Remember what movies looked like before heavily color grading everything became the norm?
Remember what movies looked like before heavily color grading everything became the norm?
The matrix is one of the only good excuses for the heavy color grading. The green tony let’s you know it’s in the matrix and not the real world.
color grading is a basic artistic choice in a fundamentally visual media
directors need to fuck much more with visuals before cinema can be considered a real art
you mean the second layer of the matrix
>before heavily color grading everything became the norm?
>remember what movies looked like before I was born?
>weeeeeeh I care about color schemes
Find love.
top looks better
Flashy colors good
Green and blue bad
The mind of a zoomer
oh yeah how else would we know the diference
EVERYTHING SHOULD LOOK LIKE MUD
DULL, FLAT, AND REALISTIC ONLY
WHY LOOK AT PAINTINGS WHEN YOU CAN JUST STARE INTO THE CONCRETE
R E N T F R E E
>The green tony
EEEEY
It's a valid stylistic choice though. It almost never is in other movies.
crushed black on the blu ray
>dude why don't my movies with heavy special effects look like real life?
Am I broken if I prefer the blu-ray image there?
I’ve bwen shitpoaring endgame spoilers so much my phone has begun to adapt. Tony dies btw
The top looks like a generated cold alternate reality.
The bottom looks like a Netflix TV show suburban household interior scene.
Do it in marvel threads, you faggot
That’s what manbabies expect. No where is safe now
Who would you rather wake up as, Mark or Jez?
Go suck a dick. It's already a real art.
autism
>skin has a flashy color
It's more visually striking but i feel like it would start to piss you off after a while
Trick question, we are all Mark, Jez, and Super Hans.
You mean that you are in the Matrix inside the Matrix.
My face when Zion is just a prison created to humans who can't fit inside the proper simulation. The robots are so wise they build an arid landscape and a war context to reform these humans.
someone post the lotr dvd/blueray comparison
Friendly reminder that the entirety of LOTR is heavily digitally color graded, not just the extended edition.
Jackson proudly digitally color graded the very first print, not only does the DVD have digital color grading but even what you saw in theatres had heavy digital color grading, especially the second and third installment.
youtube.com
The extended editions only changed the original color grade. The theatrical cut is better regardless.
the 2018 SDR BD looks pretty bad, the HDR BD is way better but it has its issues (Neo's green eyes etc.)
left doesn't look real
I do miss the warmer & natural colours that we seem to have lost these days. I think it's also a big reason for CGI feeling very lackluster now (besides the soullessness and rushed nature of the process now), the colour grading make it feel inherently fake.
>jackson was a hackson all along
Both of these flicks look horrible.
The left one is extremely dated absolutely flat lighting non depth cheesy TV 90s look, the right is garbage horrendously oversaturated digital chinese rendered 2010s look.
an owerworlly beauty fits for a magically preserved ubermench palace
first of all, everybody already knows this.
secondly, it only worked as an "excuse" because nobody else was doing it at the time, so there was no need to be "excused".
the truth is that in-plot explanations will never excuse plainly visible social phenomena. people make movies, it's not the other way around.
t h i s
EY TONE. WHY WE GREEN?
I'll agree that Park looks somewhat flat in the stills. I don't mind it, but I can see how it could be a turn off. But given the choice between the two I'll always take the first one, especially in motion, the new i one turns into high contrasty goop.
color correction is cruise control for COOL
how many layers were there ?
Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant.
just one, desu, considering that zion was clearly just another level of the simulation
we need to crush more blacks desu
The tranny directors said there was no second layer.
Be honest, the bottom one is better
fuck the extended editions, no matter which color grade it has
Why does Hollywood hate skin tones?
>digital piss filter added after the fact
Imagine being this wrong.
Man that's dogshit.
>The green tony let’s you know it’s in the matrix and not the real world.
The major theme of the fiction is to make you question the realness of reality after you watch the movie. If it doesn't look like our real world, the point is destroyed.
Different movies, different intentions retard
the bottom is how it looked in the theater. the top is a know-nothing puke color grading a scene to a color scheme that wasn't possible at the time of filming, because full spectrum CFL tubes didn't exist at that time.
Top is the color of ambient daylight
The bottom is someone put teal cellophane in front of the windows? The white level isn't even white. It's impossible for a room to look like this in person. But that's not an argument. Realistic isn't better. But it still looks like shit.
if you had actually seen it in the theater, you would know everything looked green when you walked out.
>not understanding that color grading is an industry standard due to the fact that most digital movies are shot on raw uncompressed flat video formats
the scene took place at night
its also how flouresent lighting appears in certain film stocks that were commonly used in the 90s
You're aware both of these pics have a digital filter over them?
