I don't recall there being any. You've never watched this show, have you?
cope harder tourists. the original futurama series was the literal epitome of a reddit cartoon. stupid little gimmicks thrown into the background of every scene that are the equivalent of calling water "H2O" when you order some at a restaurant, and of course simplistic "clever" quips in every dialogue sequence unironically designed by the creators to be quoted by faggot nerds like yourselves later. this later transitioned to the internet upboat seeking shit you see everywhere now where they post 'GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!' and 15 replies are posted all circlejerking each other into oblivion because they, too, recognize that epic reference. if you can't understand this i would implore you to go back to whence you came
... you think the live action TV show in the OP is Futurama, the cartoon?

Hey fella you wanna join my gym?
I can't believe it but I watched the Netflix version and it's pretty good. The host looking like the epitome of onions turned me off but it's actually funny. The rumor is it's cancelled unfortunately.
If they just revive it with Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy it’ll be great. I’m not sure how willing any of those guys would be to return to the series, but I’m pretty they’re all involved in similar things IIRC (rifftrax, cinematic titanic, whatever else)
Well it will be now
I just looked it up, and all three of those guys are doing rifftrax. They really need return to this show, you know they want to
Are you gonna come back and defend yourself, or did you piss off after realizing you’re a blithering idiot?
wounded animal that large isn't good!
steve?
I don't think they're interested, RiffTrax is a good moneymaker for them and doesn't take up as much of their time and effort as MST3k did, Joel only revived the show because none of his projects were successful and he didn't contact any of the other former team to check if they wanted to do more. There was a fair amount of bad blood between them too because of what happened with The Film Crew. Things have improved a bit though, they were given rights to sell Mike era digital episodes of MST3k on their store, and they did a couple of reuinion shows since.
I'm sure he closed the thread, his face flush with the shame of realizing he's a total fucking moron.
oh shit nigga what are you doing
What happened with The Film Crew? I know there was a bit of animosity there, but I’ve never been clear on what happened and who was involved
>mike
Werewolf is KINO.
being a chad doesn't make up for his complete lack of humour and chemistry with the bots
Jim Mallon told Rhino Entertainment that if they didn't cancel The Film Crew then he'd pull their licensing rights to MST3k, so it was cancelled. That's why Mike produced and distributed RiffTrax out of his own pocket, and video streaming wasn't a thing at the time so it had to be audio only commentaries.
The Elder God Quintet
>Manos
>Final Sacrifice
>Space Mutiny
>Mitchell
>Future War
>complete lack of humour
MST3k was literally garbage before Mike came on as a writer
>chemistry with the bots
Mike's brotherly relationship with them was far superior to the creepy father act Joel tried and fail to pull
Jim Mallon made them shut it down somehow. Maybe someone else can elaborate.
I don’t think the riffing in Manos is that good. It’s not a bad episode, but the jokes are pretty substandard. I think that episode received notoriety only because of how exceptionally and remarkably bad the movie itself is, even amongst its fellow MST3K victims. I would say thought that the MST3K episode of Manos is the only way that it’s bearable to watch.

All Matt Smith episodes.
The rest are trash.

>mfw watching joe bob briggs interview barbara crampton and she mentions how she went to castleton
>You've never watched this show, have you?
Clearly not, otherwise he would have instead pointed out how much outdated topical humor there is.
This. The new guys that do Crow and Tom don't even operate the puppets.
>outdated topical humor
Not for a boomer.
Mirror Clayton slipped into his Crow voice a few times during Last of the Wild Horses.
The references in MST3k were 10-30 years outdated even when it was first broadcast. The right people will get it.
what's this one?
There are so many name drops throughout the whole series that people born after 1985 would never even have heard of
>The right people will get it
I know, but if someone were to have a legitimate gripe with the show it's because there's a lot of references they don't understand. Young'ns just won't get it.
This. Fuck Joel. Pure hack. Saved by Mike, Kevin and Trace.

