Will we ever get a proper 40k movie that strikes lightning in a bottle like what happened to the LOTR trilogy?
40k Movie
No.
/bread
>Fall of Cadia
Who would you get to play Mommy Celestine Yea Forums?
why is it in black and white?
It slowly gains color. It started as something that looks like pencil sketch animation and by the end it’s cgi
I'm an insider, fuck you faggots. We are working on a script for Warhammer Fantasy. Todbringer and Mannfred VC have to team up to repel a Skaven invasion in Stirland. 2023 slated production. Italian writer and producer attached, the guy who wrote The Best Offer. Secretly a huge fan of WF. Fuck you.
It will never get a movie. If it had a movie, it would suck.
getting people to accept the giant robot suits and giant people would probably be a leap if introduced in one movie. it might be easier to have people the same size as real world humans wearing robot suits for some movie or movies and then later get giant people in giant suits.
some people were willing to see mad max: fury road so some people might be willing to see a 40k movie with some similar aesthetics in theaters, but it might not be a lot of people for a big budget movie similar to how many people saw fury road.
/thread
W40k movie would only work if it was X rated.
(Eldar Guardians carrying Magos Pavel greet Inquisitor Wilson and several Deathwatch Marines)
Inquisitor: Magos Pavel, I'm Ordo Xenos.
(Shakes hands with Magos Pavel)
Farseer: He wasn't alone.
(Motions to three hooded prisoners he has brought alone)
Inquisitor: Uhh.. you don't get to bring friends.
Magos Pavel: They're not my friends.
Farseer: Don't worry, no charge for them.
Inquisitor Wilson: And why would I want them?
Farseer: They were trying to grab your prize. They work for the Warboss. The Masked Ork.
Inquisitor: Bane?
(The Eldar nods)
Inquisitor: Get them on board, I'll call it in.
>Fantasy and not 40K
Inquisitor: The flight plan I just filed with the Officio Inquisitorus lists me, my men, Magos Pavel here, but only one of you!
(The Inquisitor opens the ramp)
Inquisitor: First one to talk gets to stay on my Thunderhawk!
(Deathwatch Marines drag an ork to the ramp)
Inquisitor: WHO PAID YOU TO GRAB MAGOS PAVEL?
(The ork offers no response. The Inquisitor shoots his bolter away from the ork's head)
Inquisitor: HE DIDN'T FLY SO GOOD. WHO WANTS TO TRY NEXT?
(Grabs another ork)
TELL ME ABOUT BANE! WHY DOES HE WEAR THE MASK?
(The second ork says nothing)
Inquisitor: LOT OF LOYALTY FOR A GREENSKIN SCUM!
Third ork: Or perhaps 'e's wonder'n why ya would shoot a git before drow'n 'em outta plane.
Inquisitor: At least you can talk! Who are you?
Third ork: It doesn't matta 'oo we are. Wot mattaz iz our plan.
(The Inquisitor removes the hood of the third ork.)
Bane: No wun kared 'oo i was until i put on'da mask.
Inquisitor: If I pull that off, will you die?
Bane: It would be 'tremely painful.
Inquisitor: You're a big xeno.
Witch King: Fer ya.
Inquisitor: Was getting caught part of your plan?
Bane: Of course! Magos Pavel ditch our offa 'n favor uv yours. We had ta find out wot 'e told ya.
Magos Pavel: Nothing! I said nothing!
(The Thunderhawk encounters turbulence. Above, an Ork Landa comes into view)
Inquisitor: Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Deathwatch: Lord Inquisitor?
Inquisitor: What's the next step in your master plan?
Bane: Krash'n dis plane... WIT' NO SURVIVAS!
Why limit it to movies? And only three at that?
Maybe a if they make a doc about weird people who paint very expensive pieces of plastic and meet in the back of a grungy comic book shop to play with their plastic.
Only if its a borderline horror movie. I feel like its easy to fail and make it goofy, but if it was well done with great atmosphere and sets it would be the most kino sci-fi movie ever made
>We are working on a script for Warhammer Fantasy
Wow! It's fucking nothing!
and space marines should only have a minor role in the movie
Why would you even want to risk it given the current state of cinema? You just know it will be some faggy, feminist, onions bullshit.
Wouldn't it be precisely a time like this to try and seize control of a new market? Endgame is the ultimate culmination and finale of a decade's worth of movie setup, and cape fatigue is starting to or at the very least soon to set in as it goes the way of Westerns and people want something new. If anything, I suspect sci-fi and space stuff and/or cyberpunk in particular is going to be the new trend to latch onto,
New decade, new generation, new trends and all that.
