The thing that really bothered me about this movie is that EVERY missing persons case is one of these "savage" animals. You're telling me EVERY case in this massive city is in this one fucking room? I like the movie, but whenever I've watched it I immediately get taken out of the movie for a second at that scene where she says "they're all right here!"

Hating/fearing one group of people for skin color is silly because scientific evidence has showcased that differences between each other beyond the aesthetic/visual is so minute that it can barely effect anything such as one group of people are more likely to get skin cancer but able to get more heat in cold environments and vice versa.
Meanwhile being worried about some people having knives for hands and mouths or in the case of X-Men, the power a dozen nuclear bombs, is fairly justified.

Large physically powerful non-preds have it the best in the Zootopia setting, they don't have the stigma of being 'meat-eaters' causing them to be demonized at large but are still capable of physically dominating the majority of other people they encounter.

The entire point of the predators and prey “switching roles” is to show kids in the audience that prejudice can manifest in many ways. They’re training them to look out for the signs in their own lives regardless of race. If you clung to the analogy that Predators = White and Prey = Minority and never let it go, of course the movie isn’t going to work.

Not a Holocaust denier, but yes, I absolutely believe that racial disparities in violent crime are the result of genetic differences, and the movie's otherwise positive messaging is ruined by implying that anyone who even theorizes this might be the case is bad. I'm opposed to racial discrimination and I don't think the truth about race justifies reviving Jim Crow morally or logically.
On the bright side, the movie said that racism goes both ways and anyone can be a douchebag to others for trivial reasons like race. It also, as this user says, points out how politicians use identity politics to divide groups that would threaten their power. I just wish it didn't push that anti-free thought, anti-science bullshit too.

It's not like Judy had a scientific reason to think predators are more violent. There's not a single case in the film of a predator's nature (fangs, claws, etc.) being emphasized. The polar bear thugs are intimidating because of their sheer size and are all rather stoic. The rams are dangerous for the same reason, plus the horns. I think one of the predators to get drugged being an otter was deliberate so we have a scene with a predator smaller than Judy (whose smallness is emphasized often).

Everything about the Zootopia concept was complete shit. I greatly prefer stuff like Star Fox or Sly Cooper or Sonic. Different types of anthros exist in the world, but they never have those primal instincts and carnivore type conflict with herbivores. It's just too much of a convoluted problem which all leads to the same bottom line, multiple species cannot get along because in nature and real life they simply do NOT get along.

The original is more gutpunches and clunky metaphors than substance.
It works fine as a short that enters and exits before you can really start picking apart the world and just focus on the message rather than overstay its welcome and you really get to pick apart how it doesn't make much sense.
