it's only a model

It's actually a real castle they hit with a shrink ray.

what do they eat?

who plowed the roads?

Holy shit, does this mean there’s an HBO shared universe?

Attached: mr-plow.jpg (620x385, 64K)

They could have wrote better scripts too with their budget but they didn't.

They’re coil heated, retard

Probably someone called something like Jhonn Plougher.

whats the population of winterfell supposed to be? seems tiny

That would've required hiring real writers, who are usually too busy writing novels, not stories for normies about incest. Those talented writers who do work in cinema are hard to come by, and they cost a lot, so they'd rather jut hire somebody their buddy from film school knows. Nepotism, and a desire to appeal to the lowest common denominator, has destroyed cinema, I swear.

Where the fuck are the armies that are supposed to be camped around the entire castle

Attached: 1531966091312.jpg (400x300, 55K)

this is fucking awful

I feel like there is an opportunity for a sir twoney goodmen joke here but I’m not clever enough to come up with one.

How many million per episode now? Most of it probably goes to actor salaries and dragon CGI.
Absolutely disgusting

About 400.

Do they need that many towers for some plot reason? Like is one for throwing virgins off and another for throwing sluts off?

How is there no snow on the weirwood tree?

money doesn't buy you IQ though

better now?

Jon Snowplow

Shhh!

its magic, retard

someone that worked there gone to school specifically for
>full scale models used in the film industry with a specific niche in medieval models

and finally put there college work to good use

>take stylized miniature of castle
>make the real castle literally look like it
for fuck's sake D&D

Attached: 1494261723976.jpg (500x502, 188K)

Whoever made that model has never been educated in medieval castle design.

That’s the castle from the intro dumb fuck. incels I swear...

they went to a liberal arts school and were encouraged to ignore a racist history so they can express themselves

They have clearly designed it to maximize tax deductions.

>be castle architect
>tfw had to fuck up tower placements and archer angles just to meet the requirement of 30 wall segments for the largest possible class of deduction while staying within budget

Is this for real? Lords got tax deductions on their castles?

will got top this?

Attached: sons-of-anarchy-jax-teller-death-665x3851.png (665x385, 292K)

Without being an autistic faggot, explain how this is unrealistic

I mean the show is shitty now but IRL "besieging armies" didn't camp out in front of the besieged castle either. It was a dumb as shit thing to do as the people inside could fling shit into your camp and see your movements/musterings

He's not talking about besieging armies.

why would you put a wall around your garden?

think of the scale you bitch Dee my god

you literally see all their tents arrayed outside the castle later in the episode

so why wasn't the wall built straight, it would cost them less wall but give them more castle.

Attached: 1555642755863.jpg (1280x720, 181K)

Nice.

Where do the plebs live? its so smol

It would seem like left part is a later extension. Why wouldn't they have fixed the wall when doing the extension? Who knows. Probably some artists shitty vision of what it should look like. Artists aren't big on rational thinking.

If you incorporate a gods wood you can write the whole thing off as a cathedral, the difference in property tax alone makes up for the extra walls.

>the oldest part of the castle containing the weirwood tree that has been there since before men
yeah, I'm sure that part came after the main castle. you actual retard
choke point

Attached: community day.jpg (750x547, 42K)

Also, All of the wooden roofs should be high pitched for the snow to falls off, not flat.
This castle is so dumb.

>yeah lets build this fort around the tree first and then I guess we can build our actual castle
yeah bro that makes more sense for sure

how many soldiers are they supposed to house again?

>>the oldest part of the castle containing the weirwood tree that has been there since before men
Well shit, then it doesn't make any sense. It's just artists fucking up the design then.

with what?
Westworld?

Whatever they want

Feed

The dragons melted the snow r-tard.

youtube.com/watch?v=bOHvRaNrNSY
How in the fuck is the wierwood tree that big in the model? Look at this clip, the actual tree is towering over the other trees but if you look at the scene where ned is cleaning his sword, the tree looks a lot smaller

Attached: 1508536069571.jpg (626x717, 34K)

This is actually a well thought out fantasy castle from a functional and military perspective.

Yeah, what other shows have a shrink ray in them?

There is literally no way to argue about the relative advantages of fantasy castle design without being autistic about it.

