cause of the rapper stunt

doesn't want them

Jews

His open distain for acting awards.

Looks like a failed tranny in this one

Literally the most brilliant piece of acting in the past century. He should’ve won an award for that hoax alone. Plebs just don’t get it.

yeah but he acted in real life not on a stage so it triggered the kikes, they felt disrespected

Academy awards are a joke

society is cruel to gamers

Cause it would outshine River's late work

he'll get it for this mcdonald's arthouse performance much like leo did for the revenant

The world is a comedy

he is a jew

>just rip off Jeremiah Johnson and put Leo in it so we can give him an award lol
>same, but with Taxi Driver and Joaquin lol
Do you suppose they’re trying to create an illusion of legitimacy in an age of brainless CGI blockbusters or just capitalizing on plebs’ ignorance of film history by rehashing classics with current stars?

Recently I watched the master again and I can't believe he didn't won. He's better than the Oscars anyway.

He legitimately doesn't care about them. In fact, he basically hates them and probably does not want to win one.

He doesn't care about awards in general. His reaction when he won in Cannes, was priceless.

Not getting nommed for You Were Never Really Here is a crime. Best portrayal of suicidal depression I've seen

Because his last movie was about how rich Pedophiles run sex clubs and control the police force

He won in Cannes for it though.

Also not sure if anyone knows but the guy got a fucking Grammy for Walk The Line, because he was singing with his own voice, something that Male didn't do but yet, he got the Oscar.

>Male
I meant Malek

As much as I like DDL, I really think that Joaquin deserved it more that year. Talking about DDL, can't believe that he and Joaquin were never in a movie together, such a waste.

he's an incel

Maybe he refuses to suck cocks

That didn't help. People don't like being made a fool of, or being forced to play an unwitting part in someone else's publicity stunt.

The thing about an Academy Award: if there are six great performances, there is one award; if there are no great performances, there is still one award.

So it isn't really the validation people believe it to be.

Because the Joker hasn’t come out yet

Assuming he'll even get a nomination for it, I can only imagine how Yea Forums will react to this, especially if he'll win too.

he probably doesnt give a fuck about awards anyway. Im sure he only does it anymore to honor the memory of his bro.

Are there really people on this board that still put stock in the fucking Oscars? They've been garbage since at least the 70s

Tell me for which performance should he have won an Oscar?

Stupid Mac keyboard

He was nominated for Gladiator, Walk The Line and The Master. His performance in these movies was way better than performances who won at the Oscars through the years.

Philip Seymour Hoffman had a better performance in Capote. Daniel Day Lewis had a better performance in Lincoln.
I agree with the role of Commodus, although Del Toro wasn't really that worse in Traffic

>he only does it anymore to honor the memory of his bro
This is probably true. I watched an interview where he talked about acting all these years and it took me by surprise when he said that he never felt the same excitement on set that he used to feel when he was a kid. I think he's still stuck in the past and thinks about the days were his brother was still around. After that incident, he was never the same again.

I wasn't talking about how he should have won against them, I said that his performances were Oscar worthy in general and they were Oscar winners through the years with easier competition who deserved it less than him.

hakeem

Whatever role was the wokest and most transgressive toward traditional morality. Aren't those the ones that win oscars?

the joker will be good, but like blade runner 2049 good or drive or nightcrawler good, it'll empower the neets and incels and the jews can't reward that

Well that's the problem of the worth of an Oscar award, if all great films get released in one year (look at 2007 with No Country, The Assassination of Jesse James and There Will Be Blood, all of those film could've won an Oscar for nearly every filmmaking element) there will still just be one single Oscar, and the next year there can be nothing but shitty films and some film or performance will still get an Oscar by not being as shitty as the other ones.

I'm thinking the movie will be too but I doubt the Oscars will even care because it's still a comic book based movie and the main reason Heath won the Oscar, was to honor his death, otherwise they wouldn't give it to him no matter how good his performance was.

