'movie' parts.

I liked The Wolf Among Us, but only because I wanted to fuck Snow White.

based

The best part is that none of your decisions has any impact on the ending. "Decisions matter" in the sense that some dialogue lines are changed. The bad guy has plot armour and even the characters that you apparently save by taking smart decisions get teleported to certain death EXACTLY like when you take dumb decisions. Everything has the same outcome.

You’re doing the lords work dealing with this guy. 100% agree with you

>Brienne getting knighted was meaningful.
Not really. It was fucking shit. I guess you could argue that Arya getting her chav pussy pounded was also meaningful, but I didn't care nor want to see that shit.
>Much of Jon's story north of the wall, is learning how little tradition the freefolk regard.
Retarded dipshit. I'll spoonfeed you again:
>The Free Folk consist of a wide variety of many fractious tribes and village-dwellers, some reasonably refined, others savage and hostile. Different factions have very different cultures and practices, and may speak different languages.
>The Free Folk worship the Old Gods of the Forest, like their distant cousins in the North.
The differences between the clans are almost entirely cultural and you're telling me they have no culture?
>No, he didn't refer to women and children
Here, faggot, I'll spoonfeed you:
youtu.be/hwfGBeVx9pI?t=101

It's agreed here that Jorah dies this Sunday?

The books are no longer canon

I repeat

The books are no longer canon

The free folk are the First Men

The North is 56%

old baratheon was godly though, they were just retarded and not meant to rule

SOMEONE POST LEAKED EPISODES BEFORE I PISS MYSELF

>either the guy who had his family killed by Whitehills or the guy whose entire dialogue consists of "I hate those Whitehills fucking shits" betrays you to the Whitehills for not getting the Sentinel job
>have to spend most of the King's Landng subplot sucking up to Tyrion only for him to end up getting arrested right before he can help
>Ramsay ex machina fucks up half a chapter's worth of build up
>Asher's reinforcements bought with Dany's gold end up being 20 worthless jobbers (not good men at all) that get either him or his brother killed
It's like the entire world conspires to fuck the player in the ass no matter what he does.

THERES YOUR LEAK

as if i wasnt sick of ramsay enough in the show, they just had to amplify his 20 men faggotry up to 11 in the game.

Brienne's motivation was about unrequited love for Renly. It had nothing to do with 'breaking the glass ceiling' of knighthood for women. Sure, She was honorable to a fault, but that was just her nature. Adding some bullshit desire to get recognized for being Knightly actually cheapens her character - It makes her motivations questionable. Is she being honorable because that's who she is? or is it for the accolades?

>Not really. It was fucking shit.
If Brienne never gets knighted, then her arc is never completed. What a shitty thing to do, leaving a character arc incomplete. It needed to be done, because that's her story. That's the story people want to see.

>The Free Folk consist of a wide variety of many fractious tribes and village-dwellers, some reasonably refined, others savage and hostile.
The only freefolk that regards blood lineage, are the Thenns.(in the books) They are the exception to the rule.
Everyone else follows leaders they respect. Their cultures are born out of isolation and happenstance. None of which forbids women from fighting, if they so choose.
Even if you argued about a hypothetical tribe, who hypothetically forbade women from fighting, that still wouldn't change the fact that the trib tormund is from, allows female fighters. And he's the one who said fuck tradition.

>The Free Folk worship the Old Gods of the Forest, like their distant cousins in the North.
The old gods don't forbid women from fighting. It's the faith of the seven, who introduced the archetypes of men and women. In fact, in the show, when Bran meet the children of the forest, Leaf fights. The Mormonts have fighting women. The Crannogmen have fighting women. Dorne has fighting women. Even Ned encouraged Arya to train with the sword.(He thought she's grow out of it, but still) The tradition of knighthood being male, seems to be an Andal thing. So why would Tormund regard it?

Also, just because you live in a society with traditions. That doesn't mean you follow them. Tormund was kind of an outlier for following a King. And then he made himself a further outlier by following Jon. He had to say "fuck tradition" in his own story, in order to agree to take his people south peaceably. It's right there in the scene you posted.

Brienne was training to fight before she fell in love with Renly. Sure her love for Renly adds a layer onto her character. But she's always wanted to fight.

Nah, she wanted to be a regular girl when she was young. She isnt a dyke or a tranny.
Fighting is just what shes good at.

