I loved the show, but the fact that it had required reading to understand it was a huge detriment for the show.

Despite only 13% of the tv watching population knowing what this show was, 50% of the viewership came from niche nerds.

The main purpose and message of of the show was to insert and retcon as many minorities into the Watchmen franchise as possible so the showrunner can virtue signal, everything else came secondary.
The best ideas TV Watchmen has to offer could be described as "clever" and that's it.

A great soundtrack, great production and great actors can only do so much with what they were given.
