I don't watch movies older than 5 years, autist

>DAF is good
It's actually great, but """people""" on here like to pretend otherwise

Based & Diamondpilled

Who was the top in the relationship?

They don't have to be gay. Holding hands is a sign of friendship in many countries.

>fwb

I don’t think they were gay

Comedy is DAFs only stand out feature.

Best Connery movie movie even though it's complete camp. Certainly the most fun.
>wacky serial killer antagonists
>fake moonlander chase
>Blofeld clone complete with cloned cat
>GIANT SPACE LASER

It's my favorite of Connery's run, easily. Comfy 70s Vegas setting, Jill St. John as Tiffany Case is easily one of the best Bond girls, Mr Went and Mr Kidd are a riot, and I love the ending on the cruise ship.

Even if you take into account the bad special effects and mediocre climax it's still excellent. Also I know a lot of people like to shit on Blofeld in this movie, but aside from the crossdressing scene I rather liked him.

One of my top 10 favorite Bond movies

Attached: Diamonds-Are-Forever-133.jpg (1916x816, 190K)

People blame Moore for brining the camp into Bond movies. Nope. This movie did.

Connory was mailing it in and didn’t even bother getting into reasonable shape. He was in better shape for Never Say Never Again ten years later.

Still, a comfy Bond for sure. I’ll take it over the Craig garbage

I disagree that he was phoning it in, He seems to be having way more fun in DAF than he did YOLT or NSNA.

>I’ll take it over the Craig garbage
I'll even take Kingsman: The Golden Circle over the Craig shit

Isn't this the one with the Playboy centerfold bodyguards, or am I mixing it up with Austin Powers?

Yeah, Bambi and Thumper, although they were more like prison guards than bodyguards, they were supposed to keep the real Wilard White contained while Blofeld was impersonating him

>Klaus Hergasheimer
>checking radiation shields

DAF should've been a fucking revenge movie with Bond on a warpath after Blofeld KILLS his WIFE in the previous film. Bottom of the Connery ones for me.

That would have worked great if Lazenby returned, but I can't imagine Connery's Bond falling in love or caring enough about one of his conquests to want revenge.

I mean it kinda was. Just wasn't explicit.

mr wint and mr dril

I've been dtf DAF since I was a kid. It's not the best Connery one, but might be the one I watched the most. For as stupid and cheesy as it is (most of those movies are, people seem to have forgotten), it's got a lot of great moments.

>that opening (which everyone should remember includes James Bond strangling a woman with her own top)
>a simple plot that they *still* managed to make convoluted
>the tart squad (crispin glover's dad!)
>vegas setting
>fuckin jimmy dean
>the mincingest blofeld we've got
>best shirley bassey song
>those big tits

I'm a fan.

Diamonds are Forever is fun as shit and I never understood the hate. Sure it's campier than a son of a bitch but that's the charm of the thing.

I wish i had a cockring

>I take the hits, that's how it's gonna be?

The fake moon landing makes me laugh

I saw this again on TV the other day and this is one of the creepiest depictions of gay men I've seen. What the hell made the people involved think this was a good idea?

>creepiest depictions of gay men

You mean accurate?

It was written in 1956 when it was still illegal to be gay in Britain. And gays are creepy.

They were both funny and menacing, they'd be the best henchmen in the series except that Nick Nack exists

Attached: nick_nack_tobasco.jpg (500x298, 119K)

nigga please

Attached: 13848-1532336916.jpg (640x360, 20K)

Let's just agree that the 70s had the best henchmen overall

Attached: roger-moore1.jpg (768x773, 79K)

probably by default. the only memorable ones from the 80s were mayday and BDT in license to kill

The ending to Moonraker is so great. Jaws realizing that "Hey! I'm a 7 foot deformed freak who is half-mute and and like to bite people to death. I'm probably not on this guy's list of perfect human specimens"

and i'm sure having a big tiddy ponytail gf WHO DEFINITELY HAD BRACES also factored into that decision a little bit.

