There are people on this board right now, saying this movie was good. That is how far we have fallen.

TPM is legit the only good prequel
>good prequel
The prequels were shit boy
Having just rewatched it, its the purest Star Wars since the OT. Fuck off!
setting was good but lucas' storytelling is too formulaic to make a great movie
1 is irredeemable trash
2 is too but there's about 20 minutes ish of comfy obi wan scenes that you have to skip all of the movie to get to
3 is irredeemable trash
Fuck off, you manchild
>wahhhh these kids movies weren't the way I - a full grown man - wanted them to be
Hello fellow 4channelers I too hate the prequels! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOUR FACE?! haha
Besides Jar Jar's shenanigans, which is tolerable, the movie is pretty good. However, I am not an oldfag and saw TPM when I was 6 and still think it's my favorite theater experience of my life.
How old are you?
The kid could not act, he is now schizophrenic btw, pic related, Padma could not act, the directing was flat. Stop defending trash, it is no where close the the ordgrial , only soiboys disagree
Forgot Jake Lloyd /anakin adult pic
He's schizophrenic because of the fucking pathetic manbabies like yourself who hated and degraded a literal child because he was in a children's movie that you didn't like
Is this you?
OTfags are gay.
PTfags are gay.
But STfags are by far the gayest.
>ordgrial
How did your iPhone autocorrect fail you so badly? Fat fingers and getting nervously excitement?
Um no, he is still a Fan? I havent even seen 7 or 8 I gave up after 3
How old are you?
answer the fucking question OP you goddamn bitch
They are not. They are still better than this steaming pile of shit called The Last Jedi. At least the story was going somewhere.

define good
>good as in entertaining
people that doesn't get entertained by TPM and the memes that has risen from it doesn't belong on Yea Forums
>good as in a well made movie
it's a hollywood moneygrabbing sequelprequel, who watches this thinking they'll get Citizen Kane, Psycho or Pulp Fiction?
Why bother comparing a small shit on a plate to a huge dump on a plate? They are still both shit, and this is exactly what I am talking about
Star Wars 4,5,6 were as good as any of those films you listed, and transcended their genre
I respect George for going all in and making movies he wanted to make despite them being an absolute hot mess. They definitely were different than anything that had come out before. But they were not good movies by any right. For every good thing they brought to the table they also brought something equally shitty. For every Darth Maul there was a JAr-Jar. To be so blind to its glaring flaws and say these were anything other than pulpy cash grab kids movies is a blatant lie.
Still, I much prefer these than the soulless, agenda pushing, creatively devoid sequels Disney has been pumping out. At least the prequels tried to be something good.
This was the worst one. Literally anything other than the final lightsaber fight was garbage
You think it's just a Yea Forums problem but the Disney shit has boosted the opinion on the prequels in general
Agreed
>saw children's movie at 16 years old
>hated it because he was an edgy teenager and it was the cool thing to do
You're just like all the other cringelords. And clearly you haven't changed, since you're still posting about the prequels being bad 20 years later on fucking Yea Forums(nel).
Get a goddamn life and grow the fuck up.
Feel bad for that kid
>cant act for shit
>get thrown into the biggest franchise in history
>isnt directed worth shit
>years of mental abuse by rabid milk baby fan boys
>career instantly dead
Anyone wouldve suffered some mental breakdown
That is fake news, sad! He was endlessly bullied by classmates in school. Schizophrenia is also largely based in genetics. The actor who played Jar Jar was also ridiculed by the media for a racist stereotype.
This is textbook nostalgia. Jar Jars antics were that bad. The movie is not good. You were 6 and it appealed to 6 year olds
You don't know me you cringy faggot.
>children’s movie
And how old are you, mr Star Wars fan?
It can barely even be considered a narrative film. It's almost good as a bizarre experimental art project, but every single aspect of it breaks down on a logical level.
Oldfag here, TPM sucks but it's the best one. It's mostly fanfic anyway. The other two are abortions.
>oldfags only
I'm 43
I loved it when it released and I love it now
Now fuck off
If you remember these Disney Channel promos, you're an alright oldfag
it was awful on many levels but it was the last film that still felt like star wars
Prequels were absolute shit.