That's so optimistic it's pathetic. Does it feel like shit is getting better or worse?
Yeah, I know, but I'm renewing my optimism for the decade. If by 2022 things haven't gotten even marginally better, I'll probably write it off then.
it's funny because it's a settings where you can have tons of non-forced female combatants, but hollywood would still completely ruin it with identity politics
It doesn't have to have Space Marines in it at the beginning. In fact the best way to introduce 40k to mainstream audiences would be to just follow some ordinary guy who works in a factory. He gets drafted into the Planetary Defense Force amid growing civil unrest (or maybe was always a reservist and got called up) that turns into a full-blown rebellion. At first he's not sure what side he's on, because his life basically sucks and the rebels' demands seem reasonable by our standards. The fight slowly escalates throughout the movie (rebellion gains momentum, Imperial Guard are sent in, etc) until our guy and the last loyalist remnants are holed up against a screaming horde and praying for salvation. Bottled up in their stronghold, no one knows who's truly loyal, Warp shit starts happening and supernatural horror elements creep into the theme. Maybe the rescue at the end will include Space Marines along with the Guard reinforcements (and that's all we see of them, other than their statues throughout the movie). Or maybe the Imperium decides the factories are too Chaos-tainted to try and save, and just nuke the city from orbit because grimdark.
I think if Mars hype picks up due to Elon or NASA or whatever, it could be an ideal setting to consider.
>wanting to bring normies and their progressivist bullshit into 40k
Fuck no. The setting is already starting to struggle against the insufferable faggotry of ADB and other BL writers.
I envy your attitude but unfortunately it's delusion. Nothing scifi or fantasy with a big budget will escape liberal propaganda ever again. It's too lucrative. They are pandering to an audience that is completely indoctrinated in identity politics, and is notorious for frivolous, selfish, uncontrollable spending; women, blacks, basedboys. Just embrace the destruction. At least there is a sharp contrast between shit and everything else.
We do have one 40k kino
It looks like total trash with that dumb filter.
only on a 1 Billion budget
>Horus Heresy
Super Powered Daddy Issues: The Series
It's not that bad.
only when ADB writes it
>ADB
God I hate that faggot.
most of the fandom does
Didn't he write Helsreach?
That's back when he was good
So what changed? I literally don't keep up with any of the politics or what have of the fandom, I just like the lore and universe and shit.
Bruva alfabusa did it
His books became bloated with emotional bs and lately he's been proudly stating his progressivist intents such as boasting about how he intentionally inserts minority characters. He made no secret of the fact that he's a new-age liberal fag obsessed with minority representation and grrrl powah.
>lightning claw
>not dual lightning claws
>having a melee weapon with an assault cannon
who drew this garbage? if your dude with a lightning claw has a gun, it better be a plasma pistol only
oh fug. Well which is it glaringly obvious in his new stuff, or still low enough to be looked over? Which ones should I stay away from if the former is the case?
Not too terrible, GW, the community and other authors keep him in line
>actually play 40k
>spent thousands of dollars and hundreds hours assembling, painting, and playing games
>don't really do vidya anymore and most all tv and movies are shit, it's really the one hobby I have that I truly enjoy
>come on Yea Forums and listen to some retards that never even been on /tg/ demand a movie of it
the nicheness of the hobby is the only thing preserving what fragments of goodness are still in it, making a movie that brings normie attention (and ensuing politics and whatnot) would fucking 40k
I meet these people irl too, dipshits that barely know a godamn thing about 40k meming it up about teh emprar and shit
I'm not at all saying reeee normies get out, but rather lurk moar and get invested in the hobby before you try to change the dynamic of it
the eisenhorn trilogy are the only good stories to come out of wh40k
ive read every single 40k book that was published up until december 2018
Fuck that shit, I want a tv Series on the War of the Beast. I need to see my boy Vulkan smashing some orkz.
Honestly in terms of ADBs actual book content its mostly the insertion of teen angst type crap. You can see a lot of that in his Night Lords series.
I haven't read his newest stuff but he made quite clear posts on reddit regarding his progressivist views. According to him it was only company head intervention that prevented him for shoehorning in fucking women Custodes of all things.
All we can hope is that his bullshit continues to be slapped down.