I think Mike's wearing socks with his sandals.
Im from fucking Indonesia, a literal 3rd world shithole and I know damn well this is not futurama.
You best be pretending, and if so good job
Oh am i? or was this all part of my master plan?
Nothing wrong with “magic” but there’s a lot wrong with magicians. And if you have to even ask that question, you’re already a pathetic loser
>"How'd I do that? You don't know? Fuck you, gimme a dollar"
It's a living.
>The production staff and cast was extremely disapproving of what appeared to be genuine WWII bombing footage being incorporated into what was essentially a sci-fi film, an attitude that was given free rein in the more-merciless-than-usual riffing.Kevin Murphyspecifically cited this as one of the worst movies ever shown on the series, calling the film's director "reprehensible" for using actual WWII footage in what was basically a children's film.
What movie? Invasion USA?
...
>otherwise he would have instead pointed out how much outdated topical humor there is.
I suppose when you don't get a reference, it might as well be "topical humor". As it happens, though, the show intentionally avoided "topical" jokes (although some did slip in here or there). MST3K riffing was overwhelmingly basic American cultural knowledge any reasonably intelligent person would know in the 80's and 90's spiced with routine obscure references here or there. Very little of it was ripped-from-the-headlines. If you were raised with the internet, though, you have no shared cultural canon. It no longer exists so a lot of the references will only be "obscure" or "topical" to you.
Yep. Manos is a meme. It's famous for being one of the most perfectly bad movies ever made and so people assume the MST3K version must naturally be one of the best MST3K episodes, but of course that isn't true. Would be great if it were and the MST3K version isn't a bad episode, but it is hardly one of the best and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to noobs, which happens a lot. Space Mutiny deserves that honor.
i was watching an old one where they make a joke about global warming being thought of as a conspiracy by backwards retards. that's pretty goddamned relevant imo
>yfw they were right and the warming trend measured in recent times is the result of the Younger Dryas breakup, which was initiated by an asteroid impact most likely on the Greenland ice sheet 11,600 years ago
>yfw Doggerland, and global flood myths suddenly start making sense
Ultimately a moot point though, since our global infrastructure is at least incrementally increasing the already-extant warming trend. Transitioning away from carbon fuels should be a priority, even if no warming trend at all existed, purely for economic reasons. I wonder if Thorium is just a meme or not, I want some clean energy.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yours is just fucking wrong.
>uses a bunch of big science words
>posts anime reaction image
Go listen to Art Bell replays. Environmentalism and "global warming" had an entirely different connotation and >implication from the 60's until about 10 years ago. That dude co-wrote the book that the movie The Day After Tomorrow was based on and was a huge treehugger. The boomers who supported those green movements were often libertarians and were conservative in many ways. If you went back and told them about "carbon credits" and showed them how they're in bed with literal marxists and how they were basically being useful idiots to hand-over all of human activity to global government-corporate regulation, they would have burned their canvas grocery bags screaming. They thought they were being anti-government and anti-corporation
You can just highlight a word and search it if you're unfamiliar with it, user. Stupidity is a choice you don't have to make.
>Younger Dryas
Last Ice Age
>Doggerland
Landmass that existed in Britain's north sea before the ice sheets melted and rose sea levels worldwide
>Asteroid impact
That's when a rock from outer space hits the Earth, it happens a lot and we have new evidence one hit Greenland right where the last ice age seems to end, timewise.
>Thorium
It's an element.
I hope this post proved informative, user.
Boggy Creek 2 is the best episode

I always suspected that Mallon was a sleazy faggit.
How many feature films have you directed?

Beez was/is a dead ringer for the girl I dated senior year of high school 20 years ago. It's oddly bittersweet to see her crop up in episodes.
Jim Mallon is a butthurt crybaby.
>Hahahaha, get a load of this Joel pleb.
i dont remember that episode
Are you me?
He was. He didnt pay royalties properly to the cast. His daughter died and he became a psychologist then sold the MST3k rights to Rhino. I hope he has turned himself around and genuinely feel bad for the guy despite his failings. No parent should have to bury their child.
I hope this user kills himself.
He also tried to sell Bill Corbett's sofa without telling him.
Prince of Space might be the best. Boggy Creek 2 is great because of the nonstop barrage of South jokes.
Compare it to Penn Gillette explaining that the reason he was skeptical was his teenage activism against "global cooling," which was what they had tried earlier.
True, but Godzilla is a metaphor for American terror bombing of densely populated areas, and the original had a scene in which a distraught mother assures her daughter to be happy because soon they will rejoin their father.
Maybe
You're a man's kind of woman, user.
What are the best Rifftrax episodes?
Prince of Space is probably the best if you're just watching for the first time and a filthy weeb and cant resist the temptation to Jap it up on your first outing. Much better than a lot of the Godzilla flicks or other b&w nip films, but i'd still go with one of the 80's films. Far more accessible.
you like robert denby?!
>big science words
You should be embarrassed.
Naw, Prince is great because of how cornball everything is, Jap or not. There's so much stupid material to work with. Going full weeb is something like Fugitive Alien.
Anything HP related is kino
Ones I don't think anyone's mentioned.
Laserblast
Blood Waters of Dr. Z
San Francisco International
Monster a-Go Go
Pod People
Teenagers from Outer Space
Robot Monster
All of them are pretty lazy, but the earlier ones that focused on old B movies could be pretty good.
Some territory seems odd. Like "I am MS" a muscular sclerosis riff, different un-PC black stuff and Matthew Broderick "riding with death".
Some of the mid-90s stuff gets a little edgy and it's nice to see them in that phase.
Heh
Classic MST3K was an entirely different comedic sensibility than what a lot of people are used to. It's very white. It's the kind of polite, but passive-aggressive gallows humor that only people whose ancestors had to suppress their real emotions to survive long freezing northern european winters could invent. Not really born of guilt (hence the rampant unintentional insensitivity), but capable of being shamed after the fact (hence the cast desperately walking back a lot of their old riffs).
Contrast this midwestern smart-but-working-class white protestant humor with Jewish humor (the default in America), which is shot-through with guilt and is an entirely different kind of prickly and passive-aggressive. The kind of humor only a people kicked out of every nation they've ever set foot in could invent. More a weapon than a way of venting suppressed emotions.
>had to suppress their real emotions to survive long freezing northern european winters
Fuck off leftypol
yes... and...?
>when you think you don't like what you've just read but you're not really sure so you flip a coin
That you for addressing this.
I get this and nice insight on the northeners sense of humor. I'm from MT and white haven't ever meet a black person as kids, we'd throw the nigger word around very liberally. What you said is all very true when you're can dissect it without needing to make an apology or pussy foot around.
What is this about them saying shit against blacks?
Are you sure you aren't being an oversensitive PC-faggot?
No.
If you re-read mst3k has walked a lube where they can smartly and unapologetically lampoon black culture through some riffs. I think that the rear in why nobody was pointed it out before I'd because black people don't watch.
>lube
>rear
oh, user...
meant for fuck me
Yeah, fuck autocorrect. Anyway nice of you to point out that mistake while quoting another's post, just to make an other post pointing out your own...