Sequels are probably worse, but that doesn't make the prequels good
Its not good, but still if i caught it on tv i would stick to watch the pod racing and the final fight; if i caught VII or VIII on tv i would just change the channel
Sure thing zoomer.
Youre right, I dont know you, and you dont know what a good movie is.
I guess nobody expected that much worse SW movies than the prequels can be released. Compared to the sins of TLJ, the flaws of the prequels don't seem that bad. You thought Jar Jar was bad? Here's Rose Tico teaching us about social justice in a hamfisted and very naive manner. It doesn't make the prequels good, but it made a lot of people reevaluate their opinion on them.
All you know is how to type like a faggot.
Your rebuttal is almost on par with the defenses you make for that shitty movie
30. I started watching the originals when I was 4 years old, fell in love with them, and when TPM came out I fucking loved it. Got some of the LEGO sets for my birthdays/christmas. Got the PC game and played it for hours and hours. Played the Gameboy podracing game. Then as the sequels came out they got a bit more mature and so did I, so it worked perfectly and I loved them too. In high school and college my friends and I watched them regularly and talked and joked about them all the time because they were such fun movies.
The point being that I was in the target age range for TPM. You weren't. The fact that you were too old for the movie isn't a fault of the movie. The prequels obviously aren't masterpieces and have plenty of technical problems, but if you judge them for what they were actually were, and not what you wanted them to be, they're fucking great.
Jar Jar was dumb and he was supposed to be dumb.
Rose was dumb, but she was supposed to be inspiring
>You were 6 and it appealed to 6 year olds
Yeah, so why is a fucking 40 year old bitching about it. Unironically "it wasn't made for you" - Brie Larson
No, they weren't as well made as those films. The original Star Wars had puppets, cheeky ad-libbed oneliners, lots of stunts/technical goofs (luke's kick in the desert) and George Lucas made up the story as they were filming it making it less cohesive than it would otherwise be. They're filled with plot holes, weirdness, unrealistic scenarios and such. That's what is great about both the original triology and the prequel trioology. They were made with love. They weren't well made films though,
>only younglings like the prequels
Nope
Intelligent people like the prequels, regardless of age.
People who struggle to articulate their feelings and tend to rely on vague criticisms or others telling them what to think usually don't like them.
It's not a generational thing, it's a pleb filter thing.
This 100%
All of the people who hate the prequels do so because they take/took Star Wars seriously. If you have ever taken Star Wars serisously, you're a retard. It's probably the funnest movie series ever created, and certainly one of the most creative, but part of the fun is how goofy and weird and "bad" parts of them are.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Sneed's Feed & Seed (Formerly Chuck's) is the empires new base.
>debates I dont know him so I have no right to judge his shitty tastes
>assumes I'm anywhere near 40 years old
I saw the movie as a kid too, and guess what, I liked it...as a kid. Then, I grew up and watched it again and realized it was a badly thrown together movie with no real compelling or interesting characters or plot. Just because you want to be some edgy faggot who thinks we all need to lower our expectations to that of 6 year old chld to enjoy a movie doesnt mean you have any real debatable opinions on a movie discussion. That and you talk like you never grew up either.
what the fuck are all these old fucks doing on 4channel
You can take it seriously and appreciate how goofy it is at the same time. Only brainlets tune out when their small minds struggle to identify what's in front of them because it refuses to consistently define itself as one thing and one thing only.
I'm 34. Watched when i was 13 and thought it was cool but jarjar was lame. People older than me hated it because they were already too old for it. People younger than me hated it because people older than me flooded the internet with their opinion. If you weren't the target demographic for the movie when it came out your opinion is trash
Would the trilogy have been better if Liam didn't die in the first one?
t. young person
no one ever leaves
No one's ever really gone
YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS FORGOT ABOUT Sneed's Feed & Seed (Formerly Chuck's.) WHAT THE FUCK? SERIOUSLY THAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT SCENE OF STAR WARS ARE YOU GUYS ARE BITCHING ABOUT TPM!!11!1!!!
