In order to make a movie that lives up to such ideals you need to have find something that can resonate with someone living in an urban poor life. Not all these neighbourhoods are ghettos and filled with crime but for most american blacks this is the reality they have to face day to day. You think a typically poor black kid can even begin to sympathize with the cosbys? The black culture's worship of gangsters, drug dealers, rappers and basketball players is because this is wish fulfillment. Get rich quick to get the fuck out of the ghetto. Because very few believe they have much social mobility (whether true or not).

You need to have it rooted in an environment where the people clearly aren't rich if not in poverty yet I would suggest trying to humanize their day to day struggles with the little successes they manage to carve.

Is that culture or is that socioeconomics? Be careful how you answer: If socioeconomics and culture are inseparable then so are race and culture.

I'm just going to drop the bomb and say it: All culture, society, architecture, and even ideologies are the direct result of genetics. Trust me I know all about it. I'm a native Ohioan and this state was home to many industrialists who were very receptive toward black workers when others weren't. Blacks who lived as slaves were happy to take the factory work, especially when their employer furnished them homes that had amenities they otherwise would not have had access to. Drugs, media pandering, political shitlery, and anti-white sentiment ultimately brought us where we are today.
