I generally dislike dualwielding but wouldn't mind if it was a combination that makes sense, like a spear and a shortsword or a bastard sword and a dagger. 2 swords not only make absolutely no sense, it's also an insult towards the legendary sword itself to be used with another as equals. dual wielding wasnt common not because its impossible but because it was expensive and impractical. not impractical because it doesnt work but impractical because: 1. you'd need the money for two swords 2. you'd need specific training with two swords which would require becoming a real expert at it and it'd be better spent learning other techniques as 3. sword vs sword really only happened in duels or random street fights so youd have to be carrying around two swords when attacked to even ever use such training OR you'd bring two against someone with one during some honor duel which would seem unfair, neither of which was likely, what was likely was a sword and dagger since you COULD carry around both easily so that form of fighting was practiced 4. in an actual battle a sword itself wasnt the best weapon it was more of your back up weapon once you lost your main weapon and the battle got chaotic and close, unless on a horse in which case you only have on free hand for one sword, during a battle a spear or polearm of some kind would be better or a bow and arrow, also youd likely want a shield so sword and shield in a battle was something people practiced not sword and sword because obviously a shield is very useful in a battle scenario.

all that said yes you can learn to fight with two swords, people have and did and if you think its "unrealistic" its only unrealistic based on the fact it wasnt likely to happen and required a lot of skill/practice so few people bothered but its stupid to think its not doable, common sense tells you if you block a sword with one and then stab the person with the other this is not "impossible" at all what so ever, it was just impractical to spend time learning.

And long two-handed swords tend to fare really badly in anything except for formation fighting, the reach doesn't tend to matter that much when both combatants are armored, since you're just thrusting anyways.

I'm guessing you've no martial training so I'll be brief but you can look up videos or even just read the wikipedia page on a few weapons.
Using two swords is better than one for the same reason that using a cloak or parrying dagger alongside a sword is good--you have something to deflect blows with.
You're very rarely, if ever, going to strike with your off-hand sword. Yes, you strike with your core, but that isn't relevant.
Dual-wielding swords WAS a historical style, and practiced famously in the east with two short-swords, and preserved through many books and modern martial arts. It was still extremely specialized and probably a waste of time back then, but it did see use.
In the west particularly, slashing and chopping tended to be much shitter due to better armor, so most dueling was done via thrusting attacks. When you're thrusting with a sword on foot, the only way to do it well is to use two hands, typically one on the blade. Doing this with a two-handed sword is extremely clunky and although you'll have a slightly longer reach over a hand and a half sword or shortsword, the reach won't be able to do much outside of the first thrust, since you'll be unable to recover and maneuver if you miss. And that's assuming you even have the capability to thrust with your two-hander, since the purpose of the sword is to defeat pikes and spears and wouldn't really have any reason to have the tip sharpened.
Reach is great with something like a spear where you can shorten it as needed, but you can't do that with a zweihander because of the weigh distribution.

Thats not to say that the jap swordsmiths were unskilled, of course, they did very well with the materials availible. The real issue was the extremely low quality of japanese steel, as well as its scarcity. The ”forded 1000 times gajin” meme is somewhat accurate, except for the fact that it wasnt some hidden technique that made swords stronger, but rather a way of migitating the negative effects of working with low quality steel by spreading out concentrations of impurity, which simply wasnt needed in other parts of the world, where high quality steel was much more abundant.
The scarcity of iron on the isles was also the main reason why swords were made thin and sharp instead of the sturdier heavier weapons the europeans used, and for samurai armor being made from wood.

Not that user but try tying a stick onto your lower arm and swing it around for a bit. it will quickly become obvious that you cant reliably hit something with it, and when you do, you’re going to get stuck because you cant just drop the weapon when it catches on a rib. Most of a humans dexterity and mobility is in the wrist/fingers, and while a golden fist is at the very least a decent bludgeoning tool, a wrist sword is bound to either break your arm or be to slow and cumbersome to fight with. You cant even parry with it properly and are reduced to slashes from above/below and thrusts.