It's hard to admit, but the camp Bond films are indirectly responsible for the capeshit quipfests we have today.
Of course, most Bond films are actually good unlike capeshit.

Does Bond even have many pairs of villains?

Attached: jaws and girlfriend moonraker james bond.jpg (886x1207, 379K)

There is nothing wrong with quips, only quips that ruin tension or otherwise dramatic scenes. The current era is the result of the "cinematic universe" concept drudged up in the late 2000s, nothing more

Superhero movies were genuinely good flicks until then

Attached: phantom.jpg (450x640, 130K)

The bonus situation was terrible.

Attached: Roger Moore and Jane Seymour - Live and Let Die.webm (1000x600, 2.61M)

Jane Seymour will always be my Bondgirl of choice. Hnnnnnnng

That really is quite the lineup of henchmen. They really went above and beyond for Moore's debut.

>robo-nibba
>vudu-nibba
>bubba-nibba
>sexy white devil cardstress
>LARPing uncle tom mufugga

For some reason people say she's one of the worst parts of any Bond movie, but she's actually important to the story. Moonraker is highly underrated.

It's wierd that they didn't add any braces though. It would have been such an obvious thing.

Attached: james bond moonraker.webm (640x272, 2.71M)

Even the name "tee-hee" is delightful.

They make good vans

I like it but it's a let down as a follow up to Ohmss. The sad thing is, Lazenby was an idiot, but some of his ideas he pushed for his follow up were good. A bearded, punished Bond trawling through seedy 60s Las Vegas looking for his wife's murderer, off the grid Licence to Kill style would have been fucking KINO

Attached: lazenby_1970.jpg (500x291, 89K)

I always liked their death scene

youtube.com/watch?v=k5e5GjnyMHI

brother in the bad checkin out dr quinn. id do the same.

Dunno, OHMSS would have been a perfect ending to Bond. Bond, having found love, deals with the consequences of his career path and is broken.

I'm sorry your b8 didn't take off

the Bond movies would benefit from some big risks. they still (moon)rake(r) in the fuckin cash, so of course they're not gonna upset the apple cart. they need to just restart from scratch with a young dude who's signed on for like 20 years, make the setting an ageless, out of time sort of part throwback part modern world, and continue to at least attempt to make the movies NOT just one string of set pieces with little in the way of character motivation. they kinda sorta do a good job of that w/ Craig.

Please fuck off and die

Is it coincidence that Moore's, Brosnan's, and Craig's respective first movies are also some of the best movies in the franchise?

>it's bad on purpose

Nick Nack is better, his short stature makes him creepier. He's also smart and cunning unlike that big lug

>Oh monsieur

Attached: nick-nack.jpg (736x507, 55K)

I'd even throw Dalton's first on that list

Will it be good?

Attached: james-bond-25-cast-jamaica-film-launch.jpg (2000x1333, 894K)

These are DAF's standout features.
Also this is the best track in any bond movie and it's not even the title song

Attached: Plenty_O'Toole_-_Profile.jpg (613x700, 222K)

Plenty O'Toole more like Plenty O'Boob amirite.

Nah his second movie was 10 times better. Living Daylights has a dull potboiler story and shitty villains, and the whole Afghan section was lame

wait wait wait, ana de armas is in this? shit.

No one knows what you're talking about, autist

Holy hell I've never realized it's him.

Slowpoke or what lmao.

I agree that TLD was a better movie but I think I'm biased because of my d'Abo boner and the theme song.

I always used to think it was Moore that made it too campy but after rewatching Connery's stuff years later it was just as bad about it.

Still, they're timeless movies. I'd take old Bond movies over 99% of the shit made in the last ten years.

feels like the series is stuck in a rut and any major change would be a problem because if you want a more realistic bond, we already have the bourne series, if you want a bond that does more wild stunts, we already have the mission impossible series, and if you want a more fun, campy bond, we have kingsman now. they have their thing and they have to stick to it or be labeled derivative of another competing espionage series and they probably can't strip down it down and start from scratch because everyone expects each film to be a 300 mil budget behemoth packed with product placement. these craig bonds have suffered for it and i don't even want to think about what the series will look like after he leaves.

