I just saw him perform a couple weeks ago. Still hilarious, had a joke along the lines of. "I used to sell at stadiums, I had a fucking TV show, I won fucking awards.... Now I'm performing at tiny comedy clubs in malls.

It was unironically one of Yea Forums's favorite, if not favorite, shows when it was airing. The reason the IBG memes found such a big audience here is because people already loved Louie so much. If you look back to when the first three seasons were airing then you'll see that the love for Louie was genuine. Then he took a break to "raise his daughters" and his popularity started to wane. I still remember the absolute hype for Louis' SNL appearance and the disappointment when the episode turned out to be unfunny garbage. Then the IBG stuff started happening and Louis became more known for the memes than his show. But still, I think its pretty undeniable that Yea Forums as a whole loved Louie.

It's a weird ego project. At least he managed to do something different though.

seasons 2 and 3 were amongst the best tv shows of the last 20 years

Sometimes too indulgent, but always worth watching. At its best I think it's easily one of the best shows ever made.
