Every change they made was for the worse and none of them had to be made, the only reason to do it was to try to play it safe which only succeeded in dumbing it down.

Discounting the comic entirely its still a badly animated story filled with nonsensical characters like WW and an unsatisfactory ending.

What changed from the comic that made you felt that way for the movie ?

It was okay, but I’m still waiting for an adaptation of Mark Millar’s magnum opus, The Unfunnies.

Changing Lex's personality so that they could end it with him retiring and handing over the presidency to Blacked Jimmy, changing a man with boundless desire to achieve and the only person alive with the drive to keep fighting pretty much a god despite all the danger into a tired old man, a huge change from the comic counterpart and a much, much, much weaker version who seems incongruous with what was portrayed earlier, just because they wanted to end with the black guy leading them. Safer, but stupider.

Wonder Woman's entire character is now a nonsensical aspect of the film as she meets up with a dictator even though she repeatedly says she hates men, works with said dictator as he grows more tyrannical even though she just thinks of him as a friend and nothing more, and then breaks the lasso while reiterating how much she hates men only to save a man because she didn't want Batman to win because he was a man. A stark and jarring depature from her straightforwards attraction, admiration and love she had in the original that made sense with these actions they decided to keep in even as they radically altered her character to prevent showing a woman in a bad light or implying she only "Settled" for women at the end, and of course she doesn't look like a crone anymore, just grey hair now because that would be too risky to show.

Just... everything with Bizarro. "America first', really? His much stronger arc was absolutely butchered for safer but completely garbage meta commentary on Trump that feels so very dated even now. The comic book almost two decades on feels less dated than this thing that was just released.

The bullies who get fought off by the little girl which needs no further analysis, if they're going to lazily slap in a garbage trope then its not worth anything more.

And then Batmans parents not being shot by Superman's henchmen so now his whole character is weaker and downright nonsensical after he sees him cry.

I ran out of room.

keep going you weak ass bitch

How much more do you need than three of the four main characters and two of the three major arcs?

I WANT EVERYTHING GOD DAMMIT

I mean the only thing else I can't just handwave and say they didn't have the time or budget for, like a giant superhero brawl on the Whitehouse front lawn that Superman handily wins, or because they thought it was too out there even though they're adapting the story who the fuck cares if its out there like the finale that revealed Superman was an advanced human sent back in time to show how great we can become, was the dumb as hell Green Lantern bit.

I'm sure they patted themselves on the back quite hard for having Hal make a misogynistic comment to the man he was just in a life or death struggle with and just affirmed to the departing as he called it "Women, am I right?" that he was heading to the white house, but maybe if you want to show the mean old sexist get punched don't have it be right when his fellow soldiers are fucking dying and right behind the guy like he was casually talking to him at a bar. I thought the Green Lantern bit as a whole was the weakest section of that whole story but my god did they dumb it down to appeal to whoever laughs at those stupid four page comics where a girl punches out a caricature.

Wow even when I'm not talking about that much I still almost run out of room. Go read the much more superior comic because whatever you liked about this thing it did it better, and I'm including animation in that.

Perman: Edson was a fun movie

>And then Batmans parents not being shot by Superman's henchmen

He wasn't so much Superman's henchman as Stalin's illigitmate son and just ended up working for Superman after Stalin died.

But yes every change they made actually ended up undermining the story.

Taking out Pyotr of the story altogether means he isn't the one who kills Russian Batman's parents or poisons Stalin. So now the kid becomes Russian Batman because Superman couldn't save his parents? But then Superman kills Stalin, the guy who actually caused Russian Batman's parents to die, so why is Russian Batman still mad at Superman? And couldn't Russian Superman take him in to watch over him?

I can accept they didn't have time for the character as he did have a lot of backstory and things that would need explaining, and Superman killing Stalin is a big change but one I could have accepted if they just were consistent with the rest of the story.

Like with Wonder Woman, they ripped out the motivations for Batman but kept his scenes so they could have the helicopter chase just because they wanted to slap in a cheap action sequence. The people making this genuinely didn't seem to understand why any character did anything in the original book but have to keep those fun big moments! Except the bottle one, gotta change that too so its LOIS that breaks him.

Oh I already did, I just wanted to read some opinions on the movie. I stopped watching it halfway though because it was too boring and it looked bad, like the big poopy head that I am

Bottle scene got changed because Lex got a hold of the city... somehow.

They literally handwave it away by saying "He was always ten steps ahead" right before Braniac turns on and blows up the city and reveals he was evil all along like the comic, but now Lex is in an iron man suit and fist/beamfights the ship along with Superman because holy shit these people did not get Lex Luthor.

Oh and they deleted his kid. I know its fairly minor but for all they cut out they did have time to give Lois new dialog saying she's too independent and focused on her job to ever have kids, so she doesn't have them because a woman having kids instead of chasing the career would be sexist. I'm not gonna pretend the kid's a big loss, just one more thing on the pile.

wait but then who is superman supposed to be? it's been years since I've read red son but wasn't he a direct descendant of luthor?

