He won glory and because canonically the greatest mortal man to ever live, but died horribly and tragically full of rage and alone knowing he lost his three(+) loves. His memory is eternal, he was not.

His brother was forgotten by everyone. His name is unrecorded. He is truly immortal, never served anyone and had absolute freedom from god and king. He became a farmer, and is happy. According to the myth he’d still be there, and still be happy.

Technically Steven got most of his social education by spending most of his time with pretty much every person in town. He only knew one kid his own age and only at the age of thirteen onwards, but spent a fair amount of time with kids younger and older.

As far as actual education goes he doesn’t seem to be lacking anything fundamental. Just Gem information, he seems to be well-aware of Earth history and geography confirming he got better than the average American education.

I think if Lars had gotten Pink'd before their falling out over Steven surrendering, this might legitimately have happened. However, I think that incident caused Connie to realize that she doesn't quite belong in Steven's universe, and that's why she's so focused on school now.

It's a pity, because it could have been a REALLY heart wrenching scene. Obsessive Connie is so much better than Mature Reasonable Connie. But it is what it is.

I mean... in terms of real gemstones, not much unless we're talking about cosmic time scales. They're pretty damn solid. I see no reason that these gems would be any different. If you assume the gems are a berserk AI like they clearly are, at least White Diamond has got to be pushing the 6 digits.

That said, Gems can and do go crazy from repetitive stress. Hell, that could have been the title of the show. I suspect that the weird personality issues we see in all the gems just get worse and worse over time unless treated.

They don’t seem to need to take in any energy no matter what they do, which is odd.

Possibly their natural lifespan exceeds the timescale of the rest of the universe. They could possibly survive the stars going out, still having an empire after the entropic heat death.

Shattering doesn’t even seem to kill them as we know it. The Cluster is all the still-living fragments, meaning its more like if all your bones contained a fragment of your personality and were scattered.

My headcanon is that Gems will, given a long enough time period deform. Pearls are usually the earliest in the timeline for this due to their soft, organic-based nature.

Because writers tend to be pretty intelligent and able to explore concepts to their logical conclusions. Depending on the way it is achieved, immortality is vastly more likely than not to be a devastating curse, rather than a blessing.