>I liked the kids movie when I was a kid
>then when I watched the kids movie as an adult I didn't like it anymore
ya don't say
I was there opening night. I enjoyed it then and i still do now.
shut up newfag
>OMG Jarjar is so stupid and childish and there is too much greenscreen and bad CGI
>OMG GROOOT I LOVE GUARDIANS 2
fun fact: SNEED HATES NIGGERS
Nah of course not. He was a great character but his death was important to the plot and OT foreshadowing. He had doomed mentor written all over him.
Mule Jar Jar would have been peak cinema.
It's youngfags who should be on reddit or better yet out enjoying their youth.
>watching it at the kinoplex with my dad and my sister
loved it then, love it now, used to watch it with my dad at least once a year. Easily the best SW movie.
This guy gets it. Once you get out of school you become a wagecuck who's only free time is on the weeknights and there's nothing to do except shitpost on Yea Forums(nel). Plus you rarely see your friends anymore so this is the most regular form of socialization I get. When I was young I was too busy actually fucking doing things to be wasting my life on some gay ass message board.
Most people don’t understand why they enjoy s film or what makes a good film. So they focus on the obvious parts and think it make sense. Earth Vader was a good villain, he killed people, people feared him, yet he took orders from others. His character was built up over the course of the movie. Darth Maul Did nothing to make us care about him or hate him, all he did was show up to die. CGI good or bad has nothing to do with creating great drama. Guardians 1 was good becuase of the drama, not because of the action scenes. You care about the fighter attack in New hope because the drama behind it, no matter how good or bad the effects on the Death Star was (it was actually mostly eh, if you showed that scene to a person who knew knowing it would look like a b sci if movie)
>Guardians 1 was good becuase of the drama
Zoomazoomzoom
Okay this is epic
The prequels were funny-bad, while the sequels are boring-bad. The prequels, in their best moments, at least give me some genuine laughs from watching a completely inept writer/director try and conjure his grand vision onto the screen, complete with awkward dialog, stilted acting and bizarre plots. Meanwhile, the sequels are just boring and tiresome, not even a decent source of memes.
rewatchability rankings:
1) prequels
2) OT
3) sequels
>newfags think these are just memes
lmao kid you'll be here when youre older than they are now.
I saw it 6 times in theaters when I was a senior in High School. Yeah, it was very good
>since the OT
It's just part of the big monoculture. you are not allowed to say anything negative. People consume media just to have a discussion with others, and since negative discussions are unpleasant and require them to actually pay attention to whatever garbage they are consuming they want to shut it out. That also explains why all of modern media is so intellectually bankrupt. Nobody wants to try anything new or different because people don't like that. They want rehashed stories with cheap jokes and distracting visuals in every movie, and the corporate boards know it.
Op here
>People consume media just to have a discussion with others,
>and since negative discussions are unpleasant and require them to actually pay attention to whatever garbage they are consuming they want to shut it out.
This was too much truth for me
It always sucked
RLM just gave closure to its corpse
why can't gen Xers let this go? I am so sick of having to hear their endless droning on about how baaaaad the prequels were and how amaaazing the original trilogy was. no-one cares.
There are people here saying transformers 1 was a good movie.
I have no idea who would take anything said here seriously.
It is a good movie
People are saying it's 'better then Nu-Wars', false flagging zoomer.
Based
TPM is legit good. Take the stick out of your ass and stop taking Star Wars so goddamn seriously, faggot.
I enjoyed it back then when I was nine. Probably the same reason why 4channel likes it now.
I watched the prequels as a kid and, while I liked the ships, sets, action scenes, and most main characters, I really disliked how the villains came out of nowhere and I was supposed to know or care about them. It's a major flaw that they rely on people watching some bad animation to know important things about the story.
>what is an oldfag
kys retard
>There are people on this board right now, saying this movie was good. That is how far we have fallen.
Disney has been so inept at even making a soft reboot, it's made the prequels look like master pieces. It's like comparing Vanilla Ice to mumble rap.
>You think it's just a Yea Forums problem but the Disney shit has boosted the opinion on the prequels in general
The only halfway decent movie they've made has been Rogue Squadron - and I don't care if I ever see it again.