Surely you have some grounds or warrants for this on face outrageous claim, right?

Fuckin trash

>realistic castle
big castles are not "realistic"

>Half the castle for a fucking tree.

What did the Starks mean by this?

How is that not realistic?

If that were a real place and it was shot from that angle with the right lens in that light it would look exactly like that.

The soil under the red line is soft and swampy, bad for wall foundation.

Attached: 1554540443165.jpg (734x734, 76K)

Literally in the first second you can see it towering over the other trees. There's plenty of shit you can trash the show about, but this is stupid.

I swear, some of you faggots are so brainless

the moat would freeze in winter

The Plower's boy

so? they have warm running water in the walls of the castle in the books to keep warmth in winter, plus theirs a moot in the book as well iirc

why the fuck would people who live in a tundra on a hill need a goddamn moat?

season 6 was not that good but otherwise respectable taste

because its cool and has defensive purposes even when frozen over because it would be slippery

So much of this triggers the history autist in me. It's like they just took a bunch of bits they'd seen on real castles and then just jumbled them all together without any idea as to their function or purpose.

>snowland
>flat roof
under proof Starks are the idiot house of Westeros

Best one

>newfags don't understand basic siege defence
The whole wall should ideally be built like that to give less room for siege weapons to attack and increase the surface area for ranged defensive attack

Attached: Untitled.jpg (1280x720, 186K)

It grew over the seasons you dummy

Winterfell's been rebuilt numerous times over thousands of years m8, of course it's gonna look like a jumbled mess

Where the fuck are the tens of thousands of Unsullied, Dothraki (plus all their horses, historically at least three per man) going to be billeted?

Where are the Stark's armies garrisoned? The Starks are supposed to rule an area the side of half of Europe, why do they have a poverty-tier castle you couldn't keep more than a few hundred men in?

Are their armies all expected to camp out in the open like the Sixth Army at Stalingrad for the whole winter?

Attached: 1554245929237.webm (640x800, 2.81M)

>whats the population of winterfell supposed to be? seems tiny

The city, Wintertown is outside the gates.

If they were smart enough for that, they'd have a star fort. But they're not, which is why the opposite side of the castle has low, long, straight and uncrenulated walls which would be easy to assault, making that single kill-box redundant since the enemy will just ignore it.

And weirdly all their fighting platforms are clustered around the kill-box that no sane commander would order his men into, whilst the less defensible walls on the far side are left bare.

Attached: cLWRMkh.jpg (1600x901, 829K)

I guarantee when the dead attack Winterfell they will attack from the front and not the back

Why did they hire Bethesda to design this?

But the north is cold as shit and one one ever tries to take their lands?

checked and based

Plow King in da Norf

obsessing over realism in a land that has somehow developed a feudal system even though winters last literal years.

>The winters are only really bad in the north

i pretended they were your mother

When the dead attack Winterfell, it's mainly going to boil down to who has a dragon left - wins.

Which will be the Night King unless they find some way to stop him using his shoulder mounted anti-aircraft icicle cannon.

Yeah but the Starks weren't jews.

Whats Winterfells tax policy?

>what was Aragorn's policy on dealing with coin clippers?

>hey look hahaha I made the same joke everyone else makes hahahaha
It amazes me how unoriginal people choose to be on the Internet.

>being this new

Nah, I just like to point out that you are all huge faggots from time to time.

Yeah about a hundred miles thataway

But user, the biggest faggot of all is YOU!

Yeah with those buildings it looks like a Middle Eastern castle
Why they took inspiration from that and not a castle from a country that actually sees heavy snowfalls is anyone’s guess
Mine is that they wanted it to look “exotic”

>a hundred miles from their capital
What a useful castle.

For the record, I stand with this guy.

Hahaha tax policy haha based cringe redpilled sneed haha see guys I like memes too hahaha I'm just like you hahahaha

Sons of Anarchy is terrible. GoT has only been terrible for the last three seasons.

seething

Armour the underside of the dragons.

Just make them walk on the ground, duh. Fucking morons.

Good idea tbf
Just tell the dragons to hide behind the walls and pop their heads over every now and then to roast niggas

Just make them fly upside down

What with?

I mean, his javelin punched straight through that dragon's armoured hide and with enough force to do catastrophic damage to it's abdominal cavity, from about 100m away.

