Was omitting the action of the battle a COPE or a KINO?
Was omitting the action of the battle a COPE or a KINO?
much worse was ommiting the hundreds of wagons and camp followers
it was lazily cutting off old ""plotlines"" and cast members with two cheap scene, a horribly stupid explanation, and general carelessness towards the audience.
>the Tyrells have the largest army in Westeros
>Have barely taken any casualties
>get swept aside by the completely decimated lannister forces+the tarlys
>"we always sucked at fighting lol"
Wasnt Highgarden supposed to have a large badass army all this time? How the fuck did they instantly lose to Lannisters, and without any sort of a siege at that?
>Was omitting the action of the battle a COPE or a KINO?
Depends, are you making a big budget blockbuster or a Monty Python movie?
>"Fighting was never our forte."
>grandson was the best knight in the realm and unhorsed the Mountain

is it called high garden because ppl in the reach grow heaps of dope
lel high garden
Tarlys were the most important and powerful vassals. It is probable that in the end of the day only Tyrell's domain forces stood against all former vassals.
I imagine if they actually did do a battle scene it would have been like the one in Anchorman. Just incredibly over the top and seeing how crazy they can take things.
>>"Fighting was never our forte."
>>grandson was the best knight in the realm and unhorsed the Mountain
There is a difference between fighting and a knightly joust in front of audience.
So all the former vassals abandoned the Tarlys? That's a pretty important development that they might have mentioned. Would have made way more sense than "they just suck at fighting".
It's even retarded because the Reach is the stand-in for medieval France who swept aside armies with only their vanguard of heavy cavalry.
See battle of Nicopolis (even if they acted retarded there) for the pumelling power of an entire french mounted regiment.
>medieval France who swept aside armies with only their vanguard of heavy cavalry
For a while anyway.
Its kino, though you could say its for budget reasons. Look at LotR books, with the battle of the pelennor fields, Tolkien ends the chapter just by stating that the rohirrim show up, they sang as they slayed, and that's the battle. It picks up again afterwards without having to sit through Tolkien narrating fight sequences. Sure its eye candy, but how many battles can you watch without having to constantly up the ante with dragons n shieet.
>So all the former vassals abandoned the Tarlys? That's a pretty important development that they might have mentioned. Would have made way more sense than "they just suck at fighting".
Yes, I believe that all important and powerful vassals close to Highgarden ditched Tyrells in favor of more militant and stable Tarlys.
omitting the battles is completely fine in tv shows and should be done more
>battle of the bastards is a 30-minute sequence when 10 minutes would've been more than enough
>entire episode dedicated to wildlings attacking the wall when 15 minutes would've been enough (literally all you need to do is have a fight, skip to some other place, then come back as the battle is either finishing or still taking place or there's something significant happening)
>entire episode dedicated to battle at the blackwater when there's only 4 relevant moments (wildfire explosion, stannis still deciding to attack and ramming the gates, tyrion assembling the men and riding out, tyrion fighting outside and tyrells arriving to save the day)
>entire episode dedicated to hardhome
they should've omitted WAY more battles
1. they would save money
2. they would have more time to expand other storylines (looking at greyjoys, dorne in particular)
3. more time to develop characters
unfortunately they went for EPIC rather than CHARACTER DRAMA, and the latter is what made Game of Thrones good in the first place
also for the tyrell bullshit:
>largest army in westeros
>completely intact
>enough supplies to last the entire winter and more
>rich as fuck
>a well defended keep atop a steep hill that could hold for years
>in the keep, the streets are narrow (as seen in the show), leaving plenty of room for choke points
>plenty of room for archers to shoot down at lannister forces
>it's also surrounded by forest
>lannister army would never be able to storm the keep and win as it is
>lannister army somehow defeats them in an instant without even having any siege equipment
>they don't even have a ram
>tyrells could literally hold for years
what did they mean by this?
also dorne:
>sand snakes are defeated
>entire dorne army evaporates
>no one, neither targaryens/starks nor lannisters try to get a hold of additional 10,000-20,000 battle-ready men
>dorne suddenly doesn't exist anymore
The Stormlands also completely vanish, although I guess that's easier to justify since there are probably no Baratheon soldiers left.
Stop the fucking coping. Stop making excuses for the show you think it is, because it's not. It's not a show where any of this matters. They don't fucking care.
The reach going over to the House Tarly would be a major political change, but they didn't mention that. If it where so, it would just mean that the battle with the dragons destroyed not only Lannister forces, but also all of the reach apparently. Oh, and the stormlands probably and whatever the fuck is left of the Riverlands, since Cersei seems to have no actual opposition whatsoever. Oh, and Dorne, which never fought and has no ruler left.
Btw, what's with the coffers? Lannisters were said to be broke in season xy, Iron bank stopped supporting them, going over to Stannis, then the wealth of the reach burned, and no they can somehow afford a relevant army? Inb8 coping of "Tywin lied back than for som reasons"-levels.
also fuck no, the Florents were, and after that the Hightowers probably. Randyll Tarly was just the best commander.
jesus.
>Writing was never our forte
I assume Euron is wealthy and may have made a a deal with the Golden Company
It's par for the course.
>omitting the battles is completely fine in tv shows
McFucking kill yourself. I do not watch this show for ovary-dialogue.
>tactical GENIUS, Stannis
>marches into an open field against cavalry with no spears or archers in a single column, aka exactly the way Varus got BTFO by Arminius
shit taste: confirmed
grow up, retard
