unironically very happy for him
Unironically very happy for him
He doesn't deserve even a fraction of the shit he got.
He really doesn’t, as shit of a character jar jar is that’s entirely Lucas’ fault not his if anything he did a good job at portraying an annoying alien clutz
More like Ahmed Based
He doesn't and neither does Jake Lloyd.
Was he the franchise ruining idiot in the suit or the franchise ruining idiot in the recording booth?
blame the fans, they're the ones who tortured this man all over the place
Neither. He provided the voice and mocap for Jar Jar Binks.
What a pussy snowflake, he probably didn't even get any serious threats and is just doing it for the attention.
I wonder why anyone is surprised that the new trilogy gets the hate it did. We have seen the same thing happen before, and Star Wars came back stronger. Toxicity is nothing new, and not an 'incel' problem.
He never said he got threats
this is only happening because it came out recently that the nigger tried to kill himself over the hate he got. otherwise, no one, including disney, would have given a shit about him.
Yeah he did. Both he and Lucas deserved to be shot. Both shouldve known better.
Jake Lloyd sucked because he had no acting talent and poor material. So he's partly responsible. But the adults involved are more responsible.
I feel so bad for Lloyd. His life is shit because he got chosen to play a part in a movie that people thought wasn’t good.. he was just a kid...
>Star Wars came back stronger
You mean after George Lucas gave up and sold it to Disney?
He was just a child. Kids suck at acting through and through, none of it is his fault.
No, his life is shit because he's ugly and has no talent. Can't blame George for that. You can only blame George for giving him terrible lines and giving a thumbs up on shitty takes.
He was a child and he was terrified of starring in a big budget blockbuster. How can anyone blame him?
Some kids dont suck. Lloyd was at the other end of the spectrum and sucked hardcore donkey dick. He was terrible.
His life sucks because he has schizophrenia.
He was a child actor. Lucas and the casting directors had thousands to choose from, and more than likely he was in the top 10%, though that doesn't mean much since child actors are rarely passable to begin with. Shit dialogue only sounds worse coming from children, and the prequels' better adult actors (McDarmild, McGregor) only gave enjoyable performances by clearly embracing camp Lucas hadn't intended.
They could make a documentary about the people who's lives have been irreparably damaged by appearing in Star Wars movies. Ahmed Best, Jake Lloyd, Kelly Marie Tran, and Hayden Christensen at least come to mind, but I'm sure there's more. Carrie Fisher might count too.
the other kid they had in auditions was much better and even looked like luke.
he was more realistic and more down to earth.
jake was a little piece of shit
Star Wars didn't ruin Carrie Fisher in the least. Without success she would have just died sooner, as a result of shittier cocaine.
I can't remember who showed it (maybe Mauler), but there was a kid who auditioned for Anakin who fucking nailed it, and even sort of looked like a younger version of Hayden Christensen, but still lost out to Lloyd. The only reason seemingly being that he lacked the acting experience that Lloyd had, and Lucas didn't want to waste precious production time handholding an inexperienced child actor.
he was in the original run of "Stomp" you know
I always took it as him being an autistic savant.
imagine being this triggered over a series of shitty b-movies. why don't you talk to a therapist?
If I was Jake Lloyds mom I would have moved to Kansas or Minnesota for his mental sake. Staying in Cali fucked that kid up for life
Yea it kinda did. The only work she could get in the 80s was bit parts in shitty TV shows. Her "comeback" was playing Tom Hanks wife in The Burbs but that only lead to some bit parts in movies. She really didn't become a meme until the late 90s when she could start to coast on cameos.
It's a shame Lucas didn't follow through with Jar Jar's reveal, would have been top kino
I actually think Lloyd was the best choice out of those final three.
Yes that one other kid looked more like Luke and was probably a better "actor", but he was too solemn and serious in his acting, it would have completely changed the feel of the film. Anakin needed to be bright eyed and enthusiastic as a child. Lucas wanted Anakin to be fall to the dark side, not be dark side guy from the beginning.
Notice it says MEDIA BACKLASH not fan backlash. Those same scumbags that call people racist for liking the new Star Wars and accuse other people of harassment are the ones who drove Ahmed nearly to suicide.
Fuck journos
At least Lucas listened to the fans. Disney is shoving that chink into IX in spite of how hated she is.
>but he was too solemn and serious in his acting
He was a slave rigged with a bomb who lived in what amounted to a mud hut in a shithole town on a harsh desert planet with little to no hope of ever leaving. If anything, it would have been more befitting his circumstances, and explain his occasional dips into Dark Side territory.
I agree that it makes more sense someone in that situation would be like that. But Anakin is meant to be different. He's meant to be like the ultimate self-less and optimistic person. Lloyd is closer to what Lucas was aiming for.
Jar Jar was the only character in ep 1 that had any personality. Everyone else was completely wooden
for a shitload of money
