Since comics in the 80s and 90 pretty much explored every corner of funniness and made jokes about literally everything, there's not much original comedy left. And so the focus shifted to what the comic represents rather than what he has to say. A middle class black comic who is slightly on the spectrum? Sold. A girl that looks like every sorority hoe except with a trace of self-awarness? Sure. An upper-middle class arab who disappointed his family by dropping out of med school? Fuck yeah!