That's cool. What movies have you made that influenced countless that came after?
It's the 7th art form.
>the bottom is how it looked in the theater
Stop lying, retard. Thief was never blue.
wtf, keanu isn't actually greenish?
t.Doug Walker
top is better
bottom looks like a cheap music video
You never saw Thief in the theater, you wouldn't know.
Left is so much better.
Yea, it was. The type of cheap CFL tubes that caused real life to have a blue tint have been phased out.
...and replaced with 10000 other horrible fucking filters that look even worse
Right looks fake. Left looks more tangible and real.
>Hoo Tone you alright? You're looking a little green there. Have a slice of gabagool, you'll feel better
Literal retard opiniom
I'm just telling it like it is, bro. Chill, Pete.
Youtube the scene, the light is raycast like the sun
Ridley Scott has made exactly zero movies that influenced anything in the bluray/digital grading era. It was right the first time.
>The theatrical cut is better regardless.
Bullshit. Extended is the only acceptable version anymore. People who whine about pacing need to realize the pacing was fucked in all the theatrical versions to some extent to begin with and the three hour cutoff was a commercial decision, not an artistic one.
ROTK especially got hacked to pieces because that's when Jackson started to break down from the years-long grind and began to make poor decisions.
I read the entire thread on blu-ray forum and the theatrical bluray is just a tad lighter than the original film. Mann himself graded his DC blue. Fuck off with your bullshit and poor attempts at memes about "CFL tubes".
Theatrical cut of The Fellowship of the Ring is the only truly good film and version.
Any other version is bad. And that includes the sequels.
Gee, maybe spending half of TT making up stuff so you can end the movie at the same point the Ralph Bakshy did because you have a massive nerdboner, JUST MAYBE was a bad idea.
neo had no special power outside the matrix besides the fact that the robots were connected to the matrix and his existence was a "bug" they couldn't get rid of. There's no second layer.
has anyone attempted to make such a version?
underrated
Which version?
en.wikipedia.org
the shittiness of old CFL tubes casting tons of blue light was actually a plot point in a contemporary movie, joe vs the volcano.
>making up stuff
Like what?
I am essentially Jez already
>The Matrix is in my top 5 films
>my name is Tony
>my skin has a sickly green tint
You called?
Fuck color grading
The tranny directors stole the story from Philip K. Dick. They only put niggers and leather in it. For Matrix 2 and 3 they were on their own, look how terrible those movies are.
That green and piss yellow tint in movies from the early 2000's makes me nostalgic as fuck.
>Eomer being ostracized and removing Erkenbrand from the story entirely
>Hama dies in a warg attack made to make up the lack of the wolves in FotR instead of dying at Helm's Deep
>random elves arrive at Helm's Deep with Haldir, in the book they were literally a throwaway line of Legolas saying "i wish i was fighing with my people"; Haldir also dies and in an earlier draft, Arwen was supposed to show up
>pointless fluff with the Ents in general
>removal of Dunlendings at the battle of Helm's Deep wich gives a moment of Aragorn to show his kingboner
>everything that happes to Frodo and Sam as soon as they're caught by Faramir is made up, in the book when he hears their story he has a laugh, then sends them back to Minas Morgul and the books ends after the events with Shelob, with Frodo captured and Sam going to Cirith Ungol
I just named a few. TT is the most fucked up adaptation of the trilogy.
This image actually is really sad.
He could see without eyes.
Smith could "invade" the body of a person outside the matrix.
There was also a spoon given to Neo outside the matrix.
The humans as battery narrative doesn't make sense.
BRICK WALLS! WHAT THE FUCK CHRISSY WE GOTTA GET OUTTA HEA
their sex scene was the most awkward shit ever
>LOTR trilogy have been my favorite movies ever since they were released
>changing the color grading for the Fellowship EE blu-ray is the exact type of thing I'd normally get autistic over
>mfw it's never noticeable while watching the movie and only when I'm looking at a side by side comparison do I see a difference
>still kinda prefer the look of the blu-ray
feelsgoodbros
It made sense in the matrix because green crts. Every ham director since copied it for no reason.
if you don't know when Neo is in the matrix you aren't watching it though and its supposed to recreate the real world.
Wait, are directors who do this actually color blind?
Zach Snyder loves the edgy green/blue tint
I wonder if he ever sucked her toes?
Gerard
>soul
>soulless
That Man of Steel had a lot of steel blue filter in places still makes me laugh.
