Mel Gibson is a talented director and actor, but I'm not a fan of The Passion. The ending is like something out of an action movie with that awful cheesy music. I also don't like Caviezel as Jesus. Monica Bellucci is the perfect Mary Magdalene however.
The criticism that it's too violent is silly, though, and I suspect also a bit disingenuous. The film is specifically about Christ's suffering, so of course this aspect is going to be emphasized. But I'm still not a fan.
