I don't understand.
Can't the Night King just play it safe and totally stay out of reach during the battle, and then still kill Bran AFTER he's secured victory?

Bran is like cheese and the NK is like a mouse
Its an action drama show dont overthink bro :)
that's deep
Maybe the night king is overconfident or something.
>logic in a TV show pandering to women
C'mon bro
No, that would be lame. The NK has a thing for being a bad ass.

>Night King at the battle
>They throw everything at him, nearly everybody dies
>Finally NK drops dead after Arya teleports behind him
>Nothing happens
>Turns out the real boss is still up in the butt fuck nowhere in the north
Wow /thread
I mean where does the assumption the Night King is some sort of master tactician come from? Could be a dumb auto-cleanse program for all we know, like pure instinct.
The problem is that Bran could still get away from the Night King, even if he utterly destroys Winterfell.
if bran is an autistic space wizard why did he say sansa looked good getting raped? check mate night kang
How? Bran can't get anywhere on his own and destroying Winterfell means killing all the people who can push his wheelchair.
Perhaps he doesn't have as complete control over the night walkers as people believe and is afraid that Bran might be killed as collateral damage before he can get to him? I have to assume that he needs to kill Bran in a ritualistic fashion to achieve the eternal night he wants rather than him just dying, and if he accidentally gets killed or if the night king has to hold back for fear of killing him then the living might have a chance of pushing them back and possibly winning. Besides, I think he has some arrogance to him, to the point that he believes he can get Bran any time he wants and there's nothing anyone can do to stop him.
It's possible.
We haven't seen the Night King yet, not in the last episode nor the preview of the next.
>We haven't seen the Night King yet
wat
The same way he got around everywhere for seasons: on someone else's back.
He very clearly has a plan besides just killing everything as Bran has blatantly stated. Have you watched any of the last 2 seasons?
>Night King stays behind the line of undead riding his ice unnamed dragon #2
>Drogon and Unnamed Dragon #3 double-team him and win.
or
>Night King stays close to the line with his dragon and generals so they may ice-lance either of the still living dragons if they comes too close.
>Army overwhelms Winterfell, surrounds Bran
>Night King kills bran, but not before Bran pulls some voodoo magic thing that severely weakens the Night King's power
What will he say to Denaerys to convince her he can see the past? Will it surpass what he said to Sansa?
but he will be safe and out of reach, all the way in kings landing
If nothing else he has to be close enough to the front line to ice spear the dragons if they try to raze the front lines with dragonfire, otherwise they'll evaporate the white walkers' entire army
Theory:
The plan absolutely will not go to plan.
Couldn't any of the White Walkers do that?
>ice spear the dragons
5 bucks says ice spears aren't shown ever again
Not in season 8. Only other white walkers and their army of the dead.
i bet 50 that at least one of the living dragons will die trying to kill the undead dragon
now I get it
damn..... . . .
I saw a screen of ep 3. this is exactly what nk does. the walkers and dead you see at end of ep 2 is a decoy. winterfell looks like they are going to beat them, the dothraki and unsullied take huge losses but the dragons do a good job on the undead. just when it looks like winterfell is safe, drogon's shot out of the sky by the golden company, who are attacking from the rear. now everyone retreats into winterfell and is fighting both the undead and the golden company. during the battle, the night king swoops in on viserion and kills all of the golden company turning them to wights. that's when everything falls apart and they abandon winterfell. drogon is only wounded by the ballista.
