The "fuck tradition" scene was not so bad, in fact it was one of the few with real emotion in them in these past two episodes.
The issue is that the "break tradition" only works if there were traditions in the first place. Because the show made no efforts of keeping traditions, with multiple female "tough" girls around, the break in tradition is just a repetition of what we have been seeing so far in the show. It is just one more note in the music that has been playing since season 1.
The actual break in tradition that occurred, and that made the scene, was the laugh and cry of Brienne, which finally has been allowed to break with the tough girl persona and show her vulnerable and human side. Imagine such an expression from Daenerys, how much more human she would seem. Instead we are served again and again with the same block of wood carved into female characters.
