every single thing you said OP just makes me like Herzog more. I get it, some of his flicks and documentaries aren't the best, but at least they're interesting failures
Don't mind me, just posting his peak, it was all downhill from here

Fun fact: he didn't pull a gun on Kinski. Basically he came up to Kinski as he was trying to leave the jungle during the filming of Aguirre and basically just told him if he left he would be dead and he meant it. Kinski apparently turned white and then came back to finish the film. Kinski's autobiography (which is allegedly mostly lies) added Herzog being armed to the story. Herzog denies it, "I was not armed... but when I told him I would kill him I meant it."
HAHAHAHA. I just got up to the bit where the producer decides to kill Kinski just to not work with him. Fucking classic. How Herzog managed to work with him 5 times is beyond me.

>lies in his documentaries The other points are chad but this one isn't. It's just scummy.

When they filmed Fitzcarraldo they had a native tribe including their chieftain with them. Kinksi went into one of his rages and the natives appeared to be visibly unsettled. The chief later told Herzog that the natives weren't really afraid of Kinski throwing a fit, but they were afraid of Herzog because he was so calm during it.

you also forgot when he was forced under gunpoint to speak french (he hates speaking french) youtube.com/watch?v=6pY-0JfEdLY he was also shoot multiple times while shooting a documentaries he also shot a documentary about a vulcano that was meant to explode that nearly killed him but it didn't actually explode you also forgot >After these two accidents, Herzog promised the actors that if they made it through the rest of filming without any more injuries he would jump into a cactus patch and allow the actors to film him doing so. The film was finished without any further injuries and the director made good his promise and dived into the cacti. Herzog has said, "Getting out was a lot more difficult than jumping in."[ and you also forgot about a documentary he made where a woman survived a plane crash, a plane crash HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_of_Hope_(film) >Herzog was inspired to make this film since he had narrowly avoided taking the same flight while he was location scouting for Aguirre, Wrath of God. His reservation was canceled due to a last minute change in itinerary
there's more but I always forgot. he's a fucking madman
Asher Cox
>appears in stuff like American Dad and Star Wars series just for the lukz >appears in Harmony Korine's films as well
Also, friendly reminder that Herzog was raised in a remote ass village in the German Alps, lived in a house without running water, a flushing toilet and a telephone, never saw films as a kid, and didn't even know that cinema existed until a traveling projectionist came by the one-room schoolhouse in Sachrang, when he was like 11.
When he finally was introduced to films, he thought they were real and thus got very upset at any mistakes he saw that none of his friends cared about.
Cause you have to be a scoundrel to make it, not an artist.
Luke Thompson
With Fitz I prefer German because Kinski's rage comes out more naturally. In Nosferatu he's pretty subdued so I wouldn't think it makes much difference.
