Rogue One

So I just watched it again out of desperation.
I kinda liked it back then, but now I think it's a masterpiece. Just because it's so much better than both Force Awaken, and the Last Jedi.
I especially enjoyed the bad guy.

Yes.

Yes. Rogue One is the best Star Wars film.

Yes. it’s better than it should have been.

It feels the most 'star-warsy' out of the newer films.

And holy hell, the cinematography is leagues beyond the others. Your Director Krennic pic is a good example.

I wish Gareth Edwards was able to stick to his vision without KK getting Tony Gilroy to ghost direct by committee. She's a phantom menace, if you will.

I just realized I have only watched TFA more than once out of all of nuwars.

I just realized I have only seen the "no female version" of TLJ

Yes I have to admit i like it more than i dislike it
though it has its problmes fior example:
why the fuck is the empire using discount at-ats on scarif as cargo vehilces? its dumb as shit.
And why not introduce some OC for cargo shutttles? no lets make it lambda/sentinel class but add more folding "wings"
but they did design some very nice and fitting vehicles :u wing, tie striker even krennick shuttle wasxnt that bad and honeslty i think they shouyldve kept thos edesings for the mainstory movies and replace this dumb upsilon shuttle kylo uses and give empire something diffreent than a stock tie ln but its repainted bullshit I FUCKING HATE DISNEY SO GODDMAN NM MUCH
thansk for readign my blog share like adn commment im gonna fuycmihng kms now

>Does Yea Forums feel the same?
He's finally in charge. What's not to like?

Knew it when I saw it, although the robot was lame and the climax lamer. Lots of missed opportunity in the 2nd to third act.

I thought it was just alright when it first came out, but after watching again a few months ago, I actually really like it.
It’s the only Disney-shit that actually even remotely feels like something that Lucas would make.

I love men-on-a-mission flicks where everyone dies.

You all just lying to yourselves because you had a nerdgasm when Darth Spoder went ape at the end. It was a really shitty movie, I'll concede it felt more like the most like old star wars than TFA or TLJ but damn it was a really poor ass movie with paper thin characters

Rogue One was unnecessary and did have several problems like the CGI Tarkin and the boring lead characters. However, I still think it's the best Star Wars movie since ROTJ.

But the main character who was also a woman died so as a proud incel I have to give it a 10/10

I like it, it was a perfectly serviceable spin off aimed at well adjusted fans of Star Wars.
It deserves praise for its handling of a female action protagonist. I genuinely enjoyed all of the cast. Vader's scene in the end was just the right amount of fan service, however the lava castle bit was unnecessary.
The RLM guys were unreasonably aggressive towards it imho. No I don't remember the names of the heroes but I remember them as characters and for what they did in the story. For what it's worth, I don't remember the names of the crew in Saving Private Ryan after multiple viewings but they are still perfectly serviceable characters.

The rest of Disney Wars can go rot in a sewer for all i care.

Yes, I fucking love this movie.

You should read BRPD then.

I was never a huge RLM fan but that really pissed me off. I am glad they got some backlash for that.

>bad guy
He's just a middle management wagecuck trying to do his damn job and not get forcechoked. Even tried to give his friend a leg up at a better job. How is he the bad guy?

Yeah aside from the fact
>every character except Jyn, Krennic and her dad is a one dimensional cardboard cutout I can barely remember the faces of, much less names, much less arcs
>the ending totally fucks up the continuity of New Hope (why is Leia even trying to lie about being diplomats if they followed them straight from the tropic planet) (also it undermines Tarkin and Luke as characters, Tarkin’s much more interesting if he had hubris to think “no one could hit” that exhaust, and Luke is so in tune with the force he can hit a mundane exhaust that shouldn’t be tactically relevant. Oh but it’s better if some designer put a literal video game weak point on it)
>Forrest Whittaker is an idiot who is completely pointless to the story and easily could have got on the ship
>it’s Vader “so ebin” porn
>in general it’s basically just a fan film that gets the aesthetic trappings right to an autistic level but forgets about things like story and characters
>I had to look at zombie Peter Cushing
>the reshoots and retooling of the story from the ideas in the first trailer are very obvious
>the rain planet just looks like muddy blue CGI shit

Aside from all that, yeah, masterpiece

It's a good movie but far from masterpiece. There are way too many flaws in the plot.

the bloody GARRISON

What's Upham?