Armour them with more javelins

Smart.

Attached: Churchill_Crocodile.jpg (456x640, 52K)

I mean yeah absolutely, that is without question an unfortunate fact of television and film these days.

Build a tank manned by two dragons

And pay for it with tax money!! Hahah get it guys?

S1 is great, but let's not kid ourselves and think that winterfell was better designed back then either

they can just put it back to wumbo

>only two things are certain in this life, maester, dragons and taxes
BRAVO DABID

Widfyre ERA

How would it detect an incoming projectile?

test

The javelin hitting it would generate a spark hot enough to ignite the wildfyre and melt the javelin, or at least soften it enough to be non fatal

>detect
I don't think you understand how explosive reactive armour works...

Nice.

Just strap the horseniggers to it as armor

ERA doesn’t work against kinetic energy

Install some sort of highly sloped, depleted uranium-based glacis plate onto the dragons then?

It has to detonate somehow. Also, instead of a shot dragon you would have a burned dragon.

I mean, it won't burn, but it will probably die in the following Wildfyre explosion.

Not going to lie I was pretty hooked up until Clay died.

What's the story with the red tree? Do Northerners worship it or something?

make them valyrian steel and we have a deal
i’ll give you one million for a 13% stake

A model?

Attached: mdl.png (279x316, 168K)

part of the old gods or something. the mother, the farmer, ect are the new gods. idk what im talking about

Aren't dragons utterly immune to fire like Daenerys is?

Save the treeleader, save the world

Star forts were designed for gunpowder warfare

congrats, faggot.
you just put more thought into it than anyone in production combined.

Attached: flat,1000x1000,075,f.u2.jpg (1000x644, 60K)

True, but their layout was designed principally to optimise fields of fire for defenders, eliminate dead zones that could shelter assaulting troops and be almost impossible to capture with a single storming. They weren't developed until guns were the principle weapon of modern armies sure but with the exception of the sloped glacis of the outer fort and the relatively low walls, none of it is specifically related to gunpowder as a weapon.

Just copy the same layout with a conventional curtain wall instead of the glacis and boost the height of the inner concentric walls so they can fire down on the outer walls and you've got an optimised castle design even if your troops are equipped with crossbows, being shot at with trebuchets rather than cannon.

I bet a hundred bucks that you don't even know what a middle eastern castle looks like, you dumb american nigger

Holy fuck is everyone in this thread brainless or american? Most medieval castles in europe are half the size of this

To add on i agree that the design is retarded, but anyone complaining about scale doesn't know what they're talking about

I like that. You can go relax in the forest without having to venture outside of the walls. It's comfy.

Attached: comfy frog.jpg (253x229, 48K)

Why would they not clear out the small patch of forest?
Its blocking LOS.

Tl;dr
>it's the jews

>there are shrunken women in that castle
Imagine if you stormed the castle as a giant and molested/assaulted all the tiny chicks in it hahha not serious but just saying lololol

glad I'm not the only one who thought it looked terrible

This ending was great up until the horrible cgi truck

How do they keep the roads leading out so nicely plowed

>random pine trees in the back

There was no truck in the last episode.

underrated

Mr Deliaaard! I have gone peculiar again!

BASED

Second generation onwards does.

Why don't they lob wildfire bombs at the white walkers?

I bet the author originally in the book meant they had a royal garden like 1/10 of the castle in size but still big compared to normal farm house yard, with small lake and all, and it was a little place Staks treated as sacred

then came the retarded tv staff making the freaking garden the size of the whole castle, lol

they literally just took the exaggerated mini icon on map from into the real world without any real designing

Attached: Paris_Tuileries_Garden_Facepalm_statue.jpg (1024x683, 102K)

It´s the model from the opening but with different textures.

didn't you see the soldiers all outside the castle in tents, or hear Sansa whining about how they don't have enough supplies for everyone?

Attached: anterfell.jpg (1280x720, 118K)

>Snowy northern region
>Roofs distinctively low-pitched

This castle is not very realistic in terms of design.
Let me explain something, in places with lots of snow, you never build flat roofs. You build tall edged roofs so that snow will slide off rather than building up ontop of it and then cause the roof to crash down on them.

But other than that, I do really love the castle.
