The season could be handled better, many times it felt as if they were wasting time, it is easily the weakest of the 3.
Even so, it was a good show, I'm glad I saw it.

Not at all, the conflict should have been purely between Rapunzel and Cassandra, I'm pretty salty that whole plot was so half assed so they could make room for the other half assed "Zhan-Tiri comes back!" plot.

Not completely murder Cass' character for starters? It would've been so easy to lead her story differently because proper foundation was already there from season 2.

She was weaken a lot before being banished by Demanitus. That's why she's so desperate of stealing the sun and moon's power

I talk a big sufferfag game but that legitimately hurts me. It’s remarkable that her “scene” in the epilogue wasn’t her diving off of a cliff or falling on a sword

It seems to me like they only knew how to make Cass suffer and had no idea what to do with her once she got what she wanted. So they just had her waffle around between being angry and smug and reckless without making a point of it. On top of that, the Gothel stuff just mired Cass' arc without actually adding anything to it. You can see in the first episode of the season and the finale that her desire to never be outshined again was all the motivation she ever needed. The Cass that showed up between those episodes felt like a shitty knockoff.

The finale actually left a good taste in my mouth, though, because Cass sort of felt like herself again.

Feel opposite of you. First two seasons I would give a solid 8/10, but the inclusion of the 3rd drops it to a 6.5-7/10.

Conclusions felt thematically appropriate, but I guess I do wish that the point of Zhantiri was better incorporated. She makes sense for a plot but I don't I wish she had a strong thematic reason to be invested in exploiting Cass's hurt

Overall though very great! Awesome show!

Even if 3 is an exercise in testing patience, my overall enjoyment of the show through the years, along with the ride with 4ching, makes it an easy 8/10 for me
I think the only more consistent hype I had was Primal and that was just a set of five episodes in rapid succession

I'd say 7/10 - the animation, music, and characters are enough to rate it high but the plotting/pacing does bring it down from being great. I might rate it higher or lower depending on following viewings.

Actually, Cassandra being in love with raps explains a lot. Like how she's always bickering to Eugene, or how she's not pressent at the wedding (obviously Cassandra didn't exist at the time of production for the short, but it's a fitting reason in-universe.

3/10. There were some amazing moments, but not following through with character arcs and the horrible third season wrecked it for me. One can't set up a multi-level house of stories and forget the roof. It gets all soggy.

Cassandra and Rapunzel are the only Disney characters that i really wanted together as a couple in a non-coomer way.
Cassandra has been depicted as someone who feels empty, lonely and underestimated.
Then we see Rapunzel, the only girl in Corona who always cheers her up and always is there for her, showing her affection.
The scenes were Rapunzel says so straight forward how much Cassandra means to her plus seeing Cassandra smiling back at her in response is just pure kino.

It's not about lesbians, Raps is just the only friend Cass has. She hates/loves her at the same time in S3, and is happy their conflict is finally resolved with the friendship intact, something Cass could never have done on her own (see the play confession in the penultimate episode). All too often, modern audiences mistake friendship for homosexuality because real, normal friendships are so rare.

The thing that annoys me most about yurifags is that they don’t seem to understand that people can be close friends without being gay for each other

For me it felt like it stalled out too much. Season 1 and 2 had momentum where it felt like things were happening and going forward with cool intrigue while season 3 just felt like we lingered too hard on Rapunzel sad Cass conflicted Zhan Tiri scheming on repeat for episode after episode. I didn't hate it mind you but it's definitely the weakest of the three.

Bait-and-switch followed by a lot of poor writing. Raps had been upstaging Cass since the start of the show. She used her magical princess powers to beat Cass in every aspect of her life. Cass resigns herself to never getting anywhere in life (waiting in the wings) and then finds a way out and takes it. Then, instead of putting distance between her and Raps, finding a cool guard position somewhere, and achieving all her goals from S1-2, she spends the entire fucking show sniping at Rapunzel for increasingly contrived reasons. They had all the parts set up for an amazing finale and somehow screwed nearly everything up.

Funny because I am a huge yurifag and Cassfag and will ship just about any crack couple but with Cassunzel I enjoyed the idea of Cass' feelings staying unrequited much more than the idea of them being together. It's never happened to me before. I've always hated love triangles and unrequited love in fiction, but this is somehow different.

