Good action and animation it sort of had a smarmy corporate feel to it though.

i marathoned it a few months back when i couldnt sleep and found it pretty enjoyable but yeah it wasnt top quality. nice girl though

in the games the heroes use crosses, bibles and holy water and richter tells dracula to fuck off when he insults religion. yet the (((npcflix))) adaptation ignores this and goes all "fuck the church lol"

>Good action and animation it sort of had a smarmy corporate feel to it though.

Yeah well said. It was worth the watch for sure, but doesnt really have that castlevania feel whatever that means.

Absolute shit, don't let anyone trick you into thinking otherwise

Chekt

Also marathoned it, that must be why the series is so short.

The only good Netflix anime was Devilman Crybabby

hot mama..

yeah tbf the only castlevania game i played was aria of sorrow which was great but was also ages ago and dont really know the greater context

I want to drink Sypha's beer

It's uneven. The animation and fights are great, in retrospect how short season 1 underlines it because they really had to cram both plot and fight sequences into 4 episodes and they did that much better than S2.

S2 retains the amazing animation and fights quality and finally utilizes some fucking Castlevania soundtrack, but the story straight up becomes a problem. The church is basically mafia at this point and it's cartoonishly bad, and my problem isn't in the fact that it's portrayed as bad, it straight up breaks my suspension of disbelief. Why would these guys ever gain mass following? Sure, the church is shit, I am not a religious man, but if you look into history I can sort of understand why church and religion was needed and why it persevered. In the world of Castlevania though?

And bullshit vampire politics are a chore to go through, the ginger beard vampire, I don't think he even has a single decent fight, what the fuck was the point of that character. It sets up next season, but fuck me it feels like a waste of time, in fact, I think episode after Dracula killed sets up the sequel better than episodes of bullshit vampire politics.

It definitely needed more focus and better writing, I think the only thing that works in this shitshow writing-wise are main characters, they are a bit quippy, but they are endearing.

I'd have preferred more monsters and music from the games but thats just me nipticking.
Fight choreography could be better but it doesn't ruin them, slows down in some of the second season them ends successfully.
They sjw'd Issac but he still ended up being one of the better characters, his design in the games was terrible so I don't mind him being black in the show.
Anachronistic dialogue might annoy some people.

I also like the morose way they depicted Dracula.

thanks for the insight. i am a castlevania pleb who only played aria of sorrow so this may have been a big part of why i enjoyed it so much despite its shortcomings, i didnt really have the background and history of the series down

Eh, just how hard is it to adapt NES game's story. There are certain deviations in portrayal of characters here and there but they are negligible, the story is mostly in-tact, except for one thing, they cut one of the playable characters Grant because Ellis didn't think pirate belonged with the direction they were going with this adaptation.

Ok animation and art direction but it dont feels like Castlevania at all.

Fun fact: There was pirates on the black sea and Wallachia had access to black sea back then.

Mixed bag. The animation and overall story are probably the highlights, while dialogue, characterizations and subplots are cliched and flat. Humor doesn't usually fly either.

And I don't know who the fuck the sound designer was, but they need to be fucking shot because everything is wrong with it. Sounds are never louder than anything else, everything plays at the same level, so nothing ever feels big with audio support. And dialogue is low and muted, especially with the main trio, since they always sound like they're talking under their breath and it's hard to understand in slow scenes.

It's okay. Not incredible. They play it farrrr too fucking edgy and brooding, and the wannabe "Game of Thrones" shit gets kind of old.

But the final castle attack and Alucard vs. Dracula make it worth it.

1st season is pretty fucking boring, though.

Second season is literally faggy vampire cries in his room while son and 2 other faggots hang out in library