Well that's good then. I personally have a fairly high tolerance threshold and I don't mind artist or author/writer politics as long as it's kept out of their work. I will have a problem if it's being pushed into their work at the cost of the universe/setting's canon. I hope GW manages to keep him on a tight leash. I know their very protective of their IP and mindful of things that might damage it.
never going to happen. you know on the .00001% chance we ever see space marines on tv or movies, it will be ultra marines, and MAYBE black templars if you get lucky
my beakie boys will never ever get the love they deserve
Maybe after the multiple threads per day about it they will finally do it
I understand your frustration as one of those casual's you describe. Unlike them, though, I value greatly the source material and don't want any changes to it that would damage or otherwise be dishonest to its tone and spirit, but rather, want to preserve it as much as possible in translation.
I really, really want to see it made to film or television, but never at the cost of its spirit.
you sound like an iron warrior player. how close am i?
It requires a massive budget so we'll never get an actual movie with decent actors.
>animated / short series
maybe
>no xenos
That sounds awful as a feature length movie whose goal is to introduce people to the setting.
The only good idea there is making the focus a guardsman.
>>animated / short series
>maybe
It's no longer a maybe. GW is producing a Blood Ravens series right now in house. They've got the guy who animated Helsreach (in the OP) heading it since he clearly understands and respects the source and spirit.
Only if it's about raging homo dark eldar bravely fucking the corpses of Astartes.
i know 'new' GW gets a lot of shit for things like primaris marines and lots of newer monopose models, but you have to admit, they are killing in the PR the last year or so, with the gw community site, having duncan do silly videos and what not
Every movie these days will be made with 150% female characters who need no man.
Kinda stupid to ask for something like this.
>weeb shit
No
>not wanting a sisters of battle movie with big titty mommy celestine leading
>as british as british gets, down to the messed up teeth and bad accents
>weeb
???
How about an introduction to the setting that actually highlights what makes the 40k universe interesting, i.e. the interactions between the Imperium, Chaos, and Xenos.
>how do we make this relevant to trump's america?
> a racist white space marine learns the value of diversity and to treat the black space marine in his squad as an equal
>also he blacks the female space marine in the squad
I know there are female characters, but what I'm saying is that they will fuck shit up.
gonna be honest, i just want an eisenhorn murder mystery movie. i dont care about space marines
It's funny because 40K literally has suitable female characters, many of them in powerful positions themselves, but in relevant ways and positions that make sense. What user is obviously saying is that if some greasy kike got his hand on the project, he'd force females and minorities and minority females in places they're not supposed to be, essentially supplanting original characters for new ones for no reason at all other than to do so for its own sake.
There's an in universe reason why females can't be Astartes, but Shlomo will put some in anyways.
>lets introduce 40k to mass audience
>look, there you have this totalitarian, theocratic empire ruled by the corpse of messiah, in his name thousands of worlds are enslaved, any sign of heresy and freethinking is purged by fire and iron wielded by literal ubermenschen
>oh, and they are the good guys btw
Idk, what could possibly go wrong?
ADB is great. Night Lords, Black Legion, First Heretic, and Betrayer are all kino
Stay mad
Horus did nothing wrong
The best books were written by him in the series
>They've got the guy who animated Helsreach (in the OP) heading it since he clearly understands and respects the source and spirit.
Ehhhh he went a bit hard with stronk guardswomyn crap, before pulling the hypocritical 'feel sadder about this because even a cute girl got killed' emotional crap.
Overall could've been worse but still.
there are no good guys, which is the problem because liberals need to insert themselves into this setting somehow
have we all seen the astartes clips
Based, fun books.
I'd watch a Betrayer movie.
Thats a big IF
normies would eat it up
Visually stunning. Lore accurate. Love that guy so far.
He’s still good /tg/ is just mad that he’s liberal on twitter
There’s like a female knight pilot in one book and they chimped out
Pfffff
>There’s like a female knight pilot in one book and they chimped out
Lmao dude have you seen the 8th ed knight code
He hasn’t really done that tho. Do you think a sister of silence character in a horus heresy book is really the end of the world?
It's going to suck and you know it.
COPE
> Good guys
>Those slaaneshis sure look cool they have 3 vaginas ad 2 penises and constantly do drugs
>The tau are basically Communists right? wow so woke!