And Mandalorian will be better only the sequels sucks Rogue One and Solo are ok

It wasn't a supremely good Star Wars film, but it was a good film. It was competently shot, it had plot and structure, there was some semblance of a character arc, and the material was handled appropriately by a mature director. Ie: Everything NuWars is not and does not have.

Had they kept the cast down to the girl, the Spanish guy, and the robot, it would unironically be the best Star Wars movie since Return.

Krennic is unironically based as fuck.

It will be slightly better than NuWars movies but will still be janky as fuck. They'll try to make it a space Western just like Firefly, with quips quips quips. Wait and see.

Rogue One had fucking military operators run the raid scene on the imperial crawler. Are we ever going to see something that hardcock in any future property?
>no

>Rogue One had fucking military operators run the raid scene on the imperial crawler.
Wait, seriously? That's awesome

I wasn't impressed by the footage they released. in fact it looked like shit.

It's the best post-Jedi Star Wars movie.

Genuine taste: Someone who likes the prequels.
Contrarian taste on this board: Liking the prequels and especially this movie after how awful Last Jedi was.

I've liked the prequels since they came out and this movie since it came out.

It's not pefect but there's a lot to like.

Attached: 04f1a949110791.58ab8168b5987.jpg (1400x1980, 3.38M)

No, it's fucking garbage and easily the worst of the new star wars movies. You want to talk about hyperspace rams upsetting the canon of the setting? Well what about the advanced robot with precognitive combat skills? Why didn't the empire make more of those?

>mfw Yea Forums hated this movie when it came out and loved TFA

Attached: poke.jpg (476x488, 34K)

Han solo woulda been better if he wasn't a trash digger and he didnt get cucked by that ginger mulatto girl 3/4 of the way through the film

What are you talking about?

K2 wasn't an advanced combat robot, he was a protocol droid who had been stolen and then heavily modified as a one off job. And the empire didn't do more of that because they just recently fought a huge war against a droid based army where the various and many flaws of droid armies were shown, as well as the potential danger or relying on droid armies, IE droids can be hacked, re-programmed, EMP'd en masse, cut off from control and rendered virtually useless. A down-low combat droid works as a concept, an army of combat droids is a mess of tactical and strategic vulnerabilities.

He's not a protocol droid, he's a security droid. His job is to beat fools up.

But what about the Bothams situation?

Attached: alien6[1].png (656x279, 247K)

You guys actually liked this trash film? Christ, just when you think this site couldn't sink any lower.

It is not a trash film; the last half hour is fantastic, the rest is at least cinematographically and visually impressive.

Attached: 1511988195392.jpg (1200x800, 85K)

I liked it because it was Star Wars with completely different people and a decent side story to the main canon.

>WATCH IT, KRENNIC

>Be careful not to choke on your tax audits, Director

If you can't remember the names of Saving Private Ryan characters, you are a retard with a terrible memory. Half the movie they're yelling or screaming each other's names, or pointing them out in very emotional or important scenes.

Wade, Caparzo, Jackson, Upham, Mellish, Miller, Ryan, very fucking easy to remember.

Rogue One I'm not even sure if they fucking say some of the "characters" names more than once. I remember gun man and blind force monk, then morally gray beaner and cheeky robot. That's all of them, right? Other than Jurn Ursur who's of course better and smarter than all the men and can knock armed stormtroopers out with a stick?

Be careful not to tax your audits, Director.

Good post.

The real question is why were his guards absolute trash?

Oh man Jurn Urrsrrurr is so badass. She straight up owned those rebel troopers that had just rescued her. I love how strong women are that they can punch trained soldiers in the face and knock them out in one punch, then swing a shovel at 3 other armed soldiers and beat them all down.
It's so realistic. Why are women so fucking bad ass? Last weekend I was at this lesbian bar called "the Bloody Stool" and one of the lesbians decided to go down to a neighboring bar and beat the fuck out of six big buff guys that trained in MMA. She punched them all in the face and sent them flying!

I fucking LOVE Star Wars!

