>"But Mr. CIA man, you are my friend!"

The Missing series from the UK jump-started my last depressive episode. The acting, the drama, the casting, pretty much everything is trash, but I watched it high and saw a scene of an elderly couple at a hospital. The man was asleep in a hospital bed and his wife was at his side holding his hand and sobbing. Reminded me of seeing my grandpa die from Alzheimer's when I was young. Now my grandma is far along in dying from the same thing, and it made me think of my parents who are now in their 60s. After I watched that my life was a complete mess for a couple months, worse than it's ever been.

tell your loved ones you love them, especially your grandparents if you still have them. Go talk to them, feeling sad sucks

Synecdoche, New York

Paris, texas. Actually shed a manly tear or 2.

I remember a greek one about a homeless dude who struggles through the entire film and then kills someone or several people at the end. Anonymous, non-descript sort of bleak film.

whoops, first bit of post got cut off. Saddest film you ever saw is one you likely can't even remember because it is so bleak and miserable, like the one I just mentioned.

If it's some emotionally devastating one, the endorphin rushes and highs and lows make it memorable and exciting on some level.

There's only 2 movies that made me sad almost enough to make me show sadness. One was the last samural, the other one I watched when I was a kid and barely remember it. I think it was about several generation of Chinese women, I think there was a scene where they were running from a battle, but later on it was set in modern times, also there was mahjong or something like it.

Do documentaries count?

This popped up in my recommendations just three days after I had to put down my dog of 14 years back in February. God damn I cried hard.

Breaking the Waves and Dogville too

Fuck, I haven’t watch any Lunch kino again in so long. MD is perfect.
Does the new Twin Peaks have similar feels? I haven’t watched that.

Biutiful

The new Twin Peaks is quite cold, but in the few times it does have feels, it really hits you hard.

You should watch season 3, but only if you've seen the original series and Fire Walk With Me first.

trite misery porn

i dont disagree

Iron Man. It was at this point that I realised that cinema was dead and buried forever.

I rewatched Alien a couple years back (as I regularly do, why wouldn't I?) The night after, I watched Aliens. and at the end I cried hard. I've seen Alien 3 before and knowing the un-ceremonious, unfair, bleak off screen deaths of Newt and Hicks wretched my guts. Seeing Ripley embrace and protect Newt after the news that her own daughter's life came and went in the blink of an eye while she was in a coma really got to me. Thinking of Ripley's fate throughout the franchise made me feel miserable as she absolutely can not get a break and deserves none of the galatic misery. Like a greater force requires this normal woman to suffer. She essentially becomes victim of an extraterrestrial haunting, as the xenomorph always manages to find her no matter what corner of the universe she's in. No matter the year or the company she keeps, it all gets shredded by circumstance and an unthinking celestial menance. Not to mention all the corporate hell Weyland Yutani put her through. It got me thinking about how some simply suffer their entire lives, and die.
Fuck she can't even get the sweet release of death as she gets cloned and ressurected in the not-so-subtly titled fourth installment.

Tl;dr - Poor Ripley. She deserved better.

Yo this movie was crazy

Stop with the snowflake answers

When I was a child we rented Princess mononoke on VHS, back then all the "dubs" in my language were shitty 1 person voiceovers. I remember crying so much at the thought that the guy is going to die because of the thing on his arm that I had quit watching it before the end. I've never had a such an emotional response to a movie ever again. Rewatched it recently after years of searching (I remembered very little of it so some anons from wsr helped me find it), didn't understand why I cried so much as a kid.

mr nobody

Don't watch this for the first time if you're over 20, only teenagers can truly appreciate the feels of this movie.

Nah, Ripley is easily one of the most tortured characters in film and putting her arc from film 1 to film 3 in context makes me terribley sad. I guess it's the only fictional character I pity and I find myself hoping she gets peace
What's your answer, Brutus McTestosterone?

It had a happy ending tho

Stop taking drugs user, i had a load of wizz onxe and watched Rocky II and i was a mess for months too.

The Lobster

While I agree with some critics that Malicks movies are sometimes pretentious and the dialogues cheesy and what not, the thin red line hits me so hard everytime I watch it. I don't even know why. Often watch it when I feel, has some catharsis to it.

2 of the best scenes, especially the Hut scene is pure kino

I don't think I'll ever get over this fucking movie. Watership Down at least had a happy ending, this just gets worse and worse and worse and then shows false hope over the end credits, man, fuck.

Either this or Filth for me. Filth hit home a lot but this was just incredibly depressing
