He actually killed several people in that battle, and in the season 1 battle that was cut by having the PoV (Tyrion) get knocked out immediately, Tyrion performed very differently in the book. He had a helmet with a giant spike on it and I think he used it to gut the horse of a knight that was fighting him. The knight broke his leg and yielded to him, so Tyrion captured ransomable knight in battle.
