They often use camera perspective to convey this as well -- for instance, S1 it appears to Daniel as if Johnny is telling Miguel to fight dirty. S2 it looks to Miguel as if Sam initiated with Tory at the rink, or Robby seeming to be attacking Tory.

It's interesting because I think it is a sort of tie in with an overarching theme of the show, which is that perspective is everything when it comes to these sorts of interpersonal conflicts, or about the goodness of individuals.

Didn't pay close attention to the Sam vs Tory fight on the first watch because I was trying to keep track of all the fights, but after rewatching it while only focusing on Sam and Tory, the fight choreography as really awful. Kreese probably gave the landlord the old razzle-dazzle. He told plenty of lies this season, so I'm sure he would have no problem sweet talking the strip mall owner into thinking he's well off. Plus, the strip mall owner absolutely hates Johnny. I'm sure he was itching for an excuse to get rid of him. What he won't know that is Kreese is so much worse than Johnny, if the strip mall owner tries to pull the same stunt by raising the rent for a third time, Kreese is going to break him instead.

On Johnny's end, Johnny's just kinda dumb with business. He may have be able to get the lease in writing, but he could the strip mall owner's words at face value. I don't think the landlord wanted to take a chance on Johnny so he fed him a lot of bull so that he could pull off shady stunts like constantly raising the rent.