>Landscapes, fog, color filters, and several shots stolen directly from OT movies

Alright alright don’t hurt yourself kiddo, lmao

I also remember thinking it was good but not great when it came out, looking back on it now though after TLJ and SOLO (which i haven't seen yet because they didn't cast that harrison ford lookalike) it was a masterpiece in comparison.

I remember after watching Rogue One thinking Disney owning star wars wasn't a bad thing and they were doing good with it, say what you want about episode 7 it was still a good movie despite the fact it took too much from a new hope. Now it seems like they've completely killed Star Wars by giving the reins to Brainlet Rian Cuckson

Attached: 1555372183938.jpg (4672x2232, 905K)

Something they could have done a lot more with if the Negro Feminist wing of Lucasfilm hadn't been installed by Kathleen Kennedy.

It sure as shit was better than 7 or 8. But pretty easy to do when you use the good star wars setting before it got fucked up.

It's by far the best of the new ones and I'd personally say better than all the PT. It's got the best cinematography any SW film too.

If Krennic had just told his soldiers to stun, he would have had Lyra as a hostage and Galen wouldn't have betrayed him.

Get some taste you faggot

God damn that is the best looking Star Wars film

rogue one and solo were way better than force awakens. my personal opinion is that it fleshed out the star wars universe in those movies

>Darth Vader clasps his fingers inwards and makes like he is going to do a huge brraap

Don't worry. Sheev will save Star Wars. Have faith in the force anons.

He has been the only "bad guys" leader in all the Star Wars films that actually came across like an actual leader. Especially compared to the SNL Nazi skit troupe in TFA and TLJ

Of the Disney Wars, I've only see TFA and Rogue One.

TFA is a mediocre movie and a bad star wars film. Rogue One is a decent movie and a good star wars film.

Never give benefit of the doubt to Jar Jar Abrams. I have shat on all Disney Star Wars movies. Now that past has let go and killed because they absolutely had to. Rogue One is mediocre, but entertaining movie. Compared to rest of Disney Wars it looks like a masterpiece.

Krennick was misused.
He should have been a Tarkin loyalist instead of a rival.

The rebel assault on Scarif does more for me than Vader so fuck off.

It was and still is fucking insanity.

If Solo had been directed and produced in the manner as Rogue One we'd at least have one 8/10 Nu-Wars film.

I will admit Mads getting ganked by the Rebel bombing was a solid plot element and felt very in-line with the feel of the film that had been advertised. The Imperials executing their own engineering team ruined that scene as a whole.

Vader swinging his saber in the same manner as he did before cyborg conversion was laughable and ruined the more grounded tone.

Overall 9/10 direction and cinematography. 5/10 story.

>that scene that looked like a star destroyer in front of a starfield

This guy is a terrible actor and makes for a ridiculous villan. Rouge One is better than TFA and TLJ but it is still a pretty shit movie.

As far as nu-Wars goes:
R1>Solo>TFA>TLJ

The entire series
ESB>ANH>RotJ>RotS>R1>Solo>TPM>TFA>AotC>TLJ

I accepted it because he's shown to be everyone's bitch.

Attached: thumbs-762927250.jpg (1020x742, 131K)

>why is Leia even trying to lie about being diplomats if they followed them straight from the tropic planet)
Very simple: You'll notice at the end of R1, Leia's ship goes into hyperspace. Since they couldn't track ships in hyperspace until TLJ, you can assume Vader could have been tracking them for weeks. Nothing in the continuity tell you he catches up to her within minutes.

Krennic was easily the best part of the movie. I wish he existed in the old canon in some capacity.

Attached: 1513471055213.png (942x805, 952K)

reminder that we spent the entire before the movie came out dealing the faggots whining about le gril protagonist and nobody could just enjoy the movie. It takes goddamn years before the polcels stop being belligerent niggers and people can actually appreciate things for what they are.

Attached: felicity sweater frazzle.jpg (712x1222, 177K)

I never really thought about it until now, but is it ever explained why they don't just hyperspace directly to Alderaan, and are above Tatooine at the beginning of ANH?

I thought it was better than Force Awakens and the Last Jedi as well.

The female lead was somewhat likable.

They released a fake-out trailer that included the line "This is a rebellion isn't it? I rebel."

I want to fill her belly up with eggs for easter

The rabbit and the Mexican were the only ones who needed character development, the rest of the crew just bogged things down with forgettable brown characters. Whitaker clearly gave no fucks at all and went full retard with it.

