I don't see it as impossible they decide to switch it up and go R-rated since both Rodriguez and Cameron have done R rated stuff many times in the past. Only concern is the budget I guess.
Though Cameron is going all-in with Terminator with 200 million budget and probably R-rated.

I like how any justification for the giant eyes is entirely headcanon. As there is no basis for them in the manga, the OVA, or the movie, and the giant eyes are, not only the only unique aspect of the movie, but also what directly caused the movie to fail and what ensures the movie will never have a sequel.
Furthermore, literally every other cybernetic character is a testament to how entirely pointless the eyes and performance capture/enhancement were, as nothing about the CGI wrapped characters was nearly as uncanny as alita.

Well I assume most of the "world building" is done as they have sets set up in Texas lots of pre fabricated CGI models. All the tech and equipment (Provided it wasn't rented). So I would of thought that a squeal should be relatively cheaper to make than this movie, meaning they could save money or pump more of it back into marketing to help boost the franchise.
