I think the film broke it's own time travel rules multiple times. If you take something out of your own time line and take it into the future the events of your past can't occur. But if you create alternate realities by going to the past you shouldn't be able to travel back to them and Cap shouldn't appear as an old man in the main time line. If those changes are the main time line then the Thor plot is completely ruined

It would be much more interesting if the time travel did affect their future. They could use some plot bullshit to prevent the avengers from abusing this to prevent thanos' birth or the like, as well.

I mean, there's a lot of plot holes in the movie but this isn't one of them. How do you think people naturally progress through time normally anyway? They age.

If you are talking about the time stone, Ancient One just said she needed it to protect her timeline...which makes sense. They put back the other ones for basically same reason, to affect other timelines as little as possible. Having said that, time travel is never a good idea (unless it's a movie about time travel)

Yeah, the long-ass setup until Thanos comes back is sorely lacking of urgency of any kind. There is no threat anymore, Thanos is dead and people are starting to move on, they just decide to engage in time travel bullshit to undo the catastrophe (not even gonna mention how bringing 5 billion people back to life all at once would be equally catastrophic) just so that Infinity War could have had its "heartbreaking moment" without actually decimating the cast for future films

They say in the movie that they can't kill Thanos in the past because then the events of the movie leading up to them would not have happened. but then they end up doing exactly died because they end up killing Thanos in the future which is actually the Thanos from the past which means that Infinity war never even happens. which would have been fine because then Thanos not existing creates a new timeline but they're old timeline still exist when then because he dies and not one they continue on the only problem with that theory is that when captain America goes back in time he f****** survives in into old age in the old timeline even though there would have been a branching off timeline where Thanos doesn't exist anymore in the past
