films where the protagonist has their ideals and morals questioned? I really love when the MC realizes the futility or stupidity of their core beliefs/ is cured of their naivete
Films where the protagonist has their ideals and morals questioned...
They were questioned alright.
The Square
shes really BTFO'd at the end when Brolin tells her the CIA was just using her to slaughter cartel leaders at the behest of a rival cartel
She's not even stupid or naive, the CIA was corrupt as fuck. Anyone that actually sides with them is a retarded edgelord
she was naive only in a relative sense, we're certainly more naive compared to her at the start of the film
Fury has a scene like this. When they execute the german soldier
Great scene, I really wasn't expecting it to go down like that
i like how the movie do a great job at doing what rian johnson doesnt know how to do, and pervert the expectations.
you have the lady agent and her token black friend and in a normal flick they would go and kick the president of the united states ass because drugs.
here its like brolin saying: bitch... its chaos. we have to control it.
You may think that but I don't believe that's the message of the film. Blunt begins the film as a soldier on the front lines of the war on drugs, believing shes making a difference. The whole reason she joins the task force is to make a bigger impact. Brolin shows her that to do so means doing terrible things. The CIA approaches the problem of the cartels with a utilitarian mindset: a dominant cartel is measurably "better" than several warring ones. Blunts character is previously unaware that this is her government's approach before the events of the film and is therefore naive. Also in my humble opinion, you are a huge faggot for being an idealist
this whole ride was so tense. good movie this
ESL or retarded?
Hmmm, I bet youd like Prisoners, and probably Nocturnal Animals. Maybe The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc too.
Hostiles
No Frank, No!
It's not as great as you think.
It's guys with every advantage shooting fish in a barrel.
I still need to see the sequal
>a dominant cartel is measurably "better" than several warring ones
That's true but ironically, it's the polar opposite of the plan in the second one.
>it's easier to fight your enemy when they're fighting themselves
Basically, they don't know what the fuck they're doing and are just collecting pay cheques regardless of how badly they fuck everything up.
not him but that's why the scene is great
great dubsman film. Really underappreciated and not to faggy about muh indians like I thought it would be
I enjoyed both Prisoners and Nocturnal Animals, and I'll be sure to check out that last one. Thanks user
They're selling how dangerous the transfer is and then the cartel just completely job the ambush.
It isn't an anime fight. The situation is really dangerous but situation isn't sold as some suicide mission.
There's a reason why you wont go anywhere in life.
...L'mask u sum'n, Soldado
>it's easier to fight your enemy when they're fighting themselves
Hence why the sequel was written by infinitely less-intelligent people.
You're exactly one of the retards I was talking about, thanks
>yeah bro *hits blunt*...the fucking CIA is corrupt and shit...you're, like, an edgelord if you side with them in any circumstance dude
Am I being baited? Obviously in the context of the movie, brainlet
if you thought the CIA in the movie was corrupt then you're incredibly naive and probably a teenager or a woman
CIA was working for El Chapo?
The CIA Is corrupt, by the very definition of the fucking word. But you're conflating "corrupt" with "immoral" which is why you're sperging out here.
They are literally, objectively corrupt. It's not like the movie tries to hide that, either. You can try and justify it with some greater good bullshit, but to claim they're not corrupt is just stupid.
Not working for or at the behest of but definitely they were making deals with a cartel.
They probably didn't really care which of them it was.
alright fair but corrupt carries a moral connotation. Plus the user said
> Anyone that actually sides with them is a retarded edgelord
indicating that he believed the CIA to be in the wrong
Remember when /tvpol/ desperately tried to claim that Kate was an SJW character?
>at the behest of a rival cartel
wtf did I miss something?
how has nobody mentioned Training Day? should've been the first reply, i'm disappointed Yea Forums.
Benicio del Toro's character is working for one of the other cartels as a "sicario". The CIA just gets him into position to do his job.
They're brainlets, since sicario is dripping with sexism
>working for one of the other cartels as a "sicario"
Yeah, I guess that's true but he's also clearly a CIA asset.
Not an agent or anything but an asset with a handler, who is obviously sandels-man.
MASG YA SUMM RIGG
Speak for yourself. My family offered me a Cia job 10 years ago and I said fuck no
He's right
Well we don't know yet how the story was originally supposed to play out. I read somewhere that Sollima changed the whole second half of the movie in order to give Alejandro more character development. And after watching three seasons of Gomorrah you can tell he had his hands all over that part.