>muh jooz
Jewish guy literally invented the setting
nobody wants to damage the tone/setting but once you realize that'll inherently happen if it gets popularized, you see you have to pull back
it's a massive universe with countless nuances and small variations, idk much about comic books but look at how those fairly simple stories have been changed because of the capeshit movies
once you really get into the setting, especially after you put money into it, you realize it really does need to stay away from pop culture and the mainstream to stay good.
as points out, the world at large isn't ready for 40k, the players certainly don't want anything like this
nope, no traitor armies unless you count my dark angels ;^)
It could be just like that and you would hate it
uhh games workshop blew up the fantasy planet before they started age of sigmar
The feels.
everyone would love Sisters and they can be psycho bitches like a feminist and nobody can complain
It wouldn't be an IG movie so who cares?
What a gay excuse, they could make something great and "fans" would still bitch.
"But my ork spores?"
"Threat, havent they heard of tyranids?"
"Where are the Tau?"
"OC CHAPTER DONNUT STEAL"
"Lasguns should be weaker!"
>good guys
do you know anything about 40k? there are no good guys, there are people trying to survive and people trying to destroy it all
40k would inspire fascism in young men...No way hollywood would let anyone do these types of movies
Galaxy is a huge place, zoomer
Just tell them that opposing the will of the emperor and being a heretic is the most incel thing imaginable and wimin will get it.
>dark angels
3 squads of hellblasters?
The haters have arrived.
you must be fun at parties
It's pure kino.
fa/tg/uys agreed some time ago that if even anyone make a 40k movie series the better start point would be first tyranids wars (the big blue smurfs vs "average" alien bugs without risk to be a M related mostly due slaanesh/nurgle forces)
Tau are kinda like Humans before they went through the Dark Ages, they are good mostly. Humanity before the Dark Ages was pretty good as well signed peace deals with Orks and other races and the galaxy was mostly peaceful. Humanity in the brief period were the emperor was personally leading them outta strife from Earth was also pretty good.
Around a million planets, not thousands.
> emperor
You mean empress?
Because you don't want to throw too much into the first movie. Intro to the Imperium, and Imperium vs Chaos can certainly be made interesting. Unless you're one of those people who thinks a sci-fi or fantasy property needs 10 different sapient species to be interesting.
>tfw no Pontius Glaw kino
>t. i dont know anything about 40k except memes i hear on 4channel
I like fantasy but it's ~2 years dead
If there was a comprehensive 30 part series with 2 hour episodes that faithfully depicted all the factions and their conflicts I would cease watching all other video entertainment.
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>turning another niche hobby mainstream
For christs's sake

PLEASE NO

>gets btfo by an old man
>gets his robot body btfo again by the same old man, but this time the old man is a cripple and using a walker
lol more like pontius flaw
>you must be fun at parties
The correct response to
>muh no good guys in 40k
Is LARPing as a member of the Inquisition or implying chaos does nothing wrong. Xenos, of course, can be wholly disregarded.
>there are no good guys, which is the problem because liberals need to insert themselves into this setting somehow
Yeah. Look at GOT. Feminists complained that they were not actively fighting female stereotypes and male power in the very setting.
They are not going to tolerate "we're not endorsing this situation just portraying it".
Just like it does on some from its fanbase
It has to be a hive city. With a lanky biker guy and his gang sort of hang around with mutants Lanky biker dude is from the bottom sectors, has a mutant friend. Imperial gaurd comes, heresy shit goes bad for most of the movie like Mel Gibsons apocolpyto just constant action and running. Tyranids sort of attack the hive city he gets away. Entire city is fucked, Imperial gaurd dying like vietnam. Biker gangs pick up blaster guns sort of due a last stand. Space marines arive, some how joins up with them. Nothing can be done to save the hive city. Final shot is the planet blowing up and a scene of the Space marine ship traveling to the next planet.
I'm going to go paint my bloodletters
here's your (You)
Except the fans
noice
I don't mean that retard
I mean a mainstream movie/tv show where tyrannical, theocratic fascism is the 'hero' would get an uproar, faggot fucks with no appreciation or understanding of what the setting is about would riot and force change on things either by mischaracterizing the universe in the show (thereby attracting people who wouldn't otherwise go into it) or by pushing itself into the mainstream as is only to be changed by larger powers
seriously I'm not saying don't get into 40k, it's seriously just the hobby equivalent of lurk moar
Literally, the star of GOT, Emilia Clarke, tried to argue "we're not promoting sexism, we're just describing a time that is different and a little backwards".
What happened? Feminist lectures and 100% male cucking and subordination to all female characters.
Hive worlds and the lifes of regular humans are the most boring part of the vast setting. You're thinking of how to make a Necromunda film, which could be fun.
