I'm a sequelfag and I think his reviews are funny
>mfw
>mfw the Plinkett reviews are directly responsible for The Last Jedi being a piece of shit
the funny part is Mike doesn't even know this
I'm a prequelfag, and I agree with them 100% and find them funny.
I don't care about the prequels, but I find the "reviews" fucking cancerous just like every other review video made by some failed film student.
one of the few things i like about this timeline, star wars being raped is hilarious. based mike.
Pretty sure Rian Johnson and Disney are more responsible for that than some youtuber with under 1 million subs.
you underestimate the power of retardation
when Rian was asked about RLM he responded with "I love them but fear them"
That doesn’t explain how Mike is more responsible for his movie being terrible than he is. You may be retarded, user.
How so?
>unironically watching Reddit Letter Media
Had he fear them so much he would have not made the Comedy of Errors that is The Last Jedi.
you give them far too much credit
No the funny part is that you’re retarded enough to actually believe this.
What is it with Ricks?
youtube.com
Yeah. It was going to be a piece of shit anyway.
>for my avatar i'll be using the colo claw fish
Yup. He and others like him pushed for the whole subverting of expectations in TLJ
>IT NEEDS TO DO DIFFERENT THINGS!!! Its so boring when you give audiences what they want!! Lucas is a hack!!
Then they did that and they were all mad
Cringe
The reviews are meh and full of problems, the real problem are npcs who use it to hate on something without thinking for themselves. The problem is the zietgeist that formed off of the reviews that led to the eventual playing it safe, no world building, mary sue epic that was TFA.
If anything his reviews showed how much people don't think when it comes to analysis.
hes not wrong
abrams directing lucas's vision instead of disney's focus grouped drivel would have made a genuinely compelling movie
We have furries to thank for RLMs early success. Really maeks u thnk
LET THE GUY GET HIS FUCKING ROCKS OFF
>Not willing to admit that a YouTuber's opinions, one's that Johnson both Loved and Feared, were capable of influencing or shaping Johnson's attempt at creativity in writing TLJ
Check the reflection in the screen next time you think about calling someone retarded. Might save yourself some embarrassment
TLJ is the second best Star Wars film, fight me, or fucking don't, you're wrong either way.
These haven't aged well.
has anyone actually given decent arguments against the Plinkett reviews
you have literally no proof for this
Feels kinda surreal that everyone now loves the prequels. Back around 2009-2014, when you had the Plinkett reviews at their height of popularity, the prequels were meme-hated into the stratosphere on not just Yea Forums but most other forums, a la Dragon Ball GT, Nickelback, Dane Cook, etc.
That all changed in 2015 though. The week after TFA came out, I distinctly remember people starting to say "Hey at least the prequels had heart, unlike this rehash", and the first big "prequel memes" also started on Reddit around this time. The backlash against TLJ just further solidified this shift into people liking the prequels.
Now many people on the Internet legit love/defend the prequels, a complete turnaround from their extremely negative reputation in the late 2000s-early 2010s.
How so?
armond white summarized perfectly the prequel vs sequels argument in his solo review
>comedic thruth vs commercial indignation
You are delusional. It is still a minority who likes the prequels, mostly consisting of zoomers and people who were literal babies when the PT came out
That's the thing about memory: it's easier to recall the good times and idealize something once you're distant enough from it (versus how negative feelings tend to linger in the short term).
It probably doesn't help that the Disney films have suggested an idea that was lingering at the back of everyone's head: that maybe a good Star Wars film might not be as easy to make as everyone used to think. The original three are classics (hiccups in ROTJ aside), but much of what has followed has fallen short either in terms of absolute quality or has found itself overshadowed by a massive legacy.
Remember the last Transformers review?
Eh, I think there's been a noticeable shift. Watchmojo did a recent "Star wars prequels suck" video and it got 23k dislikes vs 3k likes. If it were made in like 2012, that video would probably have 23k likes and 3k dislikes.

It's all relative. There were still good films coming out in the prequel days. Prequels did not stand up well against their peers. Now everything is so trash that the prequels look good in comparison.
It's true though. Complaining about the low numbers of their channel doesn't work because their channel and these reviews are popular among the fans and "geeks". The "geeks", contrary to what people believe, are actually the major trend setters for other people. The shit geeks do eventually migrates to the mainstream. When the prequels came out originally, basically people loved them. Then sarcastic nerds started making fun of them and picking them apart. Then mainstream people started to hop on the bandwagon because they wanted to be cool.
Then you have people firing off cliches about jar jar and having problems with midiclorians even though this didn't contradict lore.
When TFA came out, the mainstreamers tried to act like it was better than the prequels, but then noticed that the actual nerds were making fun of it and then suddenly decided that they hated it. Then the nerds said they actually liked the prequels and now people are going along with that too.
The thing is, RLM's pro nu-wars attitudes didn't really win over the nerds this time. The plinkett shit was funny as fuck and nerds like to bash things. It's just what they do.
The brutal irony is that a lot of corporate normies basically took all this shit seriously and decided to take a shit on star wars.
it's because Yea Forums is now made up of zoomers who were 6 when they saw revenge of the sith and thought it was "the bestest movie eva" and became edgy teens when the force awakens came out
both the sequels and the prequels are shit
this. fuck off zoomers. prequels are better than sequels in some regards, but they still suck.
>claims to like RLM
>hasn’t seen Gods of Los Angeles
No.
The prequels were good and genuinely had heart. They also expanded the star wars universe in a way that fans loved, which is why all fans basically embraced shit like "force pushes" and acrobatic sword fights. They loved that shit.
Nu wars is just a cynical platform for left wing hate propaganda.
Forever will their asses be blasted. And that's a good thing.
Prequels are not good because nuwars is terrible.
Nah its full of delusional boomers that thought Empire Strikes Back was the "bestest" thing ever because they watched it as kids and sperg out whenever anyone has a different opinion.
The Original Trilogy are all terrible b-movies with awful acting. Pretending the Prequels were some massive step down is hilarious, when the original movies are hacky genre bullshit anyway
I know you’re just trolling. But there are people who actually believe this. Think about that for a minute.
Star Wars has just always been a blight to the mental health of the general public. I guess ol' Alec was right
You zoomers are worse than jews when it comes to tarnishing and slandering classical works.
Yea Forums is never going to accept that TLJ was just ok. That’s pretty pathetic
Fuck you faggot
Yeah, ESB and films like The Godfather Part 2 are sooooooo overrated.
Fucking retard
>no proof of this
>despite Rian being aware of them
>despite Pegg and Lindeloff praising the reviews
>despite Abrams outright saying Pegg helped him out
The state of Friend Simulator Defenders
No.
This ladies and germs is called doubling down. It's when you run out of excuses and arguments and just throw shit in the air because you're too much of a man child to admit you're wrong.
