Am I missing something?

Am I missing something?

How could anyone have not seen the obvious potential for adapting Dune as a tv series in the post-GoT gap that everyone is going to be fighting to fill? Why did they go for a movie instead?

God that kid is ugly

Because TV shows are garbage for casuals and Dune deserves a worthy visual medium like film.

name ONE tv show from this decade with artistic integrity

The Dune movie from the 80's was pretty definitive. People were willing to watch a slow burn drama like that. Any modern film will just devolve into some edgy wall to wall fight scene.

Yes that explains why he drowns in pussy

Awwww sheeeeit. Yo, yo, yo! Wut up, Yea Forums? Chaniqua in da houz, g! Imma black dat Muh'Deeb an sheeit, for realz.

>tv =/= film

pleb detected.

>fitting the plot and philosophical complexities of any of the Dune books into a 2-3 hour running time

Kindly fuck off.

Giving it the GoT treatment is really the only way to do it justice.

It's already confirmed that there will be two films just for the first book.
Kindly slit your wrists.

Because everything past book 1 is literally unfilmable

I'm in the middle of the third book, enjoying it so far, first book was definitely better than the second one though. Is the original movie any good? I really like the universe

The Terror.

>The GoT treatment
lol

>Lynch's Dune
>Definitive adaption
Jesus Christ no. It fails as a film and an adaption despite how fascinating it is in its awful, it's production history, etc.

>philosophical complexities
Oh? Like what?

youtube.com/watch?v=30WjxhLASCU&t=40s

Just watch that clip for some insight into what the Lynch version was like. It's not good. He was simply the wrong man for the job.

>has to pull a face to even vaguely resemble a WE WUZ KANGZ
She's alright. That image is weak.

>universe
It’s called a setting

you mean deleting whole plot lines and characters to replace them with weak multicultural characters and a bunch of fuck scenes?

Nepotism at its finest

They are splitting the first book into two films, genius, its going to be a 5.5+ hr. running time, and the first book has a compelling enough universe, characters, story, etc. to make for an excellent film even if every single time Paul languishes over the jihad isn't present.

Legit the only one.

Wait, am I retarded?
I'm reading a book with ~650 pages or so, split into 3 "books" (or so they're called), but since you're mentioning the djihad, which wasn't present until at least book 2, is this book I'm reading only the first of more?

There was both very unflattering and flattering photos of Chalamet. He's good looking in a unique way when he's at this best. Far from 'ugly' and he's a good actor too boot, so even if he got his initial opportunities in acting via nepotism/cronyism, I can't complain cause it's not as if we're watching Sofia Coppola-tier shit.

>Giving it the GoT treatment
And what does that mean? DnD butchering the source material at every turn?

I think meant books as in the first one, Messiah of Dune, Children of Dune, etc. not the mini-"books" the first novel was split into.

Writing aside, I'd kill for Dune to get a tv adaption with a budget like GoT's where the network is fully investing in it.

God I hate them

What do you think this poster's BMI is?

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-04-17 at 12.55.25-fullpage.png (1908x2254, 536K)

I would kill the producer who paid for it.

wolf hall

I personally would not as I think the stuff that's worth showing in more depth or add cause it's a visual medium (for example, add in a scene of the Landsraad fleet arriving over Arrakis so it has impact over the characters just repeating there is a fleet over their heads again and again and this is a big deal) benefit most the type of budget a big movie is getting

Because Dune is a shit franchise

le epic contrarian xD SOOO EPIC HAVE A LIKE GOOD SIR!

Mad Men

Said no one ever.

That's not even one of his good photos. Plus he's a Jewtwink and this is Yea Forums, so of course he's gonna get hazed here.

Mad Men, The Wire, Young Pope, Devilman, annnnd I'm drawing a blank but Santa Clarita Diet is comfy

You think /pol/ guys that are actually short, fat, balding, ugly, bad skin, etc. scream internally whenever they see a sexy Jewess or handsome kike?

and now imagine he wasn't deformed looking and actually attractive

Attached: fixed.png (1080x1440, 2.05M)

the movie is utterly bizarre and not in a good way
watched it through for the first time about a month back and was just howling with laughter at the "weirding module" sound stuff
the miniseries is better even though Kyle MacLachlan is literally the perfect Paul Atreides

>Implying a Yea Forums autist calling him deformed and unattractive is really a stronger indicator than all the girls getting wet and fangirling over him,

This just reminds me how much I hate this casting
This deformed rat is going to get spammed here all the time by some kike shill when the movie is out

Of course they do.
Cope

wire is wholly outside this decade and mad men overlaps.