Did the ending or the moonstone heal Cass' arm? She'll have trouble on her questing path if her martial skills are gone.

The idea of the character with a crush never having the chance to propose or to end up with the character he/she love is something most people seem to enjoy apparently.
I mean, the trope about ''girl says somethings to the boy but he's too dumb to get it'' or the character that has a crush on the mc has been done several times. People like to see the character struggle about affection because deep inside they wish for someone to be that deep and caring with them.

Zhan Tiri was an alright idea as a final boss. A threat that heroes and human villains would have to unite to fight.

I always thought there was going to be an A and B conflict with Rapunzel and Eugene as main leads.

The Baron was giving vibes he would be one of the biggest human threats. I was dissapointed how his character got handled. Him taking over Corona with Caine, the Stabbingtons and the other prison thugs as well as Varian was more interesting than the Saporian hipsters.

Cass has a wealth of exploitable shots for lewd material. Mostly because when she sits, for some reason she can't keep her legs closed.

Did they ever explain why Rapunzel lost the healing power in the series pilot? She never lost the Sundrop (until the Season 3 finale, that is), so what gives?

With Zhan Tiri they should've just pulled an Ozai. Minimal screentime, looming threat, only fully in the spotlight during the series finale. A straightforward final boss whose influence made other antagonists interesting, like how Ozai made Zuko & Azula interesting. They could've turned Varian into a disciple. Sell his soul in order to save his father. Something like that.

I guess the healing power was concealed once the hair was cut. The first touch of black rocks may acquire part of moonstone's power (decay incantation, protective hair shield) but it's not enough to awake the healing power until the sun drop finally reunites with the moonstone completely.

As for your question, I just love angst. People in general are crazy for angst. But it needs to be well done. Otherwise it's soap opera.

Cass' situation is mostly well-done angst. There's inevitability, there's conflict, there's irony which I think is crucial for good angst, there's hubris. All that fancy terminology. What I think is also important is that a lot of the bad stuff has to be caused by character's own choices, to some extent.

This as well. I just really liked what they were building up with her being some kind of Nyarlathotep entinty who drove Demanitus' aprentinces into following him instead. Gothel being a former apprentice was a cool twist as well. It made perfect sense. How she was alive before the New Corona kingdom and all.

The first two seasons were really going into that but barely on S3 except in the finale. The focus switching to "guess it's all back to normal" SoL and Cassandra's personality disorder was a detriment to this season.

S3 makes me wonder how the preproduction of this series was like. It almost feels like they were not even the same writers as the other 2.

Mystery definitely plays a huge role in it (girls are a mystery for me lol). While I watched a lot of anime I wasn't into yuri until Frozen. I think it draw me in because it was incest. I always liked incest ships because I mistake it for familial love I never had. After I went through thousands of Frozen fanarts I realized how much I like this "pure" kind of love because both participants are animated women. And boy I do like to put them onto a pedestal. The forbidden love part is very important too. I think if these couples would go official it wouldn't be half as fun.

I love Cassandra, Catra etc because they are damaged and fuck up everything (like me) but there is someone in their life who could fix their problems with love. Still they will never get a happy ending because reasons and this tickles my suffering bone. I mean these fantasies are great but I would never believe someone could love me.

I'm guessing a few months tops before they drop it. I think all the previous seasons' OSTs released a little bit after the season ended.
Season three didn't have as many bangers as previous seasons had, but it still had a pretty decent soundtrack. Seasons one and two are pretty close, Varian's tracks are ofc GOAT as all fuck, but Cass comes pretty close with Waiting in the Wings. Plus season two also had The View from Up Here and Everything I Ever Thought I Knew.

I still wished the 2nd wedding ring should've been made of the shattered moonstone.

the fact that the background music for the proposal isn't some kind of reprise of "Now I see the Light" makes me sad. I'm honestly curious if the TV division has issues with using movie materials for these things.

It was however really nice in the intro when Raps and Arianna were riding and the background music was a symphonic version of Wind in my hair. Plus later when Varian's dad told him he was proud of him, and the music was Let me make you proud. Small things, but great.