Digits confirm
>mega brainlet
liking the prequels
>lesser brainlet
disliking the prequels
>King brainlet
realizing the prequels were actually an ad for LucasArts new CGI tech to massive companies like Fox and Disney and that's why George had to direct them himself because no other director wanted to have their hands tied to an unwieldy unreliable new technology
>Fedora
Thinking star wars as a whole is shit
>lesser enlightened
thinking some things from star wars is cool but overall disliking the franchise
>Enlightened Being
not caring about children's movies
The acting in star wars has never been good. The stories are normally very formula. TPM brought us a top 3 all time lightsaber fight and a decent back story to how the OT sets up.
That said, this shit was trash. Imagine a story that wasn't just trying to sell toys to kids
Rogue One is better than the prequels
>rogue one
>half way decent
holy fucking cringe
that was legit one of the worst movies I've seen in years
You're right that the acting has never been good and TPM ahs the best lightsaber fight. However I disagree that the stories in the OT are formulaic. They actually subvert many of the common tropes in movies of that kind
you forgot
>Challenger Enlightened
not caring about stur wars at all and not viewing any of that bullshit yet rating it 1/10 on every site possible and copypasting bad reviews you found elsewhere on dozens of accounts thereby astroturfing disnigger into oblivion
They were pretty lame BUT the new ones are worse.
but it has Duel of the Fates so you are wrong
You know if you slow down and watch carefully in most fight scenes in movies in general you'll be able to find the same sorts of things. This is because they're not really fighting, they're just actors pretending to fight.
Not to mention that we're talking about Jedi who have magic powers including being able to sense things before they happen.
Based
I don't give a fuck about the cgi physics of laser swords in a 2001 movie. That scene was fucking bad ass on every level
I'm pretty sure you could dissect any lightsaber fight like this
>b-b-b-b-but OTHER MOVIE
>UH IT WAS EXPLAINED IN THE BOOK
>t. every star wars fan ever
>Palpatine
>Maul
>Dooku
>Greivous
>Jango
>eventually Anakin
I think it had too many enemies. Make it Maul/Palpatine or Dooku/Palpatine for 3 movies and you probably had a better movie.
>tfw episode I is mostly fanfic
Dude do you even know what fanfic means?
>getting nervously excitement
For shame you tard
yes all the action scenes in star wars are shit. now you're getting it.
->inb4 I forgot this came out in like 99
Shit that I love
I'm not a huge fan of the prequels, but the best acting in a Star Wars move was Ewan's You were the Chosen One speech.
Redpilled and based taste
There's three redeeming parts of TPM. The setup of the rest of the story, the fight vs Maul and podracing memes.
>Jar Jar Binks
>A deep character
YOUSA RETARD
Le jar jar or cgi are brainlet arguments
Based
It depends on the movie. I watched City of Ember as an adult, and I still like it.
>oldfag
If you're talking about being a Star Wars oldfag, and you weren't even alive to have seen the OT in theaters, you aren't "old", kid. You are however, a fag.
Fuck you, I'm 44 and I liked it.
Seething Disney shill
Episode 3 is pure kino
Explain, in detail, what the fuck you are on about
Compared to the Last Jedi TPM was a masterpiece of epic proportions.
Compared to The Force Awakens TPM was damn good.
At least the prequels didn't literally destroy Star Wars.
>taxation of trade routes
Children love that shit. I was 25 when I saw it first and I didn't understand the plot lmao it's pure shit but the setting is lovely and 120% Star Wars.
Damn. I thought for a minute to try and dispute you but you might be right. Alex Guinness did some terrific acting in ANH and RotJ, and hammil in ESB. But ewan had an amazing scene there
>At least the prequels didn't literally destroy Star Wars.
>midichloreans
>yoda's lightsaber battle
>are you an angel?
>roger, roger
>
I remember the theater going crazy when Yoda force grabbed his lightsaber. It had to be the loudest cheer I've heard in a theater.
Yes its good. TPM is probably my fav SW movie, got nice memories of it and the Jedi Knight game, these two introduced me to SW.
>comparing that to what Disney has done
How much is the mouse paying you?
TFA was soulless and average, making it leagues better than TPM. You're right about TLJ however.
>yodas lightsaber battle
was still miles better than rey and kylo's
Rogue One is actually the last film that felt like Star Wars
