When will this meme stop? Some of the greatest scenes in season 1 and season 2 was OC. The Tywin and Arya scenes in Harrenhall were great, the war stories scene with Bobby in season 1 aswell. No the problem was sloppines and appeasing braindead normies as the show grew in popularity. Season 1, 2 and 3 were extremely carefully made with a focus on a good plot and character interaction. Then came the Red Wedding and the show exploded in popularity. Season 4 was noticeably more sloppy and Season 5 was when everything went to shit.

This isn't even going into the fact that it's a poor strategic move to even engage outside the castle walls to begin with. Especially against a foe with an overwhelming numbers advantage, combined with the fact that every casualty you take, is likely to be converted to the other side.

If only there was somewhere nearby that could successfully funnel the enemy and essentially eliminate the numbers advantage. If only.

Preston definitely has a point though with Ned suddenly worrying about not keeping his promise to Lyanna only after he gets thrown the black cells and has failed to recall the assassin sent after Daenerys. If Jon were the secret baby that would make no sense because Jon's safety hasn't changed at all since he left for the wall, which Ned let him do.

The part of R+L=D that makes no sense is why Viserys would bother hiding it from Daenerys because Westeros runs on male primogeniture and she theoretically wouldn't be a threat to his ascension either way if she were his sister or his niece.
