Ghost in a Shell live action is hot garbage and if you like you are doing a disservice to humanity.

I don't understand why people didn't like it. Was it just bandwagoning? Or was it something else.

Usually (warranted) disappointment at the poor adaptation from the source material.

I just finished watching 2012 for the first time, it was a very entertaining movie, Roland Emmerich is underrated in general.

Well, I guess I'm going to do more research.

I saw him doing standup last summer in Pasadena, he was alright but he spent a good amount of his set showing off a literal tranny he was trying to fuck.

Based. It has some problems with pacing but otherwise it's an excellent entry into the franchise.

I wanted to hate it. So I tried to hate it. I refused to watch it. Then I watched it and didn't hate it. Lots of wasted potential and eyerolling moments but not the travesty I assumed it would end up being.

yeah, I didn't hate it either, but it was just kind of... meh

I just watched this the other day. Don't understand why it got panned - true, the third act could have been tighter, but overall I quite enjoyed it.

thank you. They should have got another screenwriter to come in and tighten things up a bit, but overall I still liked it. Those were some fuck-awesome elves.

it was ok, it would have been better if we found that he woke her up at the end

Who would have been better than Will Smith for that role?

Unironically.
The banter was great between Kline, Smith, and Branagh from beginning to end, Salma Hayek was hot as fuck as usual, and all the action was entertaining.
I was legitimately surprised when I learned it got panned so badly years later.

That would have really soured a happy ending, though. You can only really spring that on people at the end if you're going for something more nihilistic.

I personally would have liked it if they'd cut straight from them talking about the stasis function of the autodoc to the crew waking up at the end, so you don't know what she chose. The crew go into the medbay and find a blonde woman in the autodoc - but it's not JLaw! She decided to stay with Chris Pratt, and at some point in the next 80 years they had a child, knowing that when she was old enough they could put her in stasis so that she wouldn't have to live out her life on the ship. The girl shows them her mother's diary, including her justification for her decision to stay awake. The last scene is their daughter setting foot on a new world (so the audience get to have their cake and eat it too - JLaw makes the ultimate sacrifice of abandoning her life to stay with Chris Pratt, but her child gets to continue her journey)

Also, the whole purging the reactor thing really needed to be cut down

It was released during a period where society was extra sensitive to rapey behavior. Him releasing her to fuck her and it actually working was rape culture tier and in poor taste.

Kill yourself, dipshit.

i enjoyed it too. 6.5/10 fantasy world building is always fun

Unironically this. I was shocked how much I enjoyed it. This and Rogue One. So fucking good.

Honestly, I thought Will Smith nailed it. I was surprised by how well he managed to balance humour and being a bitter old man. The only real problem with casting him is that at this point he - and his acting style - is so well know that it's almost impossible to see just the character and not Will Smith. But I don't think that's his fault, I think his style was a really good fit for the role.

shit, I left my trip on. Oh well.

I remember getting the www sunglasses from Burger King when this came out. Good times fun movie

Should’ve chose a different actress.

lol TLJ was complete shit, awful taste.

>Should’ve chose a different actress.
Why? What did JLaw do or not do that a different actress would have improved on?

I'm sure I don't need to say that that's fucking stupid, but I'll say it anyway: that's fucking stupid. The entire point of the movie is that at the end she makes a free choice to stay with him.

the only good Superman film since Reeves
