i swear it's almost a mandate that every other fucking batman adaptation HAS to be inspired by the dark knight returns in some shape or film. this is one of the major reasons why i'm excited for reeves' film, he's trying to draw from the franchise's entire mythos rather than one story that was admittedly groundbreaking for its' time but apart from that hasn't even aged that well
