kino

It was ok, should have been a lot funnier

they hate Stalin because he purged them and mostly excommunicated them from Russia

Slapstick

Ultra-dark Ending

It's good British """"humour""""

Absolute kino and surprisingly historically accurate

I liked it. My dad didn't like it because he's a crypto-commie.

Clever film

Soviekino.

Great film

Very enjoyable. Lots of great comedic performances in the smaller roles as well as from the main players. Pic related

Honestly towards the ending it felt underwhelming, but better than most movies I've seen recently

>You are also accused of 347 counts of rape

Great comedy that perfectly capture the horror & absurdity of the authoritarian Soviet regime.

I really enjoyed it but thought it would be funnier

Not funny, save for the bits with Isaacs and the line about plotting and running

t. somebody from an actual post-communist country

nice to see based michael palin again.

>Molotov wasn't the Foreign Minister in 1953, it was Andrei Vyshinsky. Molotov was Deputy Premier

>Malenkov wasn't "Stalin's deputy", he was also a deputy premier. The position of 2nd secretary was vacant since Andrei Zhdanov's death. Moreover Malenkov wasn't weak about Beria as portrayed in the movie, he pressed the button without any issues

>Beria was not head of the NKVD in 1953, nor did the NKVD even exist in 1953. It was split between the MVD (headed by Sergei Kruglov, a Beria rival) and MGB (headed by Semyon Ignatyev, another Beria rival).

>Zhukov was not head of the soviet army in 1953. The defense minister was Bulganin and the chief of staff was Vasily Sokolovsky. Zhukov at the time was the chief of the minor Ural Military district because Stalin hated his popularity

>The movie condenses many months into a few days. Beria was not disposed of during Stalin's funeral, he attended and gave a speech. He was removed many months later, and the politburo used the East German Uprising (not the deaths of funeral goers) against him

>There were no mass executions of staff at Stalin's dacha of Kuntsevo in the aftermath of his death. The only state employees who died during the whole affair were Beria & his minions

>No Politburo member or even Zhukov were present at the time of Beria's executions, they were hundreds of kilometers away
>Absence of several prominent Politburo members like Andreyev and Voroshilov

>Brezhnev smirking at Khruschev at the end was dumb, he had no aspirations for power in 1953 and even in 1964 was essentially pushed into it by the likes of Mikhail Suslov and KGB head Vladimir Semichastny

>t. somebody from an actual post-communist country
I cant think of a single slav comedy.

BLEAK AS HELL

HOW THEY DID BERIA

IANNUCCI HAS NEVER BEEN SO MEAN

There is plenty although the golden age is long gone. This allegedly had some success. But I guess westies can't into subtitles.

Jason Isaacs' Zhukov really steals the show when he shows up. Best part of the movie.

did you mistake the movie for a documentary

I've tried to get through it twice. It's a boring mess. Even if you have knowledge on the soviet union post ww2 it's a slog. It feels rushed and lazy

>motion passssssed
>.........
>unanimously

i liked it :)

It's really not great. Phenomenally overrated by pseuds. When I saw it there was a middle aged bourgie woman conspicuously laughing as loud as possible and looking around, making sure everyone knew she "got it"

I should have been the perfect viewer, I love all his other movies and I have a degree in Soviet history and Cold War IR. But it just wasn't funny. Big disappointment

It's kind of funny to watch communists get butthurt and bitch about a movies accuracy when the tables are turned

The Beria trial gets me everytime
>You are accused of using your position as minister of the interior to plot against the soviet union with the goal of forwarding the interest of foreign powers.
>FOREIGN POWERS? FROM THE FUCKING MOON?

Attached: Kek.gif (400x250, 529K)

that fucking scene when they all scream SVETLANA and try to run to her first was so fucking funny to me as well

>I have a degree in Soviet history and Cold War IR
This might be the reason why you don't find it funny. To you, it's just a slightly exaggerated version and ahistorical version of those events.

Have sex

i dont get why the russians were offended. yes its full of innacuraries like malenkov being w bush and beria being Cheney

who gives a shit if the russkies were offended lmao

he mogged the whole of germany irl
