Sobel returned to the United States in 1945,[7] and was honorably discharged from the Army on 18 March 1946. He worked as an accountant before being recalled to active duty during the Korean War.[8] He remained in the Army National Guard, eventually retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. He later married, and had three children.[9]
In 1970, Sobel attempted suicide when he shot himself in the head with a small-caliber pistol.[10] The bullet entered his left temple, passed behind his eyes, and exited out the other side of his head. This severed his optic nerves and left him blind.[10] He entered a VA assisted living facility in Waukegan, Illinois. He resided there for his last seventeen years until his death due to malnutrition on 30 September 1987.[10][11] No services were held for him after his death.[10]

Just got done rewatching BoB, and honestly, it is a slow, dull slog. I'm convinced the show's entire purpose was just to build up to the concentration camp episode, in which we spend 30 minutes looking at emaciated jews and dead bodies while sad music plays in the background. The few actually combat scenes in the series are completely uninteresting, and not in the slightest bit intense. Saving Private Ryan laid out a fucking roadmap for how to shoot engaging combat scenes and Band of Brothers just ignored all of it.
6/10 show only because the characters are likeable.
