Why do historical shows and movies always promote female warriors and female strenght, and adultery even with the highest of respectable kings and lords and make them out as degenerates?? Why do they not stick to the real stories and change it up, yet claim it's historically accurate, it really annoying, you always eventually end up seeing it in the movie or the show, it's so frustrating when you're really passionate about history and see these flaws and lies since you have studied the historical events carefully
Movies and Shows with historical inaccuracies
It's all propaganda. That is the point of all media.
To be fair Hild wasn't that much of a warrior. Sure she wears armour but in all the fights she just stabbed a couple of guys when they didn't see her coming if I remember the show correctly. Uhtred's first girlfriend was a fighter but it was more common for danes irl
they want the guurl power audience.
Powerful women of antiquity gained it through sex.
Should have started the thread with that far inferior show, Vikings. Hild in TLK really does fuck all.
>people didn't commit adultery in the past
based retardo
it's because when you are a hollywood producer, an actor, or a writer, you are by definition and fucking dumbass so when you are told "we need to find a way to inspire young girls" the only way your dumb-ass can think to do it is by pandering in the most lowest common denominator simplistic, crayon-eating way possible that even one actual 12 year old girl picked at random from among the population of earth could come up with better ideas than these coked-up hypocrites.
Vikings for an example, atelstan the priest eventually has sex out of wedlock yet his a saint, it just makes no sense, and the stories are suppose to be based off of history, it's so stupid
No you idiot, they just assume that they all had sex out of a wedlock without any proof since they think it's more "realistic" and I think it's just degrading, they should just stick to the stories written and passed on throughout history rather than assume that they were more degenerate than what historical facts state
>Why do historical shows and movies always promote female warriors and female strenght
Pulls in female audiences and sexualises women for men.
>adultery even with the highest of respectable kings and lords and make them out as degenerates
Entertainment value and easy character flaws.
>Why do they not stick to the real stories and change it up
Because 'real' stories are not entertainment. It's why tabloids and news sensationalise, and why biopics are always bullshit. In entertainment, making stories into classical, complete stories with arcs is the name of the game.
>yet claim it's historically accurate
Marketing authenticity.
>it really annoying, you always eventually end up seeing it in the movie or the show
Protip: you don't 'eventually' end up seeing it, you see it always and you just have your suspension of disbelief pulled out from under you.
>it's so frustrating when you're really passionate about history and see these flaws and lies since you have studied the historical events carefully
Sadly, accuracy isn't the name of the game and it's already a momentous challenge. The more you'll learn about history or storytelling, the more you'll come to realise that there aren't historically accurate shows or movies, period.
>>TL;DR
money.
since when movies and shows were about historical accuracy? this was never the case.
although very rare, female warriors did exist.
and adultery also happened, and clerics having sex also happened. There has been A LOT of children born to nuns and friars.
In fact I'd say friars and nuns today take their vows much more seriously than friars and nuns in the middle ages.
Since the invention of historical movies
you really think jews are going to portray saints well?
fpbp
Is that the short haired nun from season one?
not really. almost every "historical" movie is historically inaccurate. you only like gladiator because it has white guys doing white guy shit, even though it's filled with historical inaccuracies.
women are just as strong as men you bigot
You'd like to think so, but it's the same thing as shakespeare writing anything set before his life.
It's a storytelling world with different rules that we can use to up stakes and make interesting characters out of, that's easily believeable because we're aware of the event that occured.
It's no different than anything with "based on a true story" at the beginning that is entirely made up.
DESTINY
This is OP, I've also noticed that women in most cases make the man look like an idiot when in dialogue scenes, in the real world any woman or man of lower status would get beheaded or punished at the very least for being so level headed but women for some reason get a special pass in these shows and movies, it's so stupid
Yeah, I just used her as an example, but there's also a lot of other shows and movies that promote the same agenda
Are you still allowed to talk about jews on Yea Forums? Thought that it's been compromised for years now
Because only idiot trustfund babbies are able to pursue the arts and entertainment as a viable career option, so the people at the forefront of our culture are in fact the least qualified to make any meaningful observations on the human experience
>wah why are wymyn being shown in a good manner and not in the kitchens where they belong waah
quite literally have sex
We all fall short of the glory of God. St. Augustine had a live-in girlfriend for many years, and perhaps even fathered a child, before he converted in earnest and became a priest. Athelstan is portrayed as a conflicted young man, taken in with pagans, who experiences their way of life, before ultimately being martyred for his renewed faith. Not that unlikely, if not historically accurate.
mmmm history
>also noticed that women in most cases make the man look like an idiot when in dialogue scenes
It's a good trick. Makes male characters learn and grow, makes women seem like they're smart or respectable.
>in the real world any woman or man of lower status would get beheaded or punished at the very least for being so level headed but women for some reason get a special pass in these shows and movies, it's so stupid
In the real world, things wouldn't have been so much different from today. It's unrealistic that people would act beyond their station, sure. And how people might act fluctuates on context sure, just as how an inner city liberal female, a woman in an afghanistan household, a mormon wife or a mainland chinese housewife might differ in social status and behaviour. But the same shit would happen historically. Realistically no one wants to go around beheading willy nilly. Though there are the general butt-nakeds of history.
there have been fucking popes that had a lot of children
For me. It is this peice of shit
>Because 'real' stories are not entertainment.
There you are the wrong kiddo. It's like Mr. Plinkett once said:
>"Anything can be interesting, depends on how it's made."
For example, in Better Call Saul there are scenes where Jimmy paints the walls, but it's actually kino. The opposite would be STD's massive space battles that are boring as fuck.
any woman from that time period would be able to kick any of our asses with 1 hand
>she stoops to conquer
because it’s in the historical FICTION books faggot retard