40k is already dead
Oldmarines
>religious fanatic space monks/knights living in quasi monasteries
>use badly understood ancient tech that is passed down from generations and can not be replaced
>all kinds of weird mutations going on from corrupted geneseed that is failling over the millenia, all kinds of strange ritual and traditions depending on their homeworlds, some are going crazy, turning into cannibals, growing strange tumors etc
>barely even human anymore
Numarines
>le epic tacticool operators created by some guy in a lab that nobody noticed
>dude they are like marines but bigger and better and their thing is that they have no flaws
>their innovated technology is miles ahead and perfect
>everyone loves them
>will soon include women so GW can sell more to waifufags
Worst case scenario: normies think 40k is deep and intelectual.
Fans get mad at literal whos on Twitter that like and hate it, because
Primaris are the gayest shit
IG vs Orks would work. It would still be different from all the previous scifi war movies. Grimness of Guard life and the horror of massive talking green brutes who eat the soldiers and then joke around witht the bodies. Tyranids would be seen as another go at Starship Troopers 5.
cope
Retarded zoomer
I'm also an insider and you're completely full of shit.
You guys really think jews would let this go mainsream? If it does get a movie the space marines will be black and everyone will be race mixed because its the future.. Only Slaver Dark Elves will be white and they will be shown as evil.
show me the good guys then. are they the humans who will kill you if you have an oversized mole or wart? are they the elves that murder anyone who looks at them funny? maybe the other elves who raid cities and take back people to torture for 100 years because they live off agony? or maybe the orks whose entire kulture is to krump things and blow shit up? maybe the chaos lads whose only object is to kill shit and corrupt it? spooky robot skeletons who wake up and immediately start vaporizing anyone in a 3 light year radius?
So It will be a movie about that time the Salamanders invaded Comorrah?
Cool
After the Warcraft movie's failure, highly unlikely. 40K is 10x more over the top than Warcraft. So if general audiences couldn't stomach that, they won't like 40K.
Farsight enclaves
I heard the warcraft movie was the most watched movie in China and made the most money though.
>Lore accurate
okay bud I dont know what lore you been reading, but a dozen Lascannon shots would smoke them marines
40k is too big to flop
You showed them!
fuck
Have sex
Make a movie about the one good guy in 40k which is Lorgar
Multilaser, not a lascannon.
Or maybe because Warcraft just wasn't cool. Normies love cool shit. Warcraft wasn't that.
Yeah, but its the only one.
>lascannon
clearly twinlinked multilasers dude
AP6
Orks should never appear in a 40k product for mainstream audiences.
>Orcs? What is this LotR in space?
>Green orcs in space? What is this a Warhammer ripoff?
>lol why are those dumb mad max aliens actually a threat
>they keep trying to be grim and dark but the enemy is just fucking silly all the time
>this movie's adversaries are utterly one-dimensional cardboard cutout bad guys who are evil and violent for its own sake
there can be black space marines just make it lore appropriate and not #diversityisourstrength #openborders
americans ruin 40k
Copied from the last thread:
Sure it's possible, but no one would ever do it with a decent budget and production values. If they did, it'd be twisted into being unrecognizable.
>Warhammer: 40,000 AD is a light-hearted space-fantasy romp in which Guilliman (Jamie Foxx), Yvraine (Rebel Wilson), Farsight (Ken Watanabe) and Trazyn (voiced by Jack Black) travel the galaxy thwarting the mad ambitions of the villainous Abaddon the Despoiler (played by Jim Carrey in a hilarious send-up of The Riddler). They must also dodge the bigoted enforcers of the backwards, religious, xenophobic Imperium of Man, led by the bumbling Inquisitor Eisenhorn (Domnhall Gleeson channels his Star Wars character's infamous anger for this role as well). Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, or people who love topical humor full of pop-culture references with a surprisingly powerful and important message, should definitely check out this movie!
isnt that the primarch that fell to his knees trying to worship anything he could? what a pansy. now corvus corax, thats a primarch to get behind, he was the only primarch the emperor trusted with his secrets on how to make more mans, so you know he was a stand up guy
It was a twin-linked multilaser, not lascannon.
>rebel wilson as yvraine
i know someone thought this was funny, but it just makes me angry
Are you new to 40k? It coined the term grimdark for a reason. There are literally no good guys, and even the semi-good guys are space communists who want to subjugate every other race through mind control and sterilization. They're just not assholes about it like the other races.
I hated that series.
t.dorn
no, he's the primarch who tried to create happy utopias on the planets he conquered which the emperor hated cause he just wanted to subjugate everyone and didn't give a shit. he also wrote what is basically the current bible of the imperium.
