Disagree as much as you want. The only contenders are the other Prequels and the first two Jurassic Parks. Every filmmaker afterwards has forgotten that sound is an important part of film.
The best soundwork in all of cinema

The Revenant had pretty good sound design overall. Same with the first Alien.
Agreed. The sound in this scene is amazing, the sound of the engines roaring and all the 700 mph fly-bys.

The podrace is low hanging fruit though. It's a car race so it will automatically sound great. And there is no music in it until the very end which helps us focus on the sounds of race and mechanical speed.
>Every filmmaker afterwards has forgotten that sound is an important part of film.
This is patently stupid.
And you've forgotten about Saving Private Ryan, which was revolutionary in this regard and, unlike the prequels, actually won an Oscar for sound design.
In 1999 The Phantom Menace went up against The Matrix for the best sound design Oscar and LOST. No other prequel was nominated for its work in sound.
Gravity had great soundwork in 2013 and also won an Oscar. So no one has forgotten about sound design user.
During this moment some boomer woman said "Oh wow, look at that!" or something similar in that moment, completely ruining it. I still seethe at it over a year later even though TLJ isn't that good anyway.
It’s hard for me to choose whether TPM or AOTC had better sound. As much as I fucking hate AOTC I feel like it overall edges out TPM. The podrace is really the only standout example I can think of.
It's a well known fact that the Academy hates any kind of "genre" movie, especially science fiction. Also, there is no Oscar for "sound design".
Your double spaced argument is invalid.
>The Virgin TLJ silent hyperspace ram
>Awkward to watch.
>*somebody coughs nervously*
>People taken out of the story, wonder if sound system is glitching.
>Incongruent with established lore. Confuses and frustrates the audience.
>The Chad AotC deafening seismic charge
>Exciting to see
>People gasp and chear when it happens
>Audience is engaged, immersed in that high performance Dolby 7.1
>Fits perfectly with Jango Fett's set of gadgets
I watched TLJ in a theater in Tokyo. During the Holdo Manuever scene when she rams the ship and everything goes silent, I shouted out, "Tenno heika banzai!" at the top of my lungs. Everyone burst out laughing and a schoolgirl said, "Kawaii."
I loved bladerunner for the soundeffects and soundtrack

My dad got a new sound system right around when this movie came out on DVD. That was the scene he played for every sorry motherfucker who walked through our front door for months.
>only example
Excuse me?
why did they remove so much bass from the lightsabers after TPM?
>and the first two Jurassic Parks
I don't get it. Why did all new dinosaurs roars seem so uninspired?
>tfw you forgot about me
Best light sabre battle? Seriously, everything after that doesn't even come close in tension and tries to top it either with stupid gimmicks like Yoda or by drawing it simply out.
good observation
>Disagree as much as you want.
No one ever disagreed that the sound design of Ben Burtt in Star Wars series is bad you dumb ass.
He even got an Oscar nomination for it.
And the implication that no one cares about sound mixing and sound editing after the year 2000 is beyond ignorant and retarded.
I mean in terms of sound. I’m a pretty big fan of TPM really.