Cuban qt mogging french qt

>the whole Afghan section was lame

The soundtrack on those bits make it all worthwhile desu.

>shitty villains,
fuck you. joe don baker was awesome

I meant I agree that License to Kill was a better movie, as much as I love TLD.

When are we ever going to get a Bond movie again where it's just him systematically fucking with some guy for revenge?

big problem is during the cold war they could make movies with russian villains
but the chinese market is too important to alienate and muslims are too sensitive
so they could redo LTK with drug cartels or some shit about bolivian water monopoly

cary is high as fuck.

The guy going to the sun at the end

Kek

>When are we ever going to get a Bond movie again where it's just him systematically fucking with some guy for revenge?
I do love how he uses his paranoia against him, making him destroy his own empire. It's a shame how many fags compare the show to Miami Vice or Commando with Arnie, it's actual quite Bond-like despite the basic story resembling the aforementioned shit. It has Q, M, two smoking hot Bond girls, gadgets, an over-the-top villain with a master plan, etc. Also people forget that the James Bond franchise is the father of the modern action movie, so it being influenced by something that in turn was influenced by Bond, not a big deal in my opinion.

Attached: pam_1.webm (1918x812, 849K)

Man Carey Lowell really was smokin hot in that.

I'm all for some kind of experimentation. Obviously that's something of substance and not just "Jane Bond" or whatever. Set the whole goddamn thing in a bygone era and stick to it. Update it and make Bond a recovering addict or something, or an alcoholic who goes on Jimmy McNulty benders. Take a movie where it's just him in a very small situation but the stakes are really high. I dunno. Wherever it goes after Craig is going to be troublesome, I'm sure.

She was great.

Attached: james bond licence to kill plane exit trouble.webm (1280x720, 1.31M)

I'd make the next Bond movie the most anti-PC thing imaginable.

Think Bond telling Dink that its 'Man talk' and slapping her ass to leave. Those moments throughout the whole movie.

Attached: 1525858114328.jpg (515x672, 47K)

As was Princess Kitana.

Attached: Sir Timothy Dalton.jpg (1768x2658, 1.05M)

We need a misogynist Bond who fucks bitches and then dumps then and laughs when the villain tries to use them as hostages. Just say he's a villain protagonist or whatever. It won't happen though

Right.

DAF is a hot mess.

It's a shame the originally planned climax couldn't be filmed, and that much of Lana Wood's material got left on the cutting room floor. It could have been much better than it ended up, though it still would have been best if Lazenby hadn't walked.

Switch Living Daylights and '06 Casino Royale.

Really good list though.

>Goldeneye
>God Tier
Stop. Just stop.

Take off the nostalgia goggles and it's Good Tier at best.

Goldfinger is also overrated, IMO, and Thunderball deserves to be higher.

And as much as I don't think DAF wasn't great, it also doesn't deserve to be be on the same tier as Moonraker.

Live and Let Die is pretty good but not great. It suddenly turns Thunderball-tier with a stupid comedy boat chase cop bit that NEVER ENDS.

>Goldfinger is also overrated

delet.

Attached: james bond goldfinger.webm (2000x1125, 1.41M)

Goldeneye has a shart soundtrack and that scene in the sauna is God-awful but honestly it has a ton a great action (intro, tank, throwdown with 006 at the end), one of the best Q scenes AND one of the best M scenes, Valentin being cool, Boris being the perfect little choad, and Natalya being so hot she's almost out of Pierce Brosnan's league.

Goldfinger is great, but it really drags when Bond gets imprisoned.

Thunderball is also really good until the big fight scene at the end. Underwater fight scenes were not very thrilling back in the 60s.

>License to Kill
You picked the wrong Dalton film.

