What went wrong?
What went wrong?
oh yeah, I forgot I never finished watching this movie.
>What went wrong
>$250M gross
And M. Night spent $20M on this shit. Must have payed himself and the actors 19M and the rest for
actual production.
I bet he will just do super low budget movies for the rest of his days now.
A N_GG_R IN THE MIDDLE.
Not enough Anya.
>if people see that this man has above average strength it will change the world
The ending with the secret agent lady is 100% unbelievable.
She went through so much to get them to believe they aren't superheroes and just gives up when she finds out Glass uploaded the videos to a 'secret site'? Someone elite like her wouldn't trace the IP and kill the people living at the address?
M Night's lack of understanding about the internet is showing.
everything. the first and second are silly incoherent crap. I dont understand how people enjoy them
looks like a slut
>Unbreakable is silly incoherent crap
Idiot
Forgot that by “deconstruction of capeshit tropes,” you’re removing everything that your audience actually wants to see. An understandable misstep from a first year film student, but a genre specialist like Shyamalan should’ve known better. Even Unbreakable and Split had entertainment value, but Glass was just a miserable slog.
>What went wrong?
Nothing really. For shit from a shit director this was pretty shitty.
No idea, I enjoyed it. I don’t know if people were expecting it to be capeshit or something.
I thought it dragged a bit in the middle, seemed to be a lot of timewasting until Mr. Glass went into action but after that I was quite pleased with how it turned out. I don't really get the hate this movie got, but I didn't think it was as good as Unbreakable or Split. But still pretty fine overall.
Your lack of understanding about Mr Glass is showing.
>I don’t know if people were expecting it to be capeshit or something.
I've seen many people mad as fuck that they didn't get to/blow up the nakatomi towers
The part where things had to actually happen.
A movie that’s obsessed with comic books, but is so pretentious it’s ashamed to be associated with them? That’s a recipe for a mess, which Glass was.
That's how I feel about Yea Forums.
it os a fucking masterpiece
>everyone else' character had to be retarded so that Glass could look like a genius
>david had zero character development and existed purely as a set-piece for Kevin, he could have literally been replaced with some random guy with super-strength and no aspect of the plot would have been effected
>the character dynamics were forced and unrealistic. the """evidence""" brought to bare to cast doubt on the characters having super-powers was ridiculous and unbelievable, Casey's after-the-fact stockholm syndrome from Kevin felt unbelievable, Kevin's """redemption arc""" was unbelievable and they failed utterly to make me give a shit about the death of a psychotic mass murdering serial killer
There's also a lot of things that my suspension of disbelief just can't take seriously. The ending as an example is so dumb. Am I really supposed to believe that camera footage of dudes doing light super-human feats would change the world and provide conclusive evidence of super heroes existing? Do special effects not exist in their world? It would take 5 seconds to say "the footage is an elaborate hoax" to completely shut down its legitimacy.
All in all just a dumb film. Beautifully shot though and acted though.
>he could have literally been replaced with some random guy with super-strength and no aspect of the plot would have been effected
You mean except everything involving Joseph Dunn? Or the whole Eastrail 177 connection?
>Casey's after-the-fact stockholm syndrome from Kevin felt unbelievable, Kevin's """redemption arc""" was unbelievable and they failed utterly to make me give a shit about the death of a psychotic mass murdering serial killer
I don’t think you understood these two characters. Kevin is not a mass murdering serial killer. The Beast and the alters who worship him are. Casey didn’t have Stockholm syndrome because her bond wasn’t with the Beast, it was with Kevin, who never harmed her and in fact tried to help her (when he begged her to kill him and told her how to). They could understand and empathize with one another as victims of abuse who coped by withdrawing from the world.
That parking lot showdown was so poorly done it was funny. Bruce Willis is so fucking lazy lmao. Enjoy watching a stuntman in a raincoat shot from a mile away.
Took it in a stupid direction. Blame the writers. There was actually nothing on the tape that showed them to be superheroes. Her explanations for The Beast and his feats was totally plausible. That should should have been the twist. Spend more time outside developing the characters and then throw them in the asylum where the lady exposes them. Climax could have been set up the same way but have the Beast get his ass kicked by some trained officers and then have Bruce get sent to jail for his shenanigans. No secret society crap.
Say it with me, kids:
>A FUCKING PUDDLE.
>You mean except everything involving Joseph Dunn?
Joseph contributed even less to the plot then his dad did.
>I don’t think you understood these two characters. Kevin is not a mass murdering serial killer. The Beast and the alters who worship him are.
"no"
What do you think the plot was? They would have never ended up in the asylum if not for Kevin and Joseph.
>Nigger is smart
>everyone acts like it's a superpower
How did he get away with this
not enough plot twitsts
Nothing. It was Unbreakable all over again. After Split, the "masses", fed with retarded media spewing, got the idea that this was some sort of comic-book-cinematic-universe in the making and naturally had (literally) moronic expectations about the film. It's not only underrated but clearly a pleb/normie filter.
The only real issue in the film is the 10,000 years line, which is not only unrealistic within the established story, but also contradictory: If this organization was successful for so long, then we would have never got tales of legends and myths since they would have stopped the "superheroes" before they became recognizable enough to become icons. It would have been better if they went with no more than 700 years to line it with the start of renaissance.
Good points. It was a dumb movie
It would be a better superpower if they explained that he isn’t a genius, he just turns everyone around him into massive retards.
>Oh shit, isn’t that Mr. Glass? The man who single-handedly orchestrated some of the biggest tragedies in the city’s history? Fuck it, let’s leave him unsupervised and all of the doors around him super accessible.
>t. unironically dumb
Glass has an untouchable degree of intelligence. Lady was no match for him.
>Someone elite like her wouldn't trace the IP and kill the people living at the address?
Glass is so smart he can intuitively learn assembly language. There's no programmer or such that can stop him.
>is a slut
ftfy
The ending was too much. He should have pulled it back a bit and made it less sentimental. Other than that it's a good meta narrative.
>budget: 20 million usd
>gross: 250 million usd
Glass was stupid because Unbreakable can already stand on it's own. But it made money therefore it went right
>After Split, the "masses", fed with retarded media spewing, got the idea that this was some sort of comic-book-cinematic-universe in the making and naturally had (literally) moronic expectations about the film. It's not only underrated but clearly a pleb/normie filter.
Agreed. It was fucking retarded how people that had never watched Unbreakable or disliked it when it came out got all excited for some epic yet “grounded” showdown. I half suspect Shymalan dragged the middle act of the film so long in the hospital as a fuck you to these idiots
>Beautifully shot though and acted though.
atleast people agree on that, I don't understand why the ending got as much shit as it did though
50% morons upset it didn’t have their capeshit showdown, 50% legitimate complaints over the secret society coming out of left field or David drowning in a puddle
M Night Movies are and always have been very allegorical, you're not meant to overthink plot details
He made an entire movie (lady in the water) in order to hammer that point home and make fun of critics who would overthink plot points instead of focusing on the themeing going on in the movie and people still didn't get it
(that's not me praising lady in the water either. Just saying that somehow audiences managed to be stupider than that movie.)
Signs was about defeating space aliens with fucking water, if after that movie you still thought M Night was for you and your issue is that he didn't dissect every single ramification of why uploading a video would work the way it does in his movie like Nolan would it's your fault for sticking with him honestly