It's my favorite out of the Disney movies.

Well presumably Leia wanted to get Obi-Wan herself.

It was, and remains, the very best Star Wars prequel ever made.
Very touching, and poignant final scene with Jyn and Cassian.
OMG muh feels.

The original ending shot with them all dying on the beach must have tested horribly.

How does Gareth do it, how does he make things look so massive? It's so hard to pinpoint, and yet he had a skill of making the massive scale objects look menacingly massive.

Any more details on the original ending?

It's nostalgia porn for over-obsessed Star Wars fans to a far greater degree than either of the new entries in the main saga.

It's garbage.

youtube.com/watch?v=xGzCGRKEPKQ

No, you're garbage.

Yes. The last space battle is pure kino

Rogue one was mediocre and the fact that other Disney Wars were complete shitfests doesn't make it any better any more than Disney Wars make the prequels better

It's easily the best star wars movie that came out from disney
Also Darth Vader scene was pure kino

This and Solo are the only SW movies I enjoyed, Solo was much worse though.

The shoretroopers were the real neat design from Rogue One.

basically this.

Eh, they were nice but low effort

I'm not sure I want to watch those, because I already like the movie as it is.

>Tarkin’s much more interesting if he had hubris to think “no one could hit” that exhaust, and Luke is so in tune with the force he can hit a mundane exhaust that shouldn’t be tactically relevant. Oh but it’s better if some designer put a literal video game weak point on it)
I don't see that. Remember, Tarkin usurped control of the death star after Crennic had proved it was not only functional, but Crennic had most of the scientists fucking shot and killed, then the Rebels came in and finished the job killing the elder Irso. Tarkin likely had zero idea about any weakness and it wasn't until the nerds analyzed the attacks from the Rebels during the Yavin IV battle that they deduced there was a chance that attacking a pinpoint hole would at least disable it. His hubris remains in tact when he calls it "our moment of victory". As for Luke I feel the Rebels HAD to have figured out a weak point some how, the only thing that changes is now we know where the Rebels got that information from.

Everything else I agree with. I would love to see what Gareth came up with for Saw Guerrera because he had a couple of major arcs in Clone Wars cartoon and was suggested by Filoni to use.

>Red armband
Nice and subtle. Aside from that it looks great

The shape of the armor was changed too.

At least the space/fighter combat is top notch, for the series at least. Nothing like the mary sue shit Poe pulls in TFA

>death troopers

youtu.be/sCVWm20fU0A

You can't just hyperspace where ever you want in star wars. They are hyperspace lanes you must follow unless you want to fly though a planet, star or asteroid.

Yes

Basically in regards to the ending it, from some photos and mostly various shots from trailers, it looks like most everyone is alive by the time they get the plans, a chase across the beach ensues which is probably how most everyone but Jyn dies, then Jyn likely dies shortly after the plans are transmitted. And it seems like instead of just nuking the planet with the Death Star, any remaining Rebels on the planet were taken out by troopers or vehicles.

So as it is, the movie gives the characters a little more time to shine, fulfill their purposes, and linger a bit on their deaths as each goes down one-by-one; but the potential original ending might've shown the full force of the Imperial might and just quickly dispatched of characters. Later makes more sense from showing lore that's been built up and showing the horrors of war, former makes more sense for a movie and more importantly Star Wars where you're supposed to root for and love these heroes who tend to stand out a bit.

>Luke is so in tune with the force he can hit a mundane exhaust that shouldn’t be tactically relevant. Oh but it’s better if some designer put a literal video game weak point on it)
The rebellion had the death star plans and told Luke to hit that exhaust in episode IV.

LALALALALALA I CAN'T HERE YOU PREQUEL FAG!

Rogue One is unironically up with ROTJ in my personal rankings. It's the only Disney movie I've unironically enjoyed

Also a heist movie-Vietnam movie hybrid instead of the usual martial arts movie-WW2 movie hybrid was nice.

The real kino is comparing those to the fighters Anakin and Obi-Wan were flying in Revenge of the Sith. Natural and sensible evolution of the design/tech. Rogue One was clearly made by people who actually were fans of the originals without Disney ass-fucking it too severely.