>Goldeneye
Meh. I love Tina Turner, but The World is Not Enough has far and away the best theme from the Brosnan era, and I'd even rate Tomorrow Never Dies ahead of Goldeneye in that respect.

>For Your Eyes Only ahead of Octopussy
OK, so "All Time High" loses points for not incorporating the movie title, I'll grant that, but it's still a better song, IMO.

>no Thunderball
Tom Jones literally fucking passed out on that final note.

>no You Only Live Twice
I mean, Nancy Sinatra may not be everyone's cup of tea, but that theme is better than at least half of the ones you have up there.

>no A View to a Kill
Duran Duran and Christopher Walken were the only good things about that movie.

>Duran Duran and Christopher Walken were the only good things about that movie.

True.

Attached: james bond a view to kill54.webm (720x306, 684K)

>no braces

But of course you are

that's never stopped Bond girls before

Attached: the-world-is-not-enough-0660.jpg (620x286, 36K)

It is, though. It's absolutely still great, and the first half is indeed God Tier, but as a complete film it's not quite so high, IMO.

>Natalya being so hot she's almost out of Pierce Brosnan's league
Please. Izabella Scorupco is a mid-tier Bond Girl at best. There's a reason why all of the publicity at the time focused on Famke Janssen.

>one of the best M scenes
With the worst M.

And it was mostly forgettable, IMO. Sean Bean outshone Brosnan (who didn't really hit his stride until Tomorrow Never Dies, IMO). Honestly, I really don't think it would be so highly regarded except for nostalgia related to the video game.

>it really drags when Bond gets imprisoned
That's what I mean. That and Honor Blackman being too old (she was nearly 40) to be the main love interest. If it were not for the big step down in the second half of the film, I'd absolutely put it in the top tier, and maybe even argue it as the best film in the series, but as it stands I can't rate it quite that high.

>Thunderball is also really good until the big fight scene at the end.
The underwater parts are maybe a bit weak, but not so much to bring the whole movie down, IMO. Plus, Claudine Auger is the one of the two best Bond Girls of the Connery era (and easily top five overall).

Where was the point they stopped being spy films and turned into full blown action films? You Only Live Twice?

We've lost Sir Roger Moore and I fear Sir Sean Connery is not long for this world.

Attached: james bonds.png (510x1924, 1.68M)

You Only Live Twice has plenty of spy stuff. FFS, the whole premise is Bond faking his death and going into deep cover.

I'd say it happened during the Moore era.

literally what the fuck did he mean by that

I agree in some way. But YOLT also had the secret underground lair, the ninja army, the rocket launcher cigarette. It kinda feels like YOLT was the point where Bond lost all its subtle spy nuance.

One the one hand, Connery will be 89 in a few months, but on the other, Moore was three years older than him, and also had a history of health problems (he was diabetic in his later years, and the bout with cancer that ultimately killed him was not his first).

Moore > Lazenby > Connery > Dalton > Brosnan > Craig

It's a view to die for.

Attached: james bond skyfall patrice fight.webm (550x309, 2.73M)

Dalton looks so badass that he could still be Bond even today.

Where do Anons think the franchise will go after Craig? It's likely that we only get another bond around 2022/2023.

I think they probably will focus more on Asia for a change and to get a slice of their markets. I wonder if they'll go back to a more comedic style.

Dr. No had a secret lair, too, though, and Goldfinger was the one that started the trend of having the climax be a big battle scene.

Really, the only film that plaid the spy stuff almost completely straight was From Russia with Love.

Attached: Roger Deakins Awards.jpg (632x770, 140K)

Yeah you're right. I just feel that Dr No and Goldfinger handled both those elements with a bit more subtelty - as ridiculous as they were.

The Living Daylights is another one that does the spy stuff pretty well. Except for the whole Afghanistan sequence at the end.

>Where do Anons think the franchise will go after Craig?
If it's not a hard reboot that leads to re-adapting all of the Fleming novels (The Spy Who Loved Me possibly excepted), in order this time and more faithfully, then I really don't care. And that's not going to happen for a number of reasons.