Superman killing Stalin would've worked if it doesn't have me asking "why doesn't Superman hunt down and kill Batman?" while watching.

It ends with Lex retiring and making Blacked Jimmy president and then saying he's going to go on an island with Lois or something, Superman reveals he's alive like in the comic and... that's it, that's the end. Superman is just Superman. The End nothing more to see here.

It's disappointing to find out that JM DeMatteis wrote this, but I'm willing to be open to the possibility that not all the changes are made by the writer.

>Superman is just Superman.
but
but that ruins the charm of the entire ending
we don't even see luthor making an utopia out of earth? jesus christ

>we don't even see luthor making an utopia out of earth?

Nope. It gives hints that he could, but it might just be him retiring.

>we don't even see luthor making an utopia out of earth?
Nope, retires, Black Jimmy is in charge now he's gonna go fuck off somewhere. Cause as we all know Lex Luthor is the type to give up.

He actually dismisses those ideas of doing that and just says he's going to chill with Lois.

Russian Batman in the book wants to take down Pyotr because he killed his parents and wants to take down Superman because he's still in charge. Russian Batman in the cartoon wants to take down Stalin just because he thinks Superman and Stalin are the same, but it just seems flimsy a motivation in this case, because Superman killed the actual person responsible for Russian Batman's parents' deaths.

>Russian Batman in the book wants to take down Pyotr
Wha? He works with Pyotr. He thinks Superman is the one who ordered his parents shot. That's why Pyotr gets the lobotomy treatment Batman was threatened with in the movie.

>Russian Batman in the cartoon wants to take down Stalin just because he thinks Superman and Stalin are the same, but it just seems flimsy a motivation in this case, because Superman killed the actual person responsible for Russian Batman's parents' deaths.
Yeah this part makes no sense in the movie, because its like "How dare you not save us slightly faster! I will blow up all these people to show that you, guy who liberated me, are just as bad as the person who put me in a gulag!"

Like in the comic he actually has reasons to think Superman is a tyrant, because he is. In the movie it makes no fucking sense.

>Wha? He works with Pyotr.

He does, but that's because he believes that Pyotr is human and can be taken down more easily. But he also knows that Pyotr shot his parents.

I completely forgot about this panel but now that I see it I remember reading it.

Point to you on that memory, I forgot it happened entirely.

all dc animated movies are cheap lazy cashgrabs, this one is no exception
I'd like to go into specifics to the story and characters of this movie, but i'd be giving it more attention than it deserves. 3/10 won't think about again

>usa good ussr bad

wow so nuanced and insightful

why wouldn't Bizarro be full on stars and stripes?

I'd rather live in Superman's USSR than in Muttmerica, it was basically a paradise on earth.
>but muh freedumbs
The only freedom you lose is to not be a degenerate piece of trash, so what if some people needed a brain chip to make them not commit crime and ruin society? I'm not even a commie but even I can see his world was preferable to the current state of the west

what if you geniunely commit a crime by accident

LEAVE THE HOUSE INCEL

how do you accidentally commit a crime?

just like any other mistake: ignorance, or not paying attention to everything you're doing 24/7

>No Pyotr
>No Bizzaro winning chess against Luthor and sacrificing himself
>Lex suddenly became good guy
>Wonder Woman became feminist bitch like General Holdo
>Lois Lane's relationship with Superman just banished into thin air.
>Lex and Lois are now modern lovebirds
>Batman kills civilians
>No final letter
>No loop ending (WTF were they thinking?)

Utterly, completely failed.

FFS why they can't do it right. It was a simple book and simple matter.

Nigga you are on Yea Forums, ain't no way you're not a degenerate. You'd be lobotimized first like the rest of us in his country.

>child accidentally shoots friend while playing with dad's gun.
That's how. Ignorance and poor safety conditions. Both the child and father have commited crimes at this point.

People here don't want to admit it, cause they suck DC's cock, but DC Animation has been in the shitter for years now. Everything from Batman Ninja to Hush, complete and utter garbage.

Like their film universe, they need to do a reboot. They've already told every story, but it's time to go back to the well, cause shit like Young Justice ain't getting it done.

>Everything from Batman Ninja to Hush, complete and utter garbage.

So just the past two years? Oh noes!

No, they just need to stick to the source material and not make any changes.

>they just need to stick to the source material and not make any changes.

That's literally impossible when they have to deal with running time limitations.

You can still be faithful to the source material and cut things around the edges. The fact of the matter is, all the changes in Red Son could've been prevented.

That wasn't the message at all.

What was the point of making Wondy a raging dyke?

Baldman bad
Alien Good

one thing i never understood about the comic is when superman blows up luthor says it was all part of keikaku from the begining, how the fuck was that the plan from the begining?

>No loop ending (WTF were they thinking?)
The only good change
