The golden crown thing is really insignificant, and the hit to reality is worth it for the story - despite it being worth it, it is also not something a creative fantasy writer would know offhand anyway. Should he have done the research? No, if it would have made the scene not happen. If my hero has an M1A1 carbine and he uses it to shoot 200 yards over its possible range, it can be worth it to ignore real life.

Shit like Gendry sprinting to the wall was stupid, because the story had established very long ago with season 2 that it is a massive ordeal to even go that far North and it takes days and there are countless dangers. It was, the entire buildup to the reveal of Jon's parentage, arguably one of the most important details in the overall story, and most importantly to Jon, gets completely glossed over in a less than 5 minute scene.

The man literally learns that his entire life has been spent living a lie. His father wasn't the real deal, His real dad was the dumbass that got his whole house nearly ended, he went to wall for being a bastard, he was crowned KITN for being Neds son, etc.

Even if we the audience know it and have known it for like 13 fucking years this is still a huge deal for Jon and yet that revelation and all the baggage with it is completely glossed over for Sam to ask Jon to take the throne over Dany. Fucking Jon doesn't even acknowledge that the queen he's been fucking is actually his aunt.

And thats just one fucking plotpoint from the episode. Euron/Ceresi, Yara/Theon, the fact Jon just flies a fucking dragon.

Its honestly insulting and then you see shit like and I have to wonder why I even try to care.