I mostly lost interest in the films in the Brosnan era (in spite of Pierce himself being a good Bond), and have never cared for Craig at all.

Sir Roger Deakins when?

Attached: Skyfall.webm (1645x700, 2.75M)

probably. YOLT is where most of the austin powers stuff came from.

obviously "a view to kill" is a common phrase but the screenwriter somehow misheard this saying his entire life as "a view to A kill" and nobody stopped to actually fix it so they all went along with it like a bunch of fucking idiots

Attached: 1362103270674.jpg (2000x2000, 1.56M)

god when you see these shots out of context it really hits home what a hack deakins is

Attached: 13621032701834.jpg (2000x2000, 1.54M)

>this will be the longest gap between Bond movies since Dalton retired
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

OHMSS does it pretty well, too, aside from Blofeld inexplicably not recognizing Bond from their previous meeting (which is the fault of the script following the book too closely and failing to account for YOLT coming ahead of it instead of after).

Whoever said Claudine Auger is top 5 Bond girls and Thunderball is underrated is right on both counts.

You Only Live Twice best theme. Live and Let Die best actual song in the wild. d'Abo best girl, have you seen her nude scenes in that one monster movie? Holy shit she's a smokeshow.

Thunderball has too much underwater shit and the plot is too much of a retread of Dr. No. It has a great escapist feel to it but it's one of Connery's weakest,

The underwater bits are fine except for the big battle at the end, and even that isn't horrible. And, aside from being set in the Caribbean, it's no more a retread of Dr. No than You Only Live Twice is.

Don't get me wrong the underwater parts are well-filmed but there is just too much of it. It gets tiresome. As for You Only Live Twice it's not really a retread because a lot of it is based around Japanese culture.

>d'Abo best girl
>she's a smokeshow.
It's just a shame that she didn't really get to a chance to show it off much in The Living Daylights.

Her cousin Olivia was pretty cute, too.

My top five, in chronological order, would be:

-Ursula Andress
-Claudine Auger
-Diana Rigg
-Lana Wood (shame she gets only a couple of scenes)
-Maryam d'Abo

Which is why I said "aside from being set in the Caribbean." Take the setting away and look at the basic plot structure, and if anything YOLT is more similar to Dr. No than Thunderball is. The two latter feel similar because they are both set in the Caribbean (though one is Jamaica and the other is the Bahamas), but complaining about that would be like complaining that FRWL and OHMSS are both set in Europe.

She was also in Conan the Destroyer, and had a very sexy nude scene with Bo Derek in Bolero (at age 14).

>is her cousin?
First cousin once-removed, technically. Olivia is about eight years younger. They lived together in L.A. for a while.

Well Europe is more varied than the Caribbean, where every country is the same retarded black/brown people. Wait, I guess Europe isn't too far behind

YOLT at the very least went big, with the volcano base. Thunderball went small with the same threat to the coastal US that Dr. No had.

I had no idea, thought they just happened to share the same surname. Olivia is hotter btw

If anything, though, Thunderball was copying Goldfinger, not Dr. No.

And blame Fleming for the setting. Dude lived in Jamaica, so of course he's going to set several books in the Caribbean. At least Thunderball left Jamaica, unlike Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun (in the novels: the films moved the settings to Louisiana and the fictional island of San Monique, and to Thailand, respectively).

My dad, who is also a Bond fan, told me something that has always stuck with me. "In the 50s and 60s, going to the Caribbean was an American dream. People didn't have the money to travel. James Bond movies gave them something they could never have." Now that cruises are cheaper and plenty of folks have been there, it's not the same. That's why since the 80s, Bond movies have had more European and far east settings

Yeah, and as I said, they were already trying to vary the setting more by the 70s. That's why the settings for LALD and TMWTGG were changed from the novels.

The dream of the Caribbean actually started to fade with the revolution in Cuba. Prior to that, Havana had been the hottest destination for Americans, and no real substitute has ever arisen.

I would love to visit Havana in the fifties