>I get my opinions from le plinkett man

It's actually one of the more creative entries in the series, in terms of structure

AT-STs! AT-ATs! AT-STs! AT-ATs! I remember the Death Star! I remember the Emperor!

That's pretty fair, the only reason rotj is rated as better overall is because it serves as an orgasmic release to IV and V, as it's own movie rogue one is about the same or even better

presumably Jyn Erso's dad made it easy enough for someone to hit if this was his plan to overthrow the Empire (or whatever)

The point is not that Luke was told that it was important, the point is that there's a distinct difference in how impressive it is to do this if it was either an unintentional flaw or a flaw they attempted to paper mache over by putting a fuckton of guns in front of it, versus the engineer putting a big target he intentionally wanted to put people to shoot at.

What's more impressive? Knocking someone out who has a glass jaw or some other unobtrusive flaw that is an accident of their constitution, or knocking someone out who has a big glowing button which says "I WAS PUT HERE TO KILL THE BAD GUY. PRESS THIS" (hypothetically, of course)

>le plinkett man!

It's set during the theft of the Death Star plans, you absolutely ironic retard -- there has to be the Death Star and the Emperor and all that

However, in reality it's the first SW movie that was anything other than a hybrid of martial arts movie and WW2 fighter pilot movie. Instead it's a heist movie coupled with a grim Vietnam movie, and it actually succeeded at that. The temptation must've been strong to put some Jedi refugee as the main character who gets killed by Vader at the end and I'm glad they resisted it

Not a masterpiece but it was good. If it was about something else it would be my favorite Star Wars movie.

It's not quite ESB but it's not far behind.

You mean Revenge of the Sith.

I liked Solo.

I was so glad only one lightsaber was in this and that it was used to violently murder people, the oversaturation of light sabers and the force just ruins everything

rogue one isn't even a good movie. in fact you can tell if someone's a fucking brainlet mongoloid if they spout off that it is.

>doesn’t have the cool af shot of the star destroyer above Jedha
You fuckin bum

The cinematography was great.
The art direction was solid.
Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk gave commendable performances.
Aside from that, I hated it.

It seemed like it suffered from heavy studio interference. The story made little sense. The score was, at best, phoned in. The characters, with few exceptions, were boring or unlikeable. There was the weird uncanny valley nonsense. The movie contradicts ANH. Fan service was shoehorned into places where it made little-to-no sense. It made the Rebel Alliance look like a bunch of indecisive, spineless cunts.

Shut up, faggot.

Peak trooper design.

Attached: death-trooper_star-wars_feature.jpg (990x600, 113K)

Yeah the worst thing about it was trying to make the rebels simultaneously goody two shoes SJWs and brutal cutthroats. They were trying to serve too many masters in the feminist demands of the story group and it killed the movie.

They have a nearly Samurai aesthetic that almost eclipses Vader.

RLM (okay, really it was Mike) felt like they sucked the mouse's cock too hard with TFA and decided to completely shit on Rogue One to compensate. If it had come after TLJ they would have considered it Shakespeare but as it is they were completely reactionary to the movie.

Right. I think there was probably a genuinely good idea in the beginning and it was undercut by shit like that and other filmmaking by committee demands throughout the production.

It makes absolutely no goddamn sense that Jyn just accepts the Rebel commanders killing Galen and jumps at the chance to be heroic for their loser faggot asses when they suddenly get cold feet about attacking another Imperial base.

He did the same thing with Godzilla. He's good at conveying scale.

this is what i wanted episode 7 to be, way back when they first announced it.
just nails the aesthetic

love those tie fighters

The Darth Vader scene is legitimately my least favorite scene in the film.

It shows how retarded most of Yea Forums are that they liked TFA and hated R1. Only when TLJ came out was that people reconsidered this.

Yes you, YOU reading this right now. YOU ARE A MASSIVE RETARD. Look how mad you are little faggot.

Anyway 3rd-ish best star wars film. Excellent and underrated.

Yeah. None of that made a lick of sense.

They lost too much of her original, worse, character in reshoots and had nowhere to go without compromising orders from above.

That's funny because it was the opposite for me. When I first watched it, I enjoyed it and thought it was the first proper Star Wars movie in years. But in retrospect, it was just unnecessary filler filled with blatant nostalgia fanservice. First watch was enjoyable, but I wouldn't even consider rewatching it. Can't believe I thought the "choke on your aspiration" line was cool. God I was dumb.