Then BvS was a lot of ambers. I feel like he over-corrects to crits. Like all the ADR'd dialogue about how the areas they were fighting in were evacuated or under construction or nobody was there because no-one works late in the financial district etc.
Surely these people don't ruin their work and also release a theatrical cut along with their blu-ray super touched up shit
>comics is the 8th art
>videogames is the 9th art
a REAL art, retard
I would rather not wake up at all.
I don't understand what this means
don't worry bro it's just photoshop
This is the Jewish ways, void of any life and soul
OPERATAH, GET ME OUTTA THIS FREAKY FUCKIN' COMPUTA GAME, THIS SHIT AIN'T FUN ANY MOA
ADR is a term for post-production dubbing.
So they used post dubbing cause the areas they filmed in were empty? I don't follow
maybe I'm just reading it wrong
my name is mark, and almost exactly like him, but with the life failures of jez. my roommate is completely a jez
they added lines in post so characters would say soon-to-be destroyed areas were empty.
jesus how are you this bad at reading?
who turned on the lights?
>comics is the 8th art
>videogames is the 9th art
I'm usually not so who knows
wtf, left looks so much better
thank you, I needed this.
>He could see without eyes.
Genetic mutation, and no he couldn't see everything, just certain energies
>Smith could "invade" the body of a person outside the matrix.
I don't even see what your point is on this one. They made it clear that smith had breched the boundaries of the program and the brain wipe technology is discussed in the first film.
>There was also a spoon given to Neo outside the matrix.
That was given by the potential, who was a member of zion ya clown.
The bottom is actually closer to the theatrical release
Is he smoking weed here? Doesn't look like a cigarette really.
>t. man who was born after it left theaters
I don't think he can see, more like he can sense
Smith uploaded his mind into that other guy's body replacing the mind of that guy he just killed, i don't see the problem
what ?
human as batteries is meant to be a punishment
No shit, did you not read the text from op
>the battle will take place at night
>you won't be able to see a fucking thing
WELL, ENJOY THE NEXT EPISODE.
So nice for Keanu to sit with his mom for a picture like that
>not an orange filter
Imagine being this retarded.
>remember what movies look like before X
>posts the before pic after
where can I download an unadultered version of the fellowship of the ring?
The fucking mommy vibes Trinity gives off. Goddamn those hips.
Jewpilled.
I've been trying to find the best versions of each Matrix movie to own in HD and so far I've found out the following:
>The Blu-Ray version of the trilogy has the original movie looking more green to fit in with the sequels
>The 4K ultra HD version of the trilogy has the sequels looking more blue to fit it with the original, but the included Blu-Ray discs are bad-looking transfers of the 4K
I just want each movie the way it looked in the theater (1 is blue, 2 and 3 are green) on Blu-Ray. Anyone here own a bunch of these who can give me some advice?
The reason old moves get a blue filter thrown on them when they get rereleased is because baby brains like this thinks it makes them look more “modern”. Congratulations on being a utterly retarded faggot user.
are the directors concerned about this?
are the actors concerned about this?
are the theater companies concerned about this?
are they talking about this in ANY of the millions of film schools across the usa?
are your parents friends or family concerned about this?
no....
so why are we?
that's not a good thing, though
of course this is discussed across film schools worldwide
directors are concerned too, but it's more of an industry thing than an artistic choice these days
people are totally justified in being bothered by it
Go kill yourself pleb
Check out this thread. Even with 35mm scans no one is sure what the most "correct" color timing is but there are some guesses.
originaltrilogy.com
they both look like shit
I'll have a close look at this, thanks
Well as long as scenes in Mexico still have an orange filter, I don't care.
Look at both that site and forum.fanres.com. They're full of people who are anal about all the little differences between releases and Matrix always produces a lot of comparisons.
Is the green tint how agent Smith see the world?
I don't get it
The id, ego, and super ego
its the mastering of the colourist work thats the problem. making the overall shot perfectly balanced seems impressive but pretty uninspired and non-immersive.
same problem in music i guess
underrated
Non sequitur
Mommy vibes often correlate with Oedipus complex and that actress is Jewish which is also often associated with that.
pink man...bad?
I don't really mind that they use this, but once the movie is released they should stop making changes to it.
Or maybe offer both versions. At the very least put a warning on the box that the movie has been altered from the original.
after reloaded and revolutions came out they re-tinted the original
AC3 Remastered (no shading) vs. AC3 native
Color grading is good when there's actual effort put into it and unfortunately most movies just add a filter on top and call it day, making the whole thing look bland and sometimes even unwatchable instead of interesting.
hand rolled tobacco my dude
