its true that this particular sequence of slapstick jokes is not spongebob's best work, but on average the show is hilarious because of how it approximates true to life moments in funny ways. the sequence immediately after this, where squidward indulges in his deepest desires and spongebob walks in and torments him on it, is funny and memorable. it's a very well known moment within our culture because it's resonant with our lives.