Tldr lol

Mmmm. So pretty.

just because the rest of the disney ones are awful doesnt make this one good, it's still terrible

I always liked it.

It felt like one of those legit EU sidestories from way back where you got stock SW EU characters doing some caper with all the classic SW elements.

The only really weak point is due to Jyn not having a strong conviction in her actions. Basically the sense of agency is deferred to her father, who is the one driving her character through his actions.
It would be a far better arc if the identity of her father is revealed in the second act as an evil imperial scientist in charge of the Death Star and then a further reveal in the third act is that he was good all along. That way the primary motivation would be a (very human and identifiable) trait to rebel against her father. That could give her the edge needed to drive the plot. Later on of course you can have her reconcile and develop further as it turns out he was faking being evil.

The rest of the cast similarly has odd and muted character development.
The imperial pilot (Riz) decided to be good ... just because. Then he gets brain zapped and just ... spaces out for the rest of the movie.
The two azn guys tag along because reasons.
The rebel commando guy just conveys anxiety and little else.

All of them basically needed to be more extreme to make them more engaging.

Faster, and more intense.

No one talks about the horrible fucking music in this movie.

They take John Williams masterful score then alter a note to be a different key and it just sounds so fucking awful. It's like a knock off Williams and it sounds like shit. It's so fucking jarring it completely ruins entire scenes for me.

These standalone movies is what SW should have been since the acquisition of Lucasfilms, new trilogy was a mistake.

Ironically if they'd made Jyn more like the Princess from Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress the movie would've been much better.

Indeed. They fucked the pacing in this movie up bad.

He did the same thing in Jurassic World and I wish they would stop hiring him for it.

>they’re gonna be in the Mandalorian as well
Incredibly based

His Planet of the Apes scores are great though.

>it was a perfectly serviceable spin off

Exactly. It was nothing else, I can't even remember the characters names.

>It deserves praise for its handling of a female action protagonist.

Lmao. A stoic character that doesn't have any personality isn't a good character.

I legit only remember Upham because his name is said by far the most and I have hearing damage and can't discern the names over the gunfire. Also I'm not retarded and remember the characters for their stereotypes/actors that portrayed them like everyone else.

>stoic
Why does everyone use that word to describe characters that aren't outgoing or quipmachines? And the person you're replying to means that it didn't force girlpower themes down the audiences throat or do the dumb shit action movies have been doing lately with having females jump on men, contort themselves into a pretzel, and then magically be able to fling someone twice their bodyweight across the room and knock them unconscious.

It's not a masterpiece. The kung fu and tough women nearly ruins it. But it wasn't bad. The Force Awakens is the only other nu-wars I've watched and it was comparatively extremely bad and insulting.

The movie should start with Jyn and her mother running from Krennic and his goons with no explanation for why Galen goes with him, then we pick up with the rebels busting her out of the prison colony. The way it's written now there's no tension.

>waaaah daddy Vader, Tarkin is being mean to meeeee

>fuck off

>:(

>kung fu ruining anything
Are you homosex?

>I especially enjoyed the bad guy.
Shouty Muh Deathstar Man? No, I didn't like him. Especially when he let himself be distracted by Jyn into a stupid villainous monologue until Mexican MC could materialize behind him out of nowhere and shoot him. Felt really Disneyfied. He was an impotent insecure version of Hans Landa. And then he for noscope vaporized by an undead version of Tarkin. Peak uselessness.

that scene where the death star fires on Jedha was by far the most kino part of any of the nu wars movies

>new movie bad
>old movie good
EVERY FUCKING TIME ! this is INSANITY

when Rouge Juan 1st came out you guys blasted it now it's the better film only because you hate Ep 9 even though you haven't seen it yet? they even brought back your meme Sheev and you fuckers are already rushing back to saying R1 is better lying through your fucking teeth.

FROM NOW ON, a sequel to any movie comes out just say it's good even if it's shit so that way when the inevitable sequel comes out you won't look like a backsliding retard.

>And why not introduce some OC for cargo shutttles?
Reminder that Solo introduces AT-Haulers 10 years before Rogue One, which are able to carry whole train carriages and not prone to tripping up.