The showrunners evidently love her. We can only hope that someone with enough clout feels the same and can force the mouse to indulge them with a Cassandra spinoff. I mean that's the only way tts got made in the first place.

desu I think her peak was in the premiere, when she was both conflicted and in pain, but also triumphant and free. They got that across beautifully in Crossing the Line. I was so excited for her character arc then, before the rest of S3 took away her agency and flanderised her. So while Nothing Left to Lose is a good song in its own right, I think her best moment will always be the premiere, before her arc went off the rails.

Yeah the lack of an at last I see the light reprise was galling, but the wind in my hair version was a nice touch, even though I'm not sure if the character present in that scene really should have been her mother.

Season 2 will always be peak tangled. S3 was garbage expect for the premiere and the finale, but at least they recovered things somewhat there. I also think the lack of a Cass/Raps duet was galling, given that she's the real focus of the ep.

Protagonist v.s. Antagonist finale level duet, that's something that is going to trigger the no-no alarm in the managers heads for a tv series.

They really went all out in making Cass smoking hot in every single shot. Even when she was crying and feeling sorry for herself, Cassandra was top tier boner inducing. I'm really going to miss this character.

Honestly, changing ZT's sex in the middle of the story did not enhance it in the slightest.

Season 1 was the weakest, most of it was dull slice of life stories. The adventure tone and going to different places starting with S2 is what made the show great.

Rate the finale Yea Forums. For me it was originally an 8 but since dropped down to a low 7. Too much fluff in there like the monkey antics and other world bit. Should've focused more on Raps and Cass and also more Demanitus/Zhan Tiri flashbacks (possibly with Gothel).

It had a few cool moments when experienced in a vacuum but as a whole it was just very mediocre. A lot of things suffered. The story, characters, pacing etc... It was a culmination of a very weak season and instead of ending it on a high note it was just more of the same.

The complete lack of support/promotion kind of suggest they'd have no qualms doing just that. This was most likely made to flesh out Raps so they have her to fall back on, when Elsa/Anna eventually stops printing money.

The most realistic option for continuation would probably be either SoL shorts or keeping the comics going. There's been ~4 minis so far.
No idea how well 2010 did, but if it did decently, T2 might have a chance. Eventually. Wouldn't hold my breath though.

A live show would be a cheap viable option to produce, but it doesn't really fit with the established demographic. For the little girls that want a princess story they'd have to do either another animated series or movie and they're clearly doing neither.

A YA novel of Cassandra's Navelgazing Adventures may be something the production team might be able to pitch to success, since it would be pisscheap to produce and would certainly pay itself back due to the teen and older audience we've seen the show gather on social media. And I'd really enjoy it.

But basically, I don't think there's going to be any more Tangled content for a very long while at least. Anything we may get in the near future would be a small miracle and something very small scale as a passion project from some of the TTS people.

Honestly, the thing that seems most likely is a spinoff series. With Cass still needing to find her destiny at the end, I think the writers were clearly leaving the door wide open for it.

Season 3 was a little weaker but not by much. Imo easily the best songs were in this seasons and it had really good emotional beats, also I'd argue the best filler episodes.

The real way that it's weaker is in the plot episodes so depending how much you weigh those things you enjoyment of the seasons changes.

Tangled: The Series showed flashes of brilliance in the characterization, animation, and songs. The high points of the series felt very real and human.

The show stumbled with the constraints put on it by the intended audience and the intended airing schedule. The child-oriented loose, goofy slice of life episodes weren't interesting to me, and it felt like there were so many of them, but I'm a 29-year-old neckbeard.

The ending didn't feel comprehensive or appropriately scaled for what it was building up to. Again, I'd prefer it to be more serious, but I understand why it wasn't targeted to me. I really need to watch more good anime.

Overall, I'd still strongly recommend the series. The good parts are things that are unusual for cartoons series to do well, and if you have the patience to watch the whole thing, as a real cartoon fan, you're in for something special.

It isn't an unqualified recommendation, but nothing else recent comes close.

He was completely missing in Once a Handmaiden. Did the animators forget about him or did he suspect Cass was going to sneak in a rape or two using the cloak once she and Rapunzel were alone, and he didn't want to be around for it?
