what THE FUCK was Rowling thinking?
>ayo harry wuts dat one white girls name you always wid? she high key hot af nigga no lie
She later said she regretted it.
I don't know. Hermione is the main girl, right? But she ends up with the best friend, doesn't that make the story a bit cuckish?
Then again, Harry ends up with Ron's sister, but did Rowling plan that from Chamber of Secrets?
Who got cucked from a Hero's Journey perspective? Ron or Harry?
She didn't want Harry's kids to be mudbloods
Is he a negromancer or just a black magic adept
what parallel?
james was raised by wizards and lily by muggles
harry was raised by muggles and hermione was raised by muggles
But then Ron would have to end up with Ginny...
Rowling has said that she paired Ron with Hermione entirely as “wish fulfillment”, that the mousey bookworm could get with a nobody like Ron even when you have a powerful celebrity like Harry right in plain sight.
If we were being realistic:
>Harry and Hermione bond over being muggles
>They arrange to meet up outside at 15-16
>they fuck
>they get married right out of hogwarts
>Harry becomes wizard special ops man tapping witches on the side
>Hermione becomes paranoid and tracks him
>She finds the truth
>Hermione raises the kids as muggles as a single mother
>one of the kids is a wizard, the other is a muggle
>the muggle gets preferential treatment
>wizard kid goes to hogwarts, placed as slytherin
>Harry does increasingly more dangerous jobs until a dark wizard finally kills him
My main issue with it is how Hermione is completely out of Ron's league and it's not really explained how/why Hermione would be attracted to Ron or reciprocate his feelings
Realistically it would be an attraction that only goes one way and there would be a friendship-ruining sort of rejection at some point
Based punished Harry poster

She thought it would be too obvious, but even she admitted that she fucked it up by not pairing them a few years ago.
if they wanted to go the realistic route he'd have stayed with cho
Wineburgers cocksleeve(Watson); Luna; Padma; Tonks; or even the pajeet sisters, it doesn't matter what pairing you retcon this plebian tumblr shit, it's still one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series' only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it's certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
>we will never get Harry Potter IX: Return of Voldemort
The movies for sure threw some cold water on Ron and Hermione together. The thing is though, there movie characters are vastly different than the book ones. I've always felt like book Ron and Hermione make sense while Movie Harry and Hermione make sense. Basically the book characters are fundamentally different the the movies ones. Even Harry is different, he's basically a turbodouche in the books, but the movies made him much more empathetic
>No Clifford for president
Delete thineself with much haste
why is he here, does hogwarts do vodoo classes
Memetics aside, that's actually a really realistic portrayal of a high school romance.
It just ends. No melodramatic break up, no ending conversation. It just ends from lack of conversation and contact.
what i dont understand is that nobody seems to really respect harry enough
they make a big fuss over him turning down admirers and shit but he does amazing shit every single year, in a real school just playing football well makes people cheer your name
Harry lost interest when Hermione turned black.
Where is lord of the rings in this ranking?
Hermione being with either Ron or Harry doesn't really make sense though outside of the emotional bond they have together from the shit they all went through. Can you objectively look at Harry/Ron's characters and say that they'd have good chemistry with a bookworm, that in the books, doesn't look that good? Especially considering they're both basically war heroes and could have any girl they wanted. Harry and Ginny make sense because they're both at least into some of the same stuff like quidditch and shit. What do Harry and Hermione share in common besides being raised by muggles until they were 10, which in Harry's case wasn't even a good time for him because he was raised in a cupboard. Hermione and Ron doesn't make sense for the same reason, they have nothing in common. Hermione just had too many woman hormones going through her which is why she was so retarded with guys. Before someone tries to say she wasn't consider this: First guy she was with was Viktor Krum who was older than her and a sports superstar, second guy was McLaggen who had high contacts since his uncle was friends with the Minister and she was only with him to make Ron jealous and spent all of book 6 being mad at him for being with another girl, third was Ron who is one of her best friends and a war hero; now can someone tell me how a girl that was written to not be pretty would end up with any of these guys.
Hermione should've been with some Ravencuck, that would've made much more sense.
This in particular, but I get it, Movie! Harry and Hermione had insane chemistry, and completely shafted Ron many times.
JK Rowling essentially wanted a big Weasley family. I support Ron and Hermione but Harry and Ginny was just forced and weird.
That's because movie Hermione got all of book Ron's good lines. Ron in the books is a good friend, smart but lazy and a nice average dude. That's because he was written to be the average guy Harry wanted to be but wasn't allowed to be.
I think the emotional thing matters a lot though. I have a hard time to believe that two straight, 17 year olds alone and cold in a war zone wouldn't form some deep rooted emotional bond that dictates the rest of their life in some way.
I could even see it being unhealthy, like after the war Harry and Hermione try to date other people but because of the shit they went through together they can't get away from one another and end up cheating on the people they try to date with one another.
Obviously would never happen in a kids book, but hey yah know
Ron would have gone fucking insane and either become a homeless drug addict or kedavra-ed up the school. Think of how irrelevant that pairing would make Ron. He's already nothing without Harry, and now Harry takes the only significant female interest in their circles. Ron would begin to resent Harry; he would never be able to forgive him, deep down. He would be nothing more than a supporting character in someone else's story.
I mean too bad for Ron being a beta orbiter then in my opinion. Plus your point illustrates why a lot of people feel like he's a shit character books, movies or otherwise
because ginny was jk self insert, not hermione

>well, everyone wants to see these two get together
>they can't though, because it's TOO obvious!
>i'll just subvert expectations...
