hi Yea Forums are there any good Paul Verhoven Documentaries out there ? seems like the man is chronically underrated and personally he means more to me than Kubrick. Thanks
VERHOVEN
thanks fren my favourite has always been the sharon stone screen test
> SMOLDERING
unrelated tangent here but the lady on the left made the sequel to Show Girls
> CASHING YOU BOB
Paul Verhoven happened because Hollywood was drowning in cocaine in the 80's. Until people realize it was an actual drug and it could be dangerous.
yeah i know i always thought it was gina gershon in that pic until recently :) hmmmm gina
who is the lady on the left? premium ass
>Hollywood was drowning in cocaine in the 80's
AND IT WAS KINO
GIVE ME COKEY HOLWOOD ANYDAY OVER CURRENT YEARS PC NPC SHITE
fun verhoven fact: we almost got verhoven / schwarzenegger / crusade kino but he called out a jew executive for being a jew
WHAT THE FUCK I want this movie
didn't happen cause verhoeven couldn't keep his mouth shut and let high IQ business savvy arnold negotiate
digging through the verhoven archives lads and what douglas and schwarzenegger had to say was KINO
@4:56 youtube.com
HE WANTS TO SHOW THE WORLD HOW SICK WHAT A SICK SIGHT THE WORLD HAS
AND HOW VIOLENT WE ARE. AND HE WANTS TO RUB IT INTO PEOPLE
THIS IS WAY WE ARE AND DONT PRETEND TO BE DIFFERENT
Yeah I understood but the whole premise of Verhoeven directing a movie about a crusading knight starring Schwarzenegger is too good to not exist. A shame
most people dont know about crusade
most people dont know arnold did it himself in last action hero
>NOT TO BE
not to be
Verhoeven's dvd commentaries are the best you can hear. He's uniquely honest.
Based thread. I personally rank Verhoeven and Peter Weir as the greatest living directors.
Verhoeven was an incredibly based and redpilled director making movies in bluepilled US, truly a filmmaker we needed but did not deserve
this could have been easily the greatest action film of all time.
even though Schwarz is in T2
Flesh + Blood is so underrated.
based and dutchpilled
G-EYE-na OR G-EEEE-na ?
>asking for a friend
Rena Riffel
Geena like Geena Davis
Is Total Recall the greatest sci-fi actioner or is it Robocop?
Dman, Elizabeth Berkley was hot but Rena Riffel had a delicious ass and kinda showed her butthole in the movie
her stupid bunny bimbo vibe was so fuckable
Verhoeven isn't underrated at all. He's one of the best action director of all time with McTiernan and James Cameron. He and Friedkin invented hyperviolence in cinema.
>tfw you understand showgirls is a brilliant satire but you always thought it was a mess because you watched it as a kid
>thinking that pool scene was supposed to be taken seriously
you type like a fucking retard.
WE NEVER GOT A BARBARELLA REBOOT STARRING JANUARY JONES, OR WONDER WOMAN STARRING PRIME JENNIFER CONNELLY, BOTH DIRCETED BY PAUL VERHOEVEN!!!LIFE IS UTTER ENDLESS SUFFERING JUST DIE IN MY FUCKING SLEEP ALREADY!!!FACT!!!
>Paul Verhoven happened because Hollywood was drowning in cocaine in the 80's.
CEILING CAT BLESS COCAINE!!!FACT!!! youtu.be
Ehh guys... Verhoeven is a rabid leftist weirdo and his work all include overt Jewish tones or anti militarism.
the script (by walon green) is online. it's as close as you'll ever get.
RoboCop is the perfect movie
>He and Friedkin invented hyperviolence in cinema.
who is peckinpah?
WE SHOULD HAVE GOT KING CONAN IN 95 DIRECTED BY VERVOEVEN!!!FACT!!!
Oh no not the poor military
>He and Friedkin invented hyperviolence in cinema.
nah
would have preferred pre-stroke milius desu
>Flesh + Blood is so underrated.
Imagine if Verhoeven had made Conan The Destroyer that year, 1985!!!FACT!!!
>guy who actually met nazis dislikes nazis
what no way
>Rena Riffel
Hottest woman in Showgirls!!!FACT!!!
I should said reinvented. Peckinpah's fetichism for slowdowns kinda wasted the effect.
>I should said reinvented. Peckinpah's fetichism for slowdowns kinda wasted the effect.
100% Correct!!!FACT!!!
guys, watch Black Book. it's a WW2 movie but it's more of a genre movie. action
and Carice van Houten is naked for like half of the movie ;D
Also check out his earlier WW2 film Soldier of Orange.
His first big success, Turkish Delight, is very interesting to watch with the commentary because it's like the Dutch Catcher in the Rye, but supposedly a true story, only in the course of becoming a major film it came out that the author was a fraud.
I miss him so much. Why can't anyone else do subversive movies right.
Last great scene was the protagonist watching the neighbor with the binoculars in Elle. You could almost feel him grinning behind the camera.
I think I will, downloading atm
It The Fourth Man worth watching?
the fourth man is good. so is spetters.
the fourth man looks like something from de palma - i'll check it out
If they made this movie in the 90s, I’d still be marathoning it now.
Watching this made me realise what thrillers are trying to do.
Cameron > Verhoeven > everyone else
That is all
Showgirls 2 is actually a sequel to Mulholland Drive.
Cameron is good, but he's nowhere close to prime Verhoeven.
who cares, he have artistic integrity and make good movies despite his political views. just wait for the new robocop from that south african hack I don't even remember the name and compare it to the original, it will show how verhoeven can make a mock of the american way of life and still do a good movie, the other guy will make a propaganda filled shit flick, like he did with elysium
Cameron's only good movie is Terminator
Cameron lost its ways, Avatar is trash
black book is awesome
This Crusade project was hyped FOR YEARS in Entertainment Weekly, as the most expensive, bloodiest action film ever. Sad.
close to perfect
Verhoeven>Cameron>john carpenter>the rest
Moar Stone photos in this series?
Didnt that movie inspire Berserk?
Thanks for the recommendation
i love these b&w 80’s film shots
great style
I actually watched this film because a synthwave artist used scenes from it for a music video. The movie is strange, but it's a great B tier 80's film
Holy fuck yes. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way
Fucking thank you. I find his movies so tiresome heaps of wasted potential
he is a good director and at the same time, bad. he tries to make fun out of war and violence in robocop and starship troopers, but end up showing how larger than life violence and war are.
put that theme song from robocop and give a gun to the faggiest swede and the guy will become a war machine.
The only two things hes lost is the ability to write memorable dialogue and his sense of time.
> make drunken verhoven thread
> its still up
> agree with everyone ITT
yeah avatar is trash Cameron should of got star wars :(
>put that theme song from robocop
yup Basil Poledouris is based is hell and klendathu drop just give me tingles everytime
>Revisions by G. Goldman.
>Holocaust mentioned on the first page of the script.
Can't make this up.
My cultured nigga
>seems like the man is chronically underrated
He's one of the worst to ever take up the craft. Offered nothing but superficial schlock for pseuds to pat themselves on the back for "getting."
post link plz i need to read it
list someone that can hold a candle to prime verhoven today. i dare you.
Google "Crusade Walon Green script" you lazy shit.
this is my kind of thread. he's my favourite director and I wish he hadn't been blacklisted from hollywood even though the story is kino in itself