Just showing a black inquisitor would be enough to trigger 40k boys
>There are literally no good guys
Well I'd say there are no good FACTIONS.
There can be good individuals. However the utter insignificance of their achievements on the galactic scale merely adds to the tone.
Look how lame 40k has become.
>sparkling clean space marines.
>"space marines are the good guys"
/pol/ incels ruin everything.
I would love to see such a bitchy fanbase triggered, yes.
40k is pretty mainstream, though. Feminists tried to invade it with their politics, like they did with Magic the Gathering, but failed horribly because 40k fanboys are a lot more edgier and actually fought back.
there was a black inquisitor in dawn of war and everyone loves that game
there are literally 2 space marines chapters that are only black people.
Too bad Nucrons are a thing.
No, nobody really cares because everyone in 40k is treated equally (shit) under Imperial rule. Besides, there have been black space marines (the black inquisitor from DoW 1 or the black Librarian from DoW 2) in the game and nobody cared. Stop baiting you anti/pol/ faggot. I'm getting real fucking tired of your shit.
What are you talking about? There are already corrupted and trailor Primaris chapters. And then there's Gabriel Seth. And Guilliman finally reads Lectitio Divinitatus so they are prepping the religious war to come inside the Imperium.
holy fuck that made mad. i loved how necrons were robot slaves with souls to star gods. nucrons are fucking shit, i would say as much shit as AoS
This again... Salamanders aren't "negroid" afro blacks. They're regular Space Marines that just have a gene mutation that turns their skin to an ashen complexion that's super heat resistant. Everyone saying otherwise either doesn't know shit about 40k fluff or just wants to force some diversity into the setting.
>traitor primaris chapters already
what chapter? or do you mean just a few guys from a chapter
And I think the religous war starts with the release of the new Sisters of Battle codex.
Let's not forget that aside from token mutated chapters like salamanders and raven guard, astartes can change their pigmentation at will making skin colour a total moot point.
>Nucrons
Not as bad as Numarines. The anime-fication of Warhammer has been going on for nearly a decade now, both WHFB and 40k. Literally the only good rework are the Dark Eldar. Everyone else got a weird case of flanderization (don't even get me started on Death Guard).
ok fine, then the celestial lions are afro marines, you cant dispute that
multilaser s6 vs tactical space marine t4
wounds on 3+
you actually meant lasgun
strength 3 vs toughness 4, wounds on 5+
Ultramarines was as good as we will get.
>youtube.com
I actually enjoyed Ultramarines.
>this retard enjoyed Ultramarines.
Wait, hear me out.
It had a good score, in which "Steel and Doom" is the most goddamn 40k sounding thing i can imagine.
youtube.com
It had a good voice cast of classically trained English actors, who gave great preformances.
>Terence Stamp
>John Hurt
>Sean Pertwee
It was also written by Dan Abnett, who despite writing faults you may come up with, is one of the better 40k writers, who seems to care about Warhammer.
While looking janky, I like the low budget feel, it makes it feel more genuine, less out for a massive profit only like a hollywood film would be. It has more of a "We did this because we love Warhammer," feeling and didn't have to deal with Studios inserting forced quips, or casting people to appeal to a demographic. It felt more like actual film making. If they had a larger budget it would have been better, but i prefer the Fan Film tier stuff like Ultramarines, because if they fuck things up it would be in film making not in some massive rape of the mood or themes we desire in a 40k film.
I know it's video games and it's Blood Ravens but Jonah Orion exists.
The orks are very funny remind me of shrek
Honestly, I think it would actually be funny as shit if somehow a mainstream production studio greenlit and paid marketing for a big Space Marine blockbuster with ads everywhere and shit, and had to go through the job of convincing people to root for what I assume would be called Nazis today.
Really though, I'm sad and dead on the inside that a real Space Marine movie can and will never happen. There was that Ultramarine movie with John Hurt in it that wasn't very good but it's probably the best it's ever going to get.
not in mein Dawn of War, it isn't
Show me a single piece of art or a miniature (official or custom made) that supports your claim. I'll wait.
Also
>Celestial Lions
lol
Some 40k boys dont even consider the blood ravens canon and sperged at the siggt of that Brown girl from 40k adventures
Blood Ravens are garbage and everything associated with them is garbage.