This is the train of thought which led to it all.
it's just the wishy washy revisionism of rowling
she obviously intended them to be together but was like
oi u kno what, ron doesn't have anyone so i'll force these two people together
she actually has said that originally ron + hermoine was a self insert sort of thing and realized along the way with everyone else that harry + hermione made more sense, but kept ron + hermione any way for her own personal wish fulfillment
based
based anime fanfiction level writing
Rowling doesn't think.
wrong. rowling just retconned the ending. ron and harry end up together and hermione marries dean
based and blacked and gaypilled
retconned? what’s that?
Retroactive continuity
Harry should've plowed Cho until his dong fell off. That was some sweet Asian takeaway right there and she wanted him badly.
Imagine living your whole life with your sister, loving her and forming a life long bond, then getting cucked by your best friend.
Think about it logically...
Rowling changed the pairings lots of times. I have no doubt in my mind that Luna was actually gonna be the final pairing. The chemistry was there in the sense they were both outcasts, they bonded over their parents deaths with the thestrals, she was a loyal ally who was willing to fight to the death with him and they basically start doing shit after the chink ditches his tiny white peen.
It was all there but for some reason she pussied out. After this she coudlnt' even decide on ginny or hermione because in the books there were certain scenes that hinted either. One of the more compelling theories I believe is that ginny love potioned his rich ass to gtfo her parents shit life.
>implying Rowling ever had a long term plan
She made stuff up on a book-by-book basis, she hadn't got a clue who was going to end up with who until the moment she wrote it.
k i n o
makes it too obvious for the newfags
Hermione is not really attractive in the books (ignore the waifufags, they would find anything attractive). She's not ugly, but she's not Emma Watson either.
Plus she had a very annoying personality and was a friendless loser before Ron and Harry.
Yeah somewhat agree. I always wondered why Ron had such low self-confidence. Dude, you are extremely famous by the end and helped defeat a super villain. Even incel e-celebs on twitch can find hot thots to bump and some War Hero can't?
Plus you know Hermione was a naggy wife who barely put out.
>Rowling
>thinking
hahah
Snape undeniably cucked by Lily, it's hairy cuckold the series
Literally SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS.
Should've gone with the Pajeeta
In the books Hermione and Ron are both dorks, so the pairing makes perfect sense. The problem with the movies is that Hermione is played by Emma Watson so it's hard to buy her as an annoying nerd that only Harry and Ron can tolerate.
>because ginny was jk self insert, not hermione
>The genius girl that also turns out to be a 'beautiful swan' in goblet is not a self insert
ok
>Plus you know Hermione was a naggy wife who barely put out.
Hermoine is a self-insert further confirmed.
Except Emma Watson is an annoying sjw cunt so it makes perfect sense that the only one who would tolerate her is a pushover loser like Ron
jokes on you i always hated my sister
Pretty much this.
>Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art
I know it's a pasta but this actually makes a lot of sense. Rowling probably realized that if Spielberg had been directing the series the movies might have become a higher form of art than the books.
this tbqh (to be quite hogwarts)
>Even Harry is different, he's basically a turbodouche in the books
Holy shit this is what I love so much more about the books and why I can barely stand the movies. Movie Harry is a wet fish.
>what THE FUCK was Rowling thinking?
Outside of the box - the forced kind.
Harry would be more likely than Ron, since at least he has the status that women crave. With Voldemort gone for good though, that status would eventually fade and Harry would be in the same boat as Ron. Women date up. They don't like underachieving losers who only get a job because literally all the real aurors are dead. Unless they're super hot.
>Real JK was a single mum
>Self insert JK gets BLACKED
It all adds up...
Rowling is anti semite and a racist, and a homofob- just looks at the tweets it proves she have to change the hate work she made
Rowling wanted to keep the format the same for every book. that means Harry has to stay in school even if it makes no sense, and stay an outsider even if it makes no sense.
That's because book Hermione =/= movie Hermione. Movie Hermoine is attractive af, whereas book Hermione was meant to be that insecure and annoying cute girl with no friends.
>That's because movie Hermione got all of book Ron's good lines
You're God damn right. What a shame, Ron got completely cucked by the end of the movies because Hermione was JK and the director's favourite.
It was basically Harry and Hermione adventures, with Ron as a third wheel.
that made sense given how much women love the movies. I mean you can't ignore your main audience's need for a self-insert.
The screenwriter for the movies was a Harmony fan. Movies also made Ron into a retarded coward. In the books, Ron is the funny one. In the movies, he's the one you laugh at.
you can't keep getting away with this
>dumbledore, Notirious B.I.G has been killed and we need you to look after his son
>say no more famalam
Yeah no doubt, it made sense for them because hermione was everyone's favourite, they couldn't not push her to the front.
But it's a shame for the franchise as a whole.
>Harry became a chav
This makes sense
>Hating your own sister
I bet you're single
Maybe he's simply not into black chicks...
Who the fuck cares, HP is for people that smell
Criticise Rowling all you like for her writing style, but she did plan ahead. Far too much stuff is set up in early books for that not to be the case. Did she make some stuff up as she went? Definitely. Was she making everything up as she went? Definitely not.
Pairing off the two black characters? How quaint. Rowling is such a fake progressive.
That sneaky rand in bottom row, oh wow
>Movie!Harry
kill yourself
Didn't she kiss him everywhere except his mouth lol.
This copypasta gets me all the time. It's Atlas shrugged that really gets to me.
That book is nothing but the objectivist equivalent of Twilight and you know it.
iirc wizards had more of a feared respect for what he represents than him himself, adults know of the prophecy but still see him as just a kid
and his peers as soon as they start to know him better, realize he sucks magic and is in no way a Chad, except for playing his position in wizard soccer really well
>smell good
because only chicks care about that noise
It's right there next to harry potter god damn are fucking blind stop shouting
Well yeah. Because then she made Hermione black and what would have been more woke than making the main character go with a black girl?
IT WAS ALL A DREAM