Attached: 1406478676263.jpg (4336x3056, 3.9M)

> That's the story people want to see.
That's the story the normalfag pieces of shit that the hack writers are pandering to. Her "arc" didn't need to end with her being a knight at all.
> None of which forbids women from fighting, if they so choose.
No culture in which any sizeable percentage of women become warriors can survive for any period of time. Your previous argument is that the freefolk had no traditions, and yet now you're saying they only don't have certain traditions, make up your mind.

I see you also didn't respond to the link I posted cause you know it BTFO's you completely.

I could have sworn she was trained in martial arts, before she came of age. And then the story of her being fucked with by boys, was during a dance or ball, or some shit in her teens.

>Renly Baratheon had been more than a king to her. She had loved him since first he came to Tarth on his leisurely lord’s progress, to mark his coming of age. Her father welcomed him with a feast and commanded her to attend; elsewise she would have hidden in her room like some wounded beast. She had been no older than Sansa, more afraid of sniggers than of swords. They will know about the rose, she told Lord Selwyn, they will laugh at me. But the Evenstar would not relent.
>And Renly Baratheon had shown her every courtesy, as if she were a proper maid, and pretty. He even danced with her, and in his arms she’d felt graceful, and her feet had floated across the floor. Later others begged a dance of her, because of his example. From that day forth, she wanted only to be close to Lord Renly, to serve him and protect him.

Only one passing mention of swords.

This user got it right

Attached: Brienne_and_the_bear.jpg (421x236, 17K)

>Her "arc" didn't need to end with her being a knight at all.
Well now we're in the realm of subjectivity.

>No culture in which any sizeable percentage of women become warriors can survive for any period of time.
Having the option to become warriors, doesn't mean that most women do. It's all about choices. And more likely than not, women are going to choose to avoid war.
>Your previous argument is that the freefolk had no traditions
No, my argument was that their traditions were so sparse, that they could never form a real civilization. They're doomed to be hunters and gatherers forever.

>I see you also didn't respond to the link I posted
That was actually the least important aspect of your argument, that I forgot about it. It's simple. Jon does say women and children. But then he also says elderly and sickly. Implying MEN who are incapable of fighting. And the women he's referring to, are specifically the ones who don't fight. Obviously he fell in love with a spearwife, so he knows damn well that women can fight too. He just used an general expression.

To be honest, Erron is a Villain Sue.

>And then the story of her being fucked with by boys
She was almost an adult by that point, the ball was presented by her father to find a husband for her.

>more afraid of sniggers than of swords.
>Only one mentions.
Well why do you think this was mentioned? Because Brienne would be how old? Sansa was 11-12 by that point, right? So Brienne was probably well along in her training at that point. She we comfortable with swords. While uncomfortable in social situations.

>From that day forth, she wanted only to be close to Lord Renly, to serve him and protect him.
Why would she even have the idea that she could/should protect Renly, unless she already thought she had the skill for it?

And most men didn’t fight in war either. Do people not realize that the vast majority of men during war time will not be any where near a battlefield. The nation needs a booming economy so having most men fight would be pointless. There’s no reason the same amount of men and women could fight since so few actually do.

What about this?
>It may be that I will need to kill him, she told herself one night as she paced about the camp. The notion made her queasy. Her old master-at-arms had always questioned whether she was hard enough for battle. "You have a man's strength in your arms," Ser Goodwin had said to her, more than once, "but your heart is as soft as any maid's. It is one thing to train in the yard with a blunted sword in hand, and another to drive a foot of sharpened steel into a man's gut and see the light go out of his eyes." To toughen her, Ser Goodwin used to send her to her father's butcher to slaughter lambs and suckling pigs. The piglets squealed and the lambs screamed like frightened children. By the time the butchering was done Brienne had been blind with tears, her clothes so bloody that she had given them to her maid to burn. But Ser Goodwin still had doubts. "A piglet is a piglet. It is different with a man. When I was a squire young as you, I had a friend who was strong and quick and agile, a champion in the yard. We all knew that one day he would be a splendid knight. Then war came to the Stepstones. I saw my friend drive his foeman to his knees and knock the axe from his hand, but when he might have finished he held back for half a heartbeat. In battle half a heartbeat is a lifetime. The man slipped out his dirk and found a chink in my friend's armor. His strength, his speed, his valor, all his hard-won skill . . . it was worth less than a mummer's fart, because he flinched from killing. Remember that, girl."

tldr: Her days training as a young girl. It's not specified how old. But judging by the language her master of arms uses, she must not have been an adult.