>movie about Feudal houses fucking each other over
>main protag Lord's wife dies; Lord marries the new hot teenage attendant of his late wife (she murdered her brehs)
>Lord goes out hunting with his bros

>Lord and bros gtfo and head to rival House

>Giant Grey Knight Termies show up and assfuck the daemons
>The Lord and his brehs are totally mindfucked at this point but are on their knees begging the SPESS MEHRENS for protection
>Lord and bros get the Emperor's Peace after a GK uses the warp to splatter them a la Dr. Manhattan killing Rorschach.
>Film follows GK fighting Daemons and eventually getting their shit pushed in and the Inquistion does the ol Exterminatus
1 hour one offs like this shit would work well in 10 episode seasons on HBO
Salamanders would indeed be kino
Only Salamanders from Vulkan's homeworld are ashen with red eyes
The weapon that Marine was shot with was most definitely a Multilaser. Grandpa Boomer up there was using the old AP system but if you really want to go by tabletop stats, a Multilaser is still shit against Space Marines because they get their full armor save (and that one got +1 from cover). A Twin Multilaser would take three game rounds of shooting to kill a single Space Marine in cover, and Space Marines are a lot less tough in tabletop than in books.
>salamanders
>not a beakie boi movie
that just means they get to cast a mutt, even better for hollywood
Ok you fags, how do I into 40k lore
I've played Space marine and Dawn of War 2, and have a lot of the older codexs from 7th Edition, but is there a specific novel(s) or website I should start with?
>40k adventures
I refuse to believe this isn't some elaborate out-of-industry joke.
>Grandpa Boomer up there was using the old AP system
reeeeeeee
Lexicanum.
Yeah, I'm sure it had everything to do with her being brown and nothing to do with the idea of watering down 40k for small children, or her character being a pacifist who loves to research alien artifacts in a universe where the former is retarded and the latter is insane.
Warhammer 40k Movie?
Dude do you want the sjw´s,the feminazis and the millenial oversensitive snowflakes twitter generation to get an heart attack?
1% of Warhammer 40k Lore and these People will explode. they would be offended as fuck.
if you're not into reading there's a youtube channel with plenty of lore
>white Planetary Governor gets carried around by black servitors
Absolutely based.
dilate
They made Star Wars gay
They made Game of Thrones gayer
They can make 40k gay
What a great contribution, unique thoughts that have not been stated already 50 times in the thread. Faggots only read OP before responding.
Lexicanum for your wiki, luetin09 on Youtube for narration lore.
burn heretic
Genestealer Cults would be too politically incorrect considering the refugee crisis and muslims.
>make 40k gay
>literally has a space marine chapter created and named after queer people and queer bars
>this chapter has a 'secret' brotherhood
40k is already pretty gay, bro
>40K
Yikes. These are the same people who think Lovecraft is somehow a profound writer
that's not gay, that's manly
don't forget the primarch who is a closet traitor being named after a closet homo
Black guy... Black Guy! WE GOT A BLACK GUY HERE!
See? Nobody cares.
all you know that if a 40k movie is made there HAS to be a Mantis Warrior in it.
Look at it like this
>Legion that mistakenly fought for chaos during the heresy
>Were spared death due to it being an honest mistake, because all they did was duty to defend the area surrounding the Maelstrom.
>Punished to a 100 year crusade and no longer be able to recruit to replace losses.
>Survive the suicide crusade and are granted the right to begin to recruit again to replace their losses.
Tragic backstory, badass fighting people who fought honorable but were deceived.
In addition
>The gene-seed of the Mantis Warriors has developed a flaw or mutation over the millennia as the Preomnor gene-seed implant does not function properly. As such, when a Mantis Warrior sets himself into a certain frame of mind, the Prenomor gland secretes a potent neuro-toxin that permanently changes the Astartes' physiology.
>This neuro-toxin alters the Space Marine's sense of space and time, increasing his neurological reaction rate to that only achieved in near-precognitive states by most psykers; it also increases his already superhuman strength to a great extent. To a mortal it would seem that the Astartes is simply stepping aside before anything happens. Unfortunately, this marvelous gift comes at a price: the physiological change is irreversible and the Astartes' sight becomes tunnelised to the point of no longer being able to notice anything in his field of view that is not a target or a foe.
This gives you super Badass Marine for normies, that also has an IN UNIVERSE reason for the bullshit SPEED UP SLOW DOWN slow motion effect action movies use.
