Good shit. I binged the first eight episodes in one spur of the moment night.
>what am i in for?
More propaganda created by your Jewish overlords that push some bullshit narrative about Rome
but HBO is based as fuck
Console wars
A true Roman show for true Romans.
a disappointing recast for octavian and an overall rushed 2nd season.
on't listen to this faggot OP. Rome's pure kino. Season one is Soprano's tier good.
that's not true at all
any good torrents of this?

BY DECREE OF THE CONSUL GAIUS JULIUS CAESAR ALL TRANNY AND CUNNY POSTERS ARE TO BE CRUCIFIED FORTHRIGHT. IN ADDITION, FUCK JANNY. THAT IS ALL
Rome died right there on Season 2, budget cut 27 times by networks it called friends. Therefore I propose a motion, to declare BBC and HBO murderers and enemies of Kino
Seconded.
DO NOT SPEAK OF KINO. I PISS ON IT. I SHIT ON IT.
>HBO is based as fuck
Ginger knobs.
and got axed when it was starting to get good
thirded
More like Season 1 Sopranos tier
How epic would it bee if he dabbed after finishing his announcements? lol
First season is the best thing ever created for television.

Sort of. It's historical fiction.
Obviously the street-level drama is fictional, but all set with a well-known historical period as the backdrop.
she was absolutely buttblasted
This, Atia mommy was best girl
Lol it was just a prank, Servillia.
brainlet here. is the Marcus Aurelius from the show the same guy that wrote meditations?
He's not in Rome, though he was in Gladiator.
Polly Walker is gorgeous.
Great show.
Don't know, couldn't watch past 2 minutes. Looks way too showy
oh i was thinking of mark anthony
what are some non-showy shows Yea Forums?
>anthony
Unironically the best character in the show
fuck off nerd
thirteen!
all the surviving stories about Antony are just Octavian's propaganda anyway
It should have stayed as a miniseries. S1 was perfect. Also what's with people posting about Rome lately (and why when I'M watching it?)
read a book or listen to a podcast. this time period in history is great enough without HBO injecting it with bullshit or cutting out important shit
History of Rome
and/or
Death Throes of the Republic
because the brighter ones on Yea Forums have given up GoT but don't want to miss out on the same kind of experience most of the board is having
I didn't watch half the episode today
What did Wikipedia mean by this?
Maybe Antony really was a prick and Octavian wasn't embellishing?
Top notch series that was cut short before its' prime. If you can stomach 12 years of history being crammed into the final 2 episodes after a nice steady buildup then it's definitely worth it
she's delicious
Degenerate opium abuser.
we'll never know
yeah, have listened to history of rome 2 times over going to bed every night since before last year and am on my third listening. might try Death Throes of the Reoublic, sounds more focused on before the age of emperors correct?
Some great cunny
fun fact:that scene in the sopranos where tony has a dream of fucking that one girl in that ancient roman army uniform was reused in rome
Yeah, it's mostly the turmoil before and during Caesar's time, when the republic was initially lost to empire. Hardcore history is great but that one is behind a paywall. Torrents exist though.
HE WAS A
not really, the timespan is extremely compressed, especially in the second season
Rome is the one that should have had 8 seasons, end of the republic era is one of the most interesting periods in history
Death Throes covers everything from the Gracchus brothers to the assassination of Caesar. IIRC, episodes 1-4 are 3 hours each, with episode 5 being like 6 hours.
>Rome is the one that should have had 8 seasons, end of the republic era is one of the most interesting periods in history
No argument from me, I'm glad we got anything but something so grand deserved better than to get ditched for game of trash.
>no season where she tries to match daggers with Livia thinking she'll easily get the upper hand against this newbie
>no season finale where Livia unravels her every plot before her eyes and leaves her dead with zero loose ends
FUCKING SPICE MERCHANT
She got so ugly by the end of the series tho. All that stress.
sneedery
sounds great, don't know anyone pretentious enough to deny the late republic has got to be the most interesting and enjoyable era to learn about in roman history. gonna give it a spin tonight
crisis of the third century would have been just as interesting, if only it wasn't this giant information vacuum
Kino
The episodes on the Punic wars are interesting too, if you like some earlier Roman history.
btw I'm of the opinion that Carthage should be destroyed
HE WAS CONSUL OF ROOOOME
Uploading the episodes since they might be a bitch to track down now that Dan's charging for them. If the thread's still around when it's done I'll link it.
I like how the bbc made their broadcast version dumber than the standard release
it's amazing how in Egypt makeup serves to make its women less appealing
HE
WAS
what makes the late republic so captivating is how well and varied the personalities are
The charismatic calculating ambitious Ceasar seaking revenge for what Sulla did to his family has no attachment to the old men in the senate
The luxurious Crassus despite having all the gold in the world feels inferior and must compensate through an attempt to glory
The bewitching scheming queen of the nile Cleopatra using her charm to influence even the most ambitios of men
The wise uncorruptable Cato wishing to save the dying instituion is as stuborn in life as he is in death
The whoring alcoholic Anthony, who can supprise you when you when given 20 good men
The wise lawyer Cicero, topped by none in political skill desires a peaceful resolution, the true moderate
this isn't even everyone from this exact time of the era and still creates a cast that are too perfect together. I don't think the third century crisis would have any kind of drama to match the short few decades that were the fall of the republic. there would be too much emperor getting back stabbed followed again and again 40 times in a row. and maybe the characters were just as interesting but sadly we don't know because of that damn info vacume
A
The entire show was ruined by woman drama. It would have been much better served if they had actually detailed his campaign against Vercingetorix and then showed the Civil War afterwards.
But no they had to show a bunch of ladies yapping about who marries who, as if they are of any consequence whatsoever.