Jesus he’s even uglier when smiling
The lack of jaw and the crooked teeth make him look like a gypsies hobo

>Fat man with disgusting boils floats around screaming and laughing maniacally before screaming at his nephew, who is feasting on raw cow cheek, to SQUEEZE and then lusting after glistening Sting in a thong
Lynch did the Baron dirty, and it seems a lot of book fans are under the impression the book Baron also floats around and is some horrific body horror freak show on top of the obesity

And yet girls like him, just as they like Adam Driver, cause, and this fact seems to allude a lot of lookism autists, being attraction does depend on factors beyond just face.

>this is what butthurt haters actually believe
Cry more

Attached: 1542490297478.jpg (1077x1060, 124K)

this isn’t really it. women find timothee chalamet and adam driver attractive primarily because of their facial appearance, not in spite of it.

what eludes the autists and losers on this site is that some women prefer men that look like adam or timothee to generic giga chads like chris hemsworth. it’s somewhat more of a niche preference, but it exists.

this

Agree with you but he really should shave between the eye brows. I get the same thing and shave there routinely. Maybe it's a Jew thing.

>making a Dune movie in a time where everyone gets triggered and posts shit on the internet
Why?

9.6 and he needs it at 7 to 8 max.

Because Film is the superior art form.
GoT still aint shit compared to LOTR

its semi original but its also dry boring and goes to shit after the first book.
because there is a limit to how many times you can see the same story.

he's a homosexual irl

Not an easy read =/= shitty franchise/books.

his facial features are just too small, these zoomed in hq photos are hillarious

he's nothing like Tom Hollland or Asa Butterfield, those are 8~10 twinks

I did not say it was hard to read.

Into the Badlands

he looks like a narcissist

>straight white male becomes a messiah for foreign desert people
Can't wait for the hundreds of articles calling it problematic

don't know, feels like it got dumber after caster died.

Aren't the atredis also brown? I know the actor here is not but in the book they are, right?

are they? I don't recall there being much focus, I did assume they were white. The whole french/English royalty set up was part of it.

But they use indian titles and honorifics in the empire

This sounds crazy but what Dune actually needs is three or four times as much time, characters and materials, fleshing everything out. Dune has a complex and significant web of social class dynamics, and the only thing we ever see of it is one heart plug yank that's not in the book. Make up representative middle-class families for the two main houses and actually show them consuming dilute melange and living the ideologies. Show the other houses of the landsdraad and the deliberations of the guild. Show a tertiary red shirt house messing up canly and getting wrecked to preserve order.

I thought they were pseudo-Turkish in keeping with the Space Arab thing. "Saudarkar" sounds like it could have come from "sardar." But given the Company history, there'd be no way around using "baradur."

legendary actually bought both the movie and TV rights to the entire dune series (including the brian herbert crap) so they are definitely planning to do a TV show as well. after the movie bombs they will probably recast everyone and tell the remaining story on a streaming service.

They're not only white, they're the product of eugenics.

Yeah, a GoT-esque show is necessary for what you want but it isn't necessary for a straight adaption of the first novel with additions/expansions here and there, and by expansions I don't mean stuff like inventing a whole new House and their perspective. I mean stuff like showing the final battle or the Atreides being defeated in more detail and have them being compelling setpieces. I'm not shitting on what you're suggesting per say but adapting the first novel? This 2 part big budget film is the way to go.

I assumed only Arrakis was Space Arab and the whole thing was him joining another culture and taking over the hesitant galaxy with it. for example I pictured that world were they train emperors elite more like metal covered sparta

Leto, and maybe Paul, are only ever described as having olive complexions. They're meant to look like Meds basically, hence the Greek inspired surname, Herbert describing Leto/Paul as having aquiline profiles, etc. Not sure if that fits your definition of brown though.

>How could anyone have not seen the obvious potential for adapting Dune as a tv series

The Dune TV series from 2000 was a clunker. The 80's film - though flawed - still more beloved. So the logic is to remake the film, but give it everything it was lacking.

He's even uglier than that jew rat.
Jesus Yea Forums has such shit taste in twinks

To be fair, parts of the first book are unfilmable as well (and won't be included in the film)

have you been to Greece?

ATREIDES AND FREMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE!

>Jesus Yea Forums has such shit taste in twinks
You definitely are not a real man if your twink tastes aren't patrician-tier taste

nothing will ever match GoT's quality

Attached: 1554854526552.jpg (750x608, 362K)

lady stoneheart is a dumb idea and im glad the show removed it desu

>nothing will ever match GoT's quality

They say that about every hot series that sweeps the nation, but there is always another that comes along.

I'm reserved about it cause the plotline hasn't fully played out yet
>inb4 'it will never play out cause fat jew will die before then!' bullshit

If by GoT you mean Farscape, then yes, I agree.

he'll never finish it bro

His eyes look like someone took a shit in a pool of water