The scene of Krennic at the farm in the beginning is pure kino. Imperial bureaucratic politics is also one of my favorite things ever, due to my personal study of authoritarian regimes.

Did you forget about the whole clone wars thing

youtube.com/watch?v=3XaoXSO1iBk

>he hasn't seen Godzilla or Monsters
sure is brainlet up in here

Nobody's saying The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi was good. The good movie is good. The bad movies are bad. Meme Sheev is the dumbest fucking pandering move ever.

I'm mad about all the cut parts from it, until it's 10th anniversary director's cut version I think it's a 6/10 rn.

Really if you're going to make Tarkin the heavy anyway why not just make Galen into Krennic's character and have him help Jyn out at the last minute once they're alone, then have him get blown away by a Tie Fighter/Y-Wing and killed by the Death Star.

trips of truth

>T-THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS DISINGENUOUS
>STOP FUCKING LIKING IT

>Tarkin’s much more interesting if he had hubris to think “no one could hit” that exhaust,
Tarkin (or at least one of his gunners in their underbite can't see shit helmets) was able to destroy the comms dish with pinpoint accuracy from orbit, using the Death Star's laser, so him thinking in ANH that no-one could hit a shaft from a few dozen meters away or so makes him retroactively dumber.

It was ray-shielded and the first guy to try the torpedoes failed; you really did have to have the Force to make that shot.

>Oh but it’s better if some designer put a literal video game weak point on it)
Remember that the weak point introduced by Erso was the same weak point every Star Wars reactor has had before or since: immediate combustion upon bombardment. It was aggravating to hear every söyboy claim RO finally "fixing" the "plot hole" of the Death Star exhaust.

The Empire stuff is good
The shitty recut rebel stuff is garbage I can almost 100% guarantee the original cut was superior

I CLAPPED WHEN DARTH VADER SHOWED UP I REMEMBER HIM FROM OTHER MOVIE AND DEATH STAR TOO :DDD

If you see someone post this you instantly know they're a redditlettermedia manchild

ironic considering literally the only people who enjoyed Rogue One are manchildren who got raging hard-ons from creatively bankrupt references being tossed at them on screen

It wouldve been a great movie if the chick didn't tell the main badguy that they knew about the deathstar and were currently transmitting the plans. If her boyfriend didn't crawl up twenty floors after getting fucked up to shoot that guy in the back at that exact second before he could do literally anything the whole mission would've been fucked. It was the dumbest thing I've ever seen someone do. Don't gloat, just fucking shoot him and get on with it. Reverse James bond syndrome

>enjoying a brainless star wars themed action movie makes that person a manchild
Cool to see you can recycle (((Mike Stoklasa)))'s argument ad infinitum

From what I can gather the only changes to the rebels were the scenes with General Fucko and Mon Mothma in the command room, the rest of the shit was part of the original shoot; the waffling and bickering with the negro woman and Jyn's shitty hope speech were all in there.

PICK UP THAT CAN

it's a good argument desu

its shit

It would be if (((Bauman)) and (((Stoklasa))) didn't recommend a bunch of average action movies with the recommendation of "just turn off your brain." Capeshit is okay if you just turn off your brain but putting a Star Wars filter on a generic action script suddenly needs to be this elevated genre-defying epic for it to not be bad? Come on, user.

It was dumb feminist garbage and that SHOULD have been the moment Jyn revealed herself to her father, with maybe Cassian shooting him afterward because he missed that part of the plot due to unconsciousness.

I just rewatched it yesterday as well.
I thought that maybe Solo might have been better but after the rewatch Rogue One is the best out of the new movies.
I really enjoy Edwards trademark of not showing the thing we want to see the most, thereby making its slim appearance that much more memorable.
Side note, I find it extremely amusing and ironic that the best films are the "side" ones. Both of them had way better talent working on them than TFA and TLJ.

It's the most Star Wars film since the OT. It's Kino.

I generally like RLM, but I never understood this criticism. AT-STs and stormtroopers are part of the setting, it makes sense that they are in the movie. If anything TFA is creatively bankrupt for reusing X-Wings, TIEs, the not Death Star, etc for a movie set far in the future

It was surprisingly very good.