>mfw Black Library writers contort themselves into knots trying to explain why the superhuman bioengineered space knight from a distant planet 30,000 years in the future is named Johnson
I am very into reading, is there a novel list I should start with?
idk star wars is braindead as a 90's toy commercial, lots of room for people to insert their retarded ideas, maybe warhammer would be different
I fucking love the Badab War books from ForgeWorld.
youtube.com
>release date dec 18
it might not suck, theirs a chance
Fuck no. Can you imagine trying to get funding from some studio executive who's never heard of it?
>So imagine Star Wars, but the Empire is even more evil and is a backwards xenophobic theocracy. But the Rebels and the Force are even more evil than that, like Satanic-level evil. It's grim and dark, there are no real good guys, just bad guys and worse guys.
>Audiences are gonna love it!
>IG is fighting against Tau
>evil Guardsmen are shown killing helpless Tau civilians
>brown female guardswoman protag joins up with Tau to defy the evil white male Imperium
>they send a fanatic Black Templar named Brother Drumpf with 100 marines to stop them
Fuck the studios, man. This should be an in house production. It should be GW overseeing the whole production and direction process, not just handing off their IP to some Steinberg in Hollywood for a modest fee.
>working on a script for Warhammer Fantasy
Why? There's already so much fantasy out there. From Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones.
Meanwhile, science fiction has been ruined by feminists. I grew up on Trek, but Jew Jew Abrams and STD ruined it. That's what got me into 40K.
if we have an underdog chapter in a movie id like to see the lamenters
It is for fucks sake GW has licensed a show it's being released end of the year
Mantis Warriors are actually great. Played a mantis warrior in Deathwatch and loved learning about them.
40k RPG's caused me to learn so much more about the games world than the Mins ever did.
But I had a good Game Master so that helps.
except hes literally from earth, you retard. all the primarchs were from earth
>Todbringer
>Mannlet
terminators look so cool. shame they cant make them good on tabletop, i have 2 full assault squads with lightning claws and thunderhammers and shields that just collect dust now
And on Earth he was named "Number 1"
it doesn't matter where they were from considering the emperor didn't name them but they just stuck with the names they were given when they were found so so caliban?? might t as well have been a planet where "lionel johnson" was a normal name
holy fuck i messed up bad. guess im the retard, i apologize lads
A 40k movie is impossible to put on screen
Either
>its faithful and well made, popular with fans, but bombs because doing it right would cost a billion dollars
Or, and more likely
>WE WUZ SALAMANDERS AN SHIEEEEETTTT
>Tfw they massacred my chapter
>Just a prank bro
Feels bad man.
imagine being a celestial lionsfag
>no eisenhorn murder mystery movie a la sherlock holmes/murder on the orient express
i want a murder mystery movie that is focused on detective work, that just happens to be in the far grim future
The Primarchs weren't named until they landed on whatever planets they landed on. And the point is our genetically engineered space knight weirdo from 30,000 years in the future has a laughably generic present-day name. It'd be like finding out the two lost primarchs were named Bob and Jeff. That humor doesn't work here because 40k is supposed to be grim and dark, and this Primarch powerful, brooding, and serious, but Lionel Johnson and the Dark Angels were named at a time when everything in 40k was (overtly) written for laughs.
>you retard
Nah, Marines Errant. Fuck Huron.
>everybody always talks about the 'nids, but nobody ever cares about or expresses interest in the Q'orl
Its 2019, space marines look dumb.
Imagine being a Celestial Lionsfag who somehow learned they are a chapter of darkies-only after deciding they liked every other aspect of the chapter.
I had a moment that reminded me of a Its Always Sunny gag.
"Is it racist if we don't eat the black guy?"
"Well shit! It is now, Charlie!"
but they are all tacticool and hip now
post body
I was a Celestial Lionsfag when they were still white. Whjy they picked the most assfucked chapter to retroactively make black, I don't know.
why couldnt gw just give us bigger marine models that still look like the old models. we didnt need new rules, just updated models is all. fuck primaris and fuck the labour party
>better 40k thread then /tg/ has had in weeks
whats going on?
/40ktv/ is always comfy.
>I know there are female characters
This is where things went really wrong for 40k imo.
there were literally female characters in rogue trader, you dumb dumb
I actually started playing a few months ago. I think the painting is more enjoyable than the game itself. How often do you guys have matches that get through 4 turns in 3-4 hours? Feels like gameplay is really slow.
yikes
nice dudes. as you get more familiar it should go faster, ie, dont have to constantly look to see what weapon rolls what etc, ive found for new people its mostly the constant looking up to see what they have to roll that slow the game down
I know. A terrible mistake.
