Almost all of the movie was fan service, and very little of it what anyone wanted. There's no repercussions to anything, especially not his actions. I don't disagree with what he was doing either, but in their world what he was doing was terrible and they just went, OH WELL.

They tried to play it off like that's a bad thing in the dialogue, but he wasn't wrong in doing so. They also tried to make it about how "that wouldn't bring his family back" in the most trite style of writing they could think of, when he was actually doing it because he's pissed they survived the snap and not his wholesome family.
