It's jarring for me how Zoomers on Twitter are now saying "SpongeBob season 4 is good, actually" and saying it's "Better than season 1" or that "Season 1 sucks".
I remember that when season 4 premiered, the episodes felt rather corny, lame, stale, cliche, and Nick Jr-esque, compared to 1-3 which felt more deadpan/sitcommy in their humor. Granted, there were a few good ones like Krusty Towers, but the rest was very meh.
Zoomers in genearl deserve to die, we really should gas all people born after 95.

Seasons 4 and 5 legit aren't bad. They are actually pretty funny. Season 6 is mediocre and season 7 onward is terrible with gems here and there.
Season 3 was where the show started showing signs of it getting bad.

Still a LOT better than the shit that came afterward, even the newer seasons that people claim are good
Season 4 wasn't the worst but it was definitely better than the following ones afterwards. 1-3 are still the best in my opinion

More specifically the latter half of season 3. During that time the show got more slow-witted and self-referential. I believe CH Greenblatt admitted they were running out of ideas at that point. It could be forgiven though, since they were focusing more of their energy on the movie at that time.

Season 4 apologists are fine in my book, it’s a halfway decent season. Thinking Season 1 is worse is unforgivable though.
