Because:
A) They had no chemistry. There was never anything hinting at a romance or love, literally nothing.
B) The setup of the scene doesn't make sense since Finn can't fly, which was the plot point that literally kickstarted the last movie
C) The whole scene came out of nowhere. Poe ordered everyone to turn around, and and we literally have a birds eye shot of everyone but Finn turning around, but then suddenly Rose is in front of him, with enough speed to ram him. Also ramming someone at full speed usually kills everyone involved, yet they are unharmed. Also why does no one shoot them?
D) Rose's line of saving what you love is the dumbest thing ever, especially because she just literally prevented Finn from saving what he loves, all the while dooming the entire Resistance to die and because just one scene earlier Holdo was heralded as a hero for saving everyone in a suicide attack that kills all the people she hates.
E) Because, and most importantly, Finn dying would've actually been a really good narrative twist that could've salvaged a lot of problems people had with the movie. Think about it, a bunch of criticism came from the fact that the Casino plot line was so disconnected and because Poe's character arc was just a bunch of extras dying in an attack that was ultimately necessary, and so it didn't feel earned. If Finn had died here, it would've made the Casino plot line into a more believable character arc by ending it with a bigger emotional punch, and it would've neatly connected that disconnected plot line to Poe's story line and character arc, by actually killing a friend who saved him, instead of some random extras, as a direct consequence of his actions. Instead we got subverted into a non-existent romance and a rose moment that is more comical than anything, because immediately after rose talks about saving everyone, the doors blow up and the shock troopers march in to kill everyone.
