they are the biggest blockbusters right now (marvel that is, dc is dead)
until they start getting diminishing returns they'll keep the pace.

Westerns were THE cash cow since the beginning of film in the very beginning of 20th century and started die out in 70's (with occasional multi-genre movie once every two years or a spoof)
going by that, and assuming Marvel capeshit really started around 2000, we have about 50 more years to go
but DC started shitting out movies from 50's, so going by that, we should be seeing peak comic kino (the equivalent of "Once Upon a Time in the West") right now

End Game is most likely the peak but the descent from the peak will be really slow. Captain Marvel 2 and Black Panther 2 will make another billion each, same with the next Spider Man. Then they will probably have 1-3 more super successful new franchises, like She Hulk or something. Then 1-2 more crossover Avengers movies that don't make as much money as End Game/Infinity War. Then some flops and a quiet death. I see cape shit remaining at the top until 2025 or so.

These are both very plausible scenarios.

I'm more concerned about the studio here than the dominant genre. I don't think one corporation should have lording control over all of pop culture.

It went young adult -> capeshit, so when they find the next big thing for the masses, it'll shift to that. They dabbled in anime adaptations but that's not going to fly here, especially with how much they neutered every attempt.

As far as I'm concerned the MCU is over. Feige might want us to believe that Far From Home is the end of Phase3 but as Endgame was Stan Lee's final cameo this is essentially where it stops.

I just wish capeshit was either contained in Yea Forums, or another board was created for capeshit.

But it seems like most treads about capeshit are just for shitting on capeshit endlessly. I guess in a couple weeks after Infinity War the amount of capeshit threads will finally cool down.

It's impossible to filter out all the capeshit, you can get some of them by filtering the most popular titles but otherwise you have to compile a list of 8 million ebic suberheroes and filter them all

In my opinion I don't think the coming years for marvel will be very good. They're going full WOKE by killing off most of the memorable main characters and having rushed unlikable and forgettable female characters take their place. Captain marvel especially isn't interesting or deep so I don't know whats going to happen with her.