Please do it user. I'm about to pass out so I'll check the archive tomorrow if I have to.

works great, thanks user. i dont like stealing especially from people like podcasters. i just downloaded the first episode and will listen to it as a trial. will buy it if it is good which it sounds like it is.
Glad to hear it, the collections are reasonably cheap and there are some free ones up too. If it's you're first Hardcore History, you're in for a treat.
Wrath of the Khans is really great, and the first few minutes of Ghosts of the Ostfront fucking stuck with me long after listening.
.... They all have them!
The best Bromance in all of TV
it works
Thanks, now I'm on the FBI watchlist.
Its funny because it's a bunch of Anglos playing Romans...
While in Roman times all Anglo males and females in Rome were either slaves or whores... interesting.
yeah this seems amazing. love learning deeper history, it's always nice to know the broader history like the history of rome podcast does but i love how im going to get 10+ hours on a single era in time. just looked up the khan ones and they seem long as well. man am i happy i brought up podcasts in this thread, thanks again

Don't insult Rome like that.
Happy to share, user. These have great re-listen value.
Wait until after midnight? Or a full 24 hours, however it works. Save the link if you want, I'll leave the files there since I only use that account for sharing shit here anyway.
Cato here seeing the big picture.
Atia's a cunt and kills the show whenever she's on scene. And she never gets her comeuppance and even gets to make Livia (a famous real life OG type bad girl) her bitch in her final scene
Her bullying Octavia's friend for no real reason was funny to me at least. She even played nice when the girls were getting stoned just to put her in her place.
>tfw Octavia's just numb to this shit by the time Servilia's getting tortured
It's not any more captivating than the period that directly precedes it, it's just that it has been romanticized to such a degree it's all that people know.
The best bromance ever.
"Don't you die here with me"
I still cried
But she is hot,
Is Atia one of the most tragic character in Yea Forums?. She basically done everything to make sure her family become the most powerful family in Rome at the cost of his own son.
>that final scene
>"What have I done"
*AHEM*
LEARNED MEN AND GREEKS TALK A WHOLE PILE OF NONSENSE
FUCK 'EM
Also true.
Vorenus and Pullo have an outstanding male friendship that's very rare to see in tv/film anymore. And the few times anyone tries gets dogpiled by tumblr subhumans projecting homosexual fantasies onto it.
FUCK Concord!
Because the British audience inherently knows Roman history better for some reason
As if knowing the history justifies cutting crucial scenes and plot. Its like cutting Caesar's death because everybody knows about it
If you believe in the philosophy that it is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all, watch it.
Every time someone brings up this show there's always one butthurt Italian that they didn't have a bunch of guys who sound like Super Mario
Lel
Tbf Antony made up some shit about Octavian that managed to stick. Like the rumor that he let Caesar buttfuck him in exchange for being named heir.
Well, Atia in real life was a soft spoken, gentle, midwestern-esque, virtuous, helicopter mom so probably wouldn't make for good tv compared to social big shots like Livia and Octavian
Why isn't Ray Stevenson in more stuff?
THE MOCKERY OF THE JEWS AND THEIR ONE GOD SHALL BE KEPT TO AN APPROPRIATE MINIMUM
THIRTEEN!
My dad told me about this show so we watched it all the way through together and actually bonded over it. It's unironically something women will never understand, watch it with a friend if you can. True brotherhood right there.
Don't know, he's great. I was hyped when I realized he was Blackbeard in Black Sails
lmao, they make fun of Jews in the show. HBO may be on the money of the Jews just as everything else is, but not all of their shows are shilling. The Wire literally had the worst top guy on the dirt money trail as the stereotypical Jew, even throwing a couple of Hebrew words in his speech.
a few nigger scenes in season 1[\spoiler]
season 2 has a jewish idenity/resistance arc[\spoiler]