Yes, this seems to be the reason why the Oscars lost the impact that they used to have in the past. There were years were the nominees had really mediocre performances that you wouldn't even imagine that they would even get a nomination.

what rapper stunt???

He actually sucks. His acting sucks. I hate his face. I hate his personality. I don't get why people like him. Also, he is a Jew.

He grew a full beard and went around on talk shows making an ass of himself, claiming to have changed careers. People legitimately thought he had lost his mind.

Too pale.

fetal alcohol syndrome

It is punishment for Rivers death and Joaqin acting out in public about it and other things a few years ago.

>I'm Still Here is a 2010 American mockumentary comedy-drama film directed by Casey Affleck, and written by Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix. The film purports to follow the life of Phoenix, from the announcement of his retirement from acting, through his transition into a career as a hip hop artist. Filming officially began on January 16, 2009 at a Las Vegas nightclub. Throughout the filming period, Phoenix remained in character for public appearances, giving many the impression that he was genuinely pursuing a new career.

He basically lied that he will drop acting and start a rapper career. For two years he kept the act, he appeared on Letterman in character and this appearance annoyed many people l. Everyone thought that he literally lost it and went completely insane.

If this guy is so based how come I haven't heard of him before Joker? Why is Goose our guy?

this was brilliant...was he any good acting like a rapper/crazy guy

nah...he is very good user dont let the capeshit keep you from watch the real acting

Joaquin Phoenix Called 911 After His Brother River’s Fatal Overdose in 1993

I don't know since I only watched his interview on Letterman and it was really awkward to watch if you didn't know that this was just an act. He came off as rude and Letterman was trying to be professional about it. Of course if you watch the interview now, it's hilarious because we know it was just an act but back then it caused lots of negativity.

Yes, and what about it?

When he was filming Walk the line, there was this scene where he had to act that he's losing his brother and it is known that he collapsed when he was filming that. He denied it and said that he was just exhausted but people who worked on the movie said that he was a mess because it brought back memories of his own brother who literally died on his hands. After this movie he also started drinking a lot, he went fully method for this movie that he had to go clean afterwards and deal with his drinking problem.

he has a hair lip

honestly what happened? i know people age differently and some people still look like twinks at age 40 - but how the fuck does a man turn that ugly so soon? he used to be hot

There was a thread about his brother the other day and I found out how fucked up his family is, no wonder he is socially awkward and avoids interviews and press.

we live in a society

Because The Master came out the same year as Lincoln. Any other year he would've won.

Unless there's some SERIOUS competition instead of the usual "there was nothing better" from the last few years, I think he will be nominated at least
He will be trying for lead actor though, which will be harder than it was for Heath Ledger with supporting actor

Someone from OUATIH (maybe Leo) will get it anyway. It's already a favourite even if the movie is not yet. It's just the type of movie that the Oscars won't be ashame to reward.

You are either young or you completely ignored some very well known movies that he was in.

This. Master is supremely underrated.

no actor can correctly pronounce "Joaquin" on the winner card and they don't want another Travolta incident

Zoomer faggot. He's excellent in gladiator and the master

Should have won it for Freddie Quell.
DDL's portrayal of Lincoln was good, but it was still an existing person which he drew inspiration from. Quell was one of the best characters in film, and he was original.
If he wins for Joker I'll be disappointed, not because Joaquin doesn't derverse the recognition, but because it's for a character that's been done to death.

no he's Christian

My thoughts exactly. I agree with everything you said. Also about him winning for Joker, you just know the new generation who never watched one of his other movies, will get the wrong picture about his career.

because the academy awards aren't about skill or talent but about promoting the artists that the industry wants to use for their own agendas either political or monetary but probably both.

Honestly this

Not the same user but maybe he was talking about the leaked video where you can hear Joaquin calling 911 when River was dying.

The right way to say it is Ho-A-Kin, it's a Spanish name and the guy who gave him the award in Cannes, actually said it right. Unfortunately Americans call him Walk-In or even Jo-Kin.

youtu.be/RRb_3hCa72Y

How can you be mad at this? This was golden comedy.

Just imagine. If any celebrity nowadays would come out saying that they're seriously changin the direction of their career nobody would give a fuck. American media is so used to celebrities saying bizarre shit publicly these late couple of years. Joaquin was ahead of his time.

makes me really sad to admit it but yeah

AI girlfriend cheated on him with like a billion people

>Joaquin was ahead of his time
And that was exactly the problem back then. Others took inspiration from him afterwards. Zach Galifianakis in Hangover was basically Joaquin during his "I'm still here " act. Shia LaBeouf is another person that I can think of that maybe got some inspiration from this act.

>Phoenix's father, John Lee Bottom, originally from Fontana, California, was a lapsed Catholic of English, German, and French Huguenot ancestry.[8][9][10] His mother, Arlyn (née Dunetz), was born in The Bronx, New York, to Jewish parents whose families were from Hungary and Russia.[11][12][13][14]

Hasn't had the right part in the right year yet. He'll certainly get a lifetime achievement award eventually.

2010 - "I'm still here"
2017 - "You were never really here"

Is this a hidden message or just coincidence?

His mother became Christian and the kids grew up as Christians so it doesn't really count. Even that sex cult that they were in, was Catholic.

>it doesn't really count
he is and forever will be, by blood, one of the chosen, doesn't matter what he was raised in or what he believes now

Alright then

After the movie "Parenthood" in 1989, Joaquin stopped acting until he returned with "To Die For" six years later and started calling himself Joaquin again (as a child and teen actor he was "Leaf Phoenix"). Apparently something happened during the time he was filming "Parenthood" because he didn't want to act anymore after this and so he traveled with his father instead in Mexico and other places. I can only imagine a few reasons since he was a teen boy and knowing what happened to his older brother when he was also at that age by the cult and producers, probably triggered him more, or maybe something happened to him as well. I'm surprised that he can still hold on till today with all these shit that he's been through. He had a phase of course when he became alcoholic during walk the line, but still he's in a better state than other celebrities who had a better life than him.

There's nothing fucking worse than losing a brother. Fuck this gay earth.

He was better than DDL by miles.
More so for women than men, but yeah.

He’s open about how much he dislikes the awards circuit, only rarely will pick roles that could be considered oscarbait, and whenever he’s nominated he’s up against ridiculous competitive nominees
That’s crazy. Didn’t know that.

Because it's impossible to tell if he's just trolling or not. I thought the joker shit was just more of his act until it started getting 30 posts an hour.

I'm from California and familiar with the San Joaquin area/river

I think the only value that the academy awards holds nowadays is to give new actors merits to get more conections in the industry so they can get bigger roles.

For actors Joaquin or DiCaprio the oscars don't mean that much since they already big and well respected actors. They don't need to prove anything at this point.

Especially if he dies in your arms and you are unable to save him, something that literally happened in their case.

He is a white male

2pbp

imagine getting an oscar after 2008

You're right but we live in a shitty time where kids think that the awards make an actor great. I've seen Joker fans saying that because both Heath and Leto won Oscars, are better than him and shit like that.

no she started following the teachings of Alan Watts, netorare is outlawed in the future

Reading this thread and all the things about his family and all this act for "I'm still here", I realised that his life is more interesting than some of the shows and movies that I've watched.

When he was nominated, someone else recieved more votes.

End of story.

He's half Jewish. Is that still white?

No because he's Catholic and Jews don't accept him even if it runs in his blood from his mother's side.

That was meant for as well.

The oscars are just doing fan service at this point.
Remember that time when we thought it would be ridiculous to see MCU capeshit movies winning awards? Or even get nominations??

maybe if he was jewish on his paternal side, but he is jewish on his mother's side

Oscars haven't meant shit since Brando dabbed on them back in '73.
